1.
Damn. Why did you have to link to his website? I've been gassing for an 80's Siennaburst for ages, even though I can't live with 1.75" necks, and that one seems a very good price! I will have to hold firm!
He's had that bass in for months. Cheeky offer?????
2.
Bargain and a cracking project. I would have snapped it up if I didn't have to keep the funds back for my Bravewood! Good work Beedster. Next day or two? Let's hope the seller is more patient than some I've dealt with recently! (I'm sure he is) I can already see this bass refin'd in vintage white or blonde, but I think a wet and dry with 1200, 1500, and 2000 then a polish will have it gleaming! Will need an anodized pickguard though!
There was an anodised plate with it I just didn't get round to putting it back on.
3.
That's probably because they would have 2 different range of ohm speakers made for them . perhaps if they offered a discount if you ordered more than one cab , that might influence people to get 2 x8 ohm or 3 x 12ohm cabs ?
The point is (to me) Barefaced don't make the 2x 10 in 8 ohm, or I would have bought two of them. They make the 210 in 4ohm and 12 ohm. One is no good to me and I'm buggered if I'm going to buy/carry three of them. As I said, I asked Alex last year if they would do them in 8 ohm versions and was told (in a bamboozling scientific way) no.
4.
Jay, why explain two identical basses to Mrs Synchro, in my book that's one bass Anyway, I'll take the bass mate, nearly pressed the button when Karl furst offered it. I'll get my people to talk to your people in the next day or two. C
Absolutely world class Chris You will love that bass fella
5. From initial contact to closure was less than 24 hours. Decisive, did what he said he would, when he said he would. On top of that, although short term contact, Ian is an absolute gentlemen. The condition of his gear was exemplary, an absolute credit to him. Ian, it was a great pleasure, and in true gear whore style I will be keeping an eye out for anything you put up for sale Deal with utmost confidence folks, Ian is one of life's nice guys
6. He'd have sold at least two more 210's if he did them in 8ohm Apparently there are complicated reasons not to do that.
7.
I joined BT in September, biggest mistake I've made in a long time, the speed and the service is total rubbish!
I joined TALKTALK in September, biggest mistake I've made. Virgin got daft expensive, hence changing. TALKTALK is like going back 20 years to dial up via fax line They have been written to twice, second time telling them to get their sh*te out of my house. Still awaiting reply
8. Great review discreet. I tried a 500 last year in a shop. I didn't like it. It seemed to me that you only got decent volume by having the Drive way up, and pushing the mids. The reality is, I always struggle with this sort of Semi parametric????? equipment. Possibly because I have (frequently) been called 40 watts (dim ). Your review is great in that in relatively simple terms you've explained how it all ties together, great bit of future reference. Now you can possibly see why I like the TecAmp PUMA range. Flat, twiddle TASTE, left for Jazz, right for Precision. As a certain meerkat might say, simples. Or son of a mongoose
9. Sorry didn't work out for you Jay (although like me, you really should stop looking at pictures of pretty basses ). From a couple of feet away, this just looks like a great, iconic bass. It's an AV 57 RI with all the great qualities that go with that. AND IT'S DAFT LIGHT!!!!! For the right person, this really is a terrific buy at a terrific price, and Jay is simply fabulous to deal with. Happy new year fella and GLWTS
10.
Sounds like you've just bought yourself some TKS cabs perhaps? Happy New Gear
You may say that, I couldn't possibly comment And a happy new year to you to
11. Yowser Happy new year discreet, certainly a good start with that
12. Thanks for all the interest folks, gone now. Have a great new year, cheers, Karl.
13. TecAmp PUMA, July 2015, immaculate, with original box and TecAmp bag. Cost was £653 all in. Sale only, photos to follow in couple of hours (need to go to warehouse, to get ladders, to get box and bag out of loft ). £480 collected from Wigan, £500 mainland UK insured courier (earliest will be Monday collect/Tuesday delivery.). Happy to meet within 50 miles of Wigan with no extra charge. Only reason for sale is I've just bought two cabs rated at 250 watts each. I was happy to put this amp through 2 cabs rated at 300 watts each, but might be tempting things a bit too much putting it through 2 x 250's. All that said, the PUMA 900 has never been past 11 o'clock on the gain, and 9 o'clock on master. It's a bit powerful . So I'm going to buy me a TecAmp PUMA 500. Cheers, Karl. 14. Jimbob, try Andy Travis, he was looking for a 'burst Road Worn
15.
