1. some great tunes in the mix so far guys , I have had a listen as mine is just about done , though I am hoping to replace some of my own voicing with a collaborator or two , so I am holding back before uploading it . I am not sure anyone elses input will help this one , it is a touch different , but we will wait and see, there is not actually much music in it !!
2. Well done Skol , and well done everyone else , it was a close call till right at the death .
3.
Most DAWs have a standard setting for dithering, which should be fine - or you can customise your own to taste.
To be honest , I was going to customise the settings last time I used them , then I wasn't so sure , so I left them lone , but having done that, I thought I might try a different setting , but I didn't.
4.
Oh, go on then; it's nearly Christmas ...
Yippee , thats another for the studio wall , I will almost look like I know what I am doing soon Cheers Dad
5. I agree , dost I get thine fine sertificate for being the subject of thy finest review this month :-)
6. Bravo good sir , a splendid selection of reviews showing top form to boot. many thanks again for your insights , they certainly do add an extra level to the challenge.
7. I was at a customers house today and he mentioned he was looking at folk songs on the web as he regularly attends local clubs , so as a laugh I pointed him at my entry this month ................. He only thinks its OK and asked if his outfit could learn it and play it at the club .... gobsmacked isn't even close
8. I think this is one of those 'suck it and see' type answers , it is probably best to try a few positions and have a listen to the results, you can then decide if you have a preference. Probably not much help, sorry
9.
I agree. ... ...
Thanks Douglas
............................ Look at Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan. They got away with rubbish voices. It's all about projecting what you have.
I am with you on that , Bob Dylan particularly , an awful noise , but no-one seemed to notice , an inspiration to me at least
10. Some voices just seem naturally sweet and toneful , that is nice , but add that to the ability of hitting the right notes as well , and it is truly an art . Alas, while I am sure that with enough practice I can get quite close to the notes , my timbre sounds thin , weak and hard to listen to. A good folk BV drone is about all I am good for
11. I dont know the detail , but maybe one set of headphones is more efficient than the other , and I would reckon the active headphone amp would be exactly the way to go . that way each signal can be set to the required level independant of the other
12. I think you've rooted around for enough puns now , leaf it out
13. To be fair , nothing exposes your ability as much as when you record it and play it back , vocals especially , though it can really help to hone playing skills as well .
14. Singing in tune and having a good singing tone are my problem. I can record a dozen takes and while it might eventually be pretty much in tune , tonally, it justs sucks. I can't do much about that , and sometimes it really racks me off.
15. Its a bit of a rush all of a sudden So all for one and all that, mine is up as well now , this kind of worked out really in the style intended would you believe , no chainsaws mind , it probably needed some , only from the first bar to the last though Enjoy https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/jack-the-lad
16. Cheers guys , it sounds like a no brainer , off to find my wallet .
17. I have just had a few emails from toontrack about upgrading to EZ Drummer2 , I think I will have to pull the trigger in the next day or so
18. We are on it !! May I say a quick thanks to all those who took the time to vote this month , 21 voters means that overall, a significant effort was put in to listen and choose 3 tracks, your support is really appreciated.
19. OK , I'm getting a feeling , earthiness, nature, history, old tales in the telling .............and chainsaws So a folk based ballad on the destructive nature of modern machinery then As is the norm , please don't expect the finished article to be anything like the initial idea was supposed to be , but yes , I am beginning the beginning
20. Well done Jellyknees , well deserved dude , the entire Basschat community is now awake and hovering eagerly over your choice of photo for this month
21. Best wishes Pete , I hope it all gets better for you and welcome back
22. The necks are a slightly different thickness as well with the legend bolt ons slightly thinner , there is not much in it but it's there

I hope that at least some of you may be inspired to give the pieces a listen, and perhaps vote for your 3 favourites. All of them can be heard here... October Composition Challenge Voting ... and this 'Play of the Day' here … 'Emmatopia', from lurksalot ... A cheery, jaunty spin guaranteed to bring on a smile.
Douglas , the picture inspired me to write a tune about where my daughter went to in her head , to hear you describe it as such is perfect , thank you so much , while the tune might not be be the daughters idea of her own mind , If i could wish 'cheery and guaranteed to bring on a smile' to her own psyche , that would be it, you understand this music stuff don't you
24. I think everything entered was a great interpretation I really enjoyed the listen through , I had been listening as they were posted and really liked the ones I liked from the outset , great stuff all
25.
https://www.youtube....h?v=QQu6IpZ7PLc Trying to think what it reminds me of. I will have to find out more. Thanks
I fear there is not too much to find , one album and a couple of recently found tracks , but I like it
