1. OK , I'm getting a feeling , earthiness, nature, history, old tales in the telling .............and chainsaws So a folk based ballad on the destructive nature of modern machinery then As is the norm , please don't expect the finished article to be anything like the initial idea was supposed to be , but yes , I am beginning the beginning
2. Well done Jellyknees , well deserved dude , the entire Basschat community is now awake and hovering eagerly over your choice of photo for this month
3. Best wishes Pete , I hope it all gets better for you and welcome back
4. The necks are a slightly different thickness as well with the legend bolt ons slightly thinner , there is not much in it but it's there
5.
Good day, all... Here is my own, personal, view of the compositions presented in the monthly BC Composition Challenge, in randomly chosen order. I hope that at least some of you may be inspired to give the pieces a listen, and perhaps vote for your 3 favourites. All of them can be heard here... October Composition Challenge Voting ... and this 'Play of the Day' here … 'Emmatopia', from lurksalot ... A cheery, jaunty spin guaranteed to bring on a smile.
Douglas , the picture inspired me to write a tune about where my daughter went to in her head , to hear you describe it as such is perfect , thank you so much , while the tune might not be be the daughters idea of her own mind , If i could wish 'cheery and guaranteed to bring on a smile' to her own psyche , that would be it, you understand this music stuff don't you
6. I think everything entered was a great interpretation I really enjoyed the listen through , I had been listening as they were posted and really liked the ones I liked from the outset , great stuff all
7.
https://www.youtube....h?v=QQu6IpZ7PLc Trying to think what it reminds me of. I will have to find out more. Thanks
I fear there is not too much to find , one album and a couple of recently found tracks , but I like it
8. Elyse Weinberg , a strange folky kind of offering that i got from my sisters collection on the basis that she never heard it again I think it is superb
9.
I'm in this month. A slightly longer than I usually submit but it felt right so I let it run. It's missing a riff or something but I've no more time over the next two days so this is it. That said I like it so I hope others do as well. I imagined the guy in the picture as a saviour of the depressed who would spread colour in people's lives but only if they wanted it..... https://m.soundcloud.com/theboysings/these-colours-are-for-you
I only managed to listen on my phone , but the boy can most definitely sing , great work , I played out loud , and as we had been listening to radio 1 on the phone , Lurksalittle was quite amazed when I told her that this was a song in our little competition , and not on radio 1
10.
Of course I'm right. The only time I'm not right is when I try to tell the wife I'm right!
Wow , that makes 2 of us then
11. Thanks for the heads up on that, I don't think I am anywhere near it ,but the lad does a lot of video editing so might fancy a go at this.
12. with halloween coming up we have been jamming out ghostbusters , great fun , it doesn't do much, but funks along quite nicely
13. A bizarre twist to our gig last night, the room had been split by some dividing doors since our last visit. we effectively had the band set up in one room and the PA front of house in another, it was like we were on the inside of a TV screen playing out to the room , it was noisy in our box though, one advantage was that we had plenty of space so setup and breaking down was really quick as we all had room without the normal falling over each other. Not a massive audience , but very enthusiastic , the brother-in-law is over from living abroad for a fortnight and got to see us for the first time in 2 years , so he was chuffed as well . in general a good night .
14.
I've rolled mine in 3 different colours of glitter, added an antique wax finish and coated it in diamond-hard varnish. Enjoy! (or not!) http://soundcloud.com/dredd-and-the-badass-weed/say-what
That is fantastic , love it to pieces , and at 4.51 it still feels a bit short !!
15. do you have to put all the files that come with the VST in that path or just the .dll file ? Mine all seem to work , but I rather think that it is more likely down to luck than judgement and the fact I have copied and pasted the files everywhere I can I fear if I clean up the install of them, I will lose half of my tracks
16. We played a pub in town last night and it was quite busy ,we knock out roadhouse blues for a sound check as it is dead easy to jam out and set the levels to , and we got some great applause . Rhythm guitar gets up to the mic when we open and says 'right then , we always have a proper party when we play here and tonight is going to be no different ......OK ' and a big cheer went up ..........we had a good night a proper party
17. One of the reasons I don't use to much VST stuff is that I can never remember how to bring them in , I have a rough idea that there is a place that you put the downloaded file , then Reaper scans the place and recognises it , but it takes me half an hour each time I do it
18. I am in as well now , it has come out a bit Bert Kaempfert meets James Last as it happens , however , my initial ideas were to have it a bit childrens TV theme meets Herb Alpert .......middle of the road....moi so , I reckon its the closest I have got to my original idea since I first entered this challenge. https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/emmatopia
19. Mine is nearly there now , no lyrics on this one though, but the inspiration from the photo has taken me to a very odd place ......inside Lurksalittles head , she used to daydream a lot , still does a bit , but her head goes off to Emmatopia , and that is what the picture is , it is the place where the daughters thoughts go, mainly when she should be doing homework
20. My cousin does a bit of acoustic stuff just outside Adelaide , but he also does musical bus tours around the outback , so he might not even be in Adelaide when you are !
21. There is a heck of a lot going on in there , I have had a few thoughts and a style of sorts , but as usual it may turn out completely different
22.
Very diplomatic.
It was a bit , I'll take it though
23. Congratulations guys , great work again
24.
Looks like the polls never close! Either way, excellent songs by Bilbo and XG - congrats! And looks like I'm 2nd bridesmaid yet again...
Well, after last months flourish , I am back into my normal position in the way of things
25. It looks like great fun, excellent .