Bump, someone please buy this - so I can buy karlfers bass!! ..... please
Good call Marc. Good thing with the Italian ones is they are likely to hold their value better, especially when they get harder to find in a year or two. Having said that, these were originally around £1000 new if I remember correctly.
16.
I have a 2001 model sunburst, gold metal scratch plate. Lovely bass. The bridge is a multi threaded screw type was that standard?. The tuners and pickups seem a little better than standard mex models of the time too, I could be mistaken.
Yup, that bridge is standard, American Vintage bridge I think they were called at the time. If you are ever daft enough to sell it, currently ask no less than £400. And somebody will get a superb gigging instrument.
17.
Full of bitter again and I still have beer goggles for this gal. Oooooh if only....
Further pm's overnight, all replied. Sad day Anyway, over the time it's been up, I've had mail from 5 folk on the continent. Spookily they have all gone quiet when I have explained the conditions I would need to be met to sell to Europe. Some folk won't even ship in the UK . So, to make clear to all. Yes, I will send it to Europe, under the following circumstances; 1. Buyer to pay by bank transfer in GBP. WHEN funds have cleared (usually 3-4 days with Europe), it can be couriered. 2. Buyer to organise/pay for their own insured courier, simply telling me the collection date. The second condition is because I can hardly pop over to (eg) Brussels to give a courier company's CEO a hard time. BUT I can if neccessary do that in the UK. Anybody who is sceptical about the terms, please have a chat with Aero71 or electriccheese I'd be surprised if they didn't answer your questions. And no I'm not going to give it away either I hope my feedback will speak for my trustworthiness and a fair deal for both buyer and seller, cheers, Karl.
18. Andy, Fender stated back in the day that the California Series were US hardware put together in Mexico. They also stated the "new Precision Special Deluxe Series" had the pick of the woods coming in to Ensenada. Or they did when they advertised them in Bassist and Bass Guitars (remember that ?)
19. Excellent price and excellent honesty!!!! Well done that man. GLWTS
20.
What if it's an older passive model? Will it still have the better pick ups and hardware? Somewhere I've read they had the pick of the wood that came in. Anyone know for sure?
Yup, pick of the wood in the Ensenada plant. If the one you are looking at is one of the 1999/2001 passive P/J's with jazz profile neck, they are fabulous basses ime. Very well made, great components, easy to set up. I recently missed out on a fabulous 1999 white/maple/glodscratchplate one and was gutted. My main gigging bass is a 2014 Sea Foam Pearl Factory Special Run, based on exactly that model.
21.
I very nearly had a bitter fuelled moment with this last night!
That refers to Saturday then. I had some bitter moments on Saturday as well. Namely the 3 hours it took to do J22 to J20 westbound on the M62 . Hence the delay in replying to PM's on Saturday. Anyway, all Sat/Sun/Mon PM's now replied to, ta very muchly
22. Stunning. Marten's work at his best
23. Your link is denying access??
24. All further PM's replied, thank you. Between here and other avenues I've had 17 offers of trades and 32 questions. Almost tempted to run a book on the 1st one to come up with the cash on 31st Anyway, decision made, if it's not gone by around the 2nd, well, that will be 3.5 weeks advertised, which to me is a sign to retire it under the bed for a few months. Many thanks to all that have expressed an interest so far, cheers, Karl.
25. Splendid bit of kit. Obviously quality, but one thing I liked about gigging one of these, was putting it on a chair, angled backwards, so you can really hear yourself. Great design. GLWTS
