1. me and my sister were glued to watching this... the thing ive always loved about Fagan is his interesting chord choices and the way he puts things together.. and importantly there attention to details .. that in its self is great.. but then you have his/there vision of what an overall song, that he and Becker had in there heads.. and the choice of what session musicians would work for this particular track....... no other band have entranced me so much.... parts 1 and 2.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP_2r9zbaIY well im sure lots havent heard it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz8AJh7_mKc
2. This sounds strange for me to say, even to myself, but really i have... i bought a non export 75 MIJ RI a while ago.. Simon sold it to me for 600 squids...... im a bugger for getting bored of a bass after a month or so..... but time has passed, and this bass is still amazing me.. strange ive had Modulus's Sadowsky's and this is where ive come back to.. simple man maybe.. when i got it, it had flats on, Even with flats on through the Aguilar it sounded good.. i put some DR SunBeams on it, and just wow.. i rolled the tone off to half and had front pickup 3/4's with the back to full, all flat on the EQ, and the bass really came alive... i had an American Vintage 75 RI, maple neck, black blocks... and strangely i didnt like it at all... way too much gloss on the whole bass.. it just sounded really harsh and bright... the MIJ's seem to gloss the neck but lay off on the fingerboard... make your own mind up about this. i had a very special Custom Shop 1970 Closet Classic Jazz bass at one time .. i really loved that bass, but if the two basses were put in front of me and i couldnt sell them, i would take the MIJ... it totally smokes it

6. Mayb
Thats cool , thanks for the reply. Do you think that the string length makes a difference to tone ??
Really depends on lots of variables...
7. Love Larry's playing, and my word Victor can groove..love the details in his playing also,
8. strange this has had no interest.. these non exports are top draw...
9. Can you remember how much these were new?
10.
RDJ was a coke head from age 8 thanks to his father (including a session later on with both and Jack Nicholson)...then crack and heroin before he went to jail and got away from his pushers.
i think you will find that stuff is way past him now..
11. Robert Downey Jr?????
12. well i dont know about everyone else but i want to see pics of Marts jazz...
13. i agree with you Gareth... ive never played a pre CBS Fender, but it would be nice to have an unbias opinion on what thousands of pounds more will get you.. ive gone way past the thought that a Japan Fender isnt really a proper Fender.. imo they do it better.. im thinking its really a personal thing and if you fall in love with an instrument, i... cant say i wouldnt fall for the romantic ideal... thats what im thinking alot of the vintage vibe is..... i just wouldnt fall for it when it comes to spending money.. im fairly sure my 75 RI could give any vintage 75 a whipping..
14.
This US MTD 535 on the video is around 3500$ (with some fancy top and another extras they around 4500$)
never liked the fancy tops anyway.. all MTD seem to do is either spalted maple or some other exotic top.. i really like the natural burst and would buy the cheaper model for that reason NJE.. you still enjoying that SR5?
15. im not sure how to explain it... but for the last 4 months if been teaching myself how to read... im not thinking im going to turn pro, but its just something ive always wanted to do.... now when i play (without reading) i find my self playing better and finding notes and playing around chords alot more interesting..... its also given me some discipline... for 2 months every evening for an hour ive been doing the study bass note quiz... found it very useful.. finding note exercises are great.. you gotta know every note anywhere on that fb.. its so essential imo.. i lost studying music for a while.. strange because music is why i started playing in the first place.. but im so glad ive got my energy and passion back for me to move forward...
16.
Who would say this is rubbish ? I think they're fantastic basses.
yes who would say that? bizzare..
17. i would travel for a %
18. without doubt i would take the MTD 535... especially the non exotic top cheaper series.. awsome tone.....
19. IMO Mart i would keep the 75 RI.. the dream of the perfect vintage Fender is great, but do i want all the hassle and money of finding the gem that has great frets and doest weigh a tonne... no.... ive recently bought an MIJ 75 RI and its just amazing.... i really cant see an original being that much better.. and even if an original had that nuance, its not worth 1000 pounds more.. keep it dude
20.
I think he wants them because of our flamboyant on stage look, they might suit this band, but I also play in other bands, and I don't like them generally so I'll skip it. This is how I dress on stage, probably not to most peoples taste either.
now that makes LED sense..
21. side LED's are useful... Dont like front LED's at all... i guess there a bit of fun, but i just cant see the point... i would want the stage to swallow me up if i had flashing lights on my bass... aaarrgghh.. just thought of it makes me cringe...
22. this old favorite is just the cream imo.. very slick... Okino is a master at arranging music... ... when she sings it turns into a real gem.
23. that is an insanely pretty bass!!... imo, alot of companies mess up when it comes to there take on jazz style pickguards, only Celinder and this get it right.. F bass got it wrong...
24. you show me a better groove bassist than Gene Perez..................... imo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLJ3RDTvmVc&list=FLzVUqeF1SLjxa78y2gd03dQ&index=167&feature=plpp_video
25. i never remember what i posted before.. oh well.. this is some seriously good funk... the brass section is awsome.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPfShFjfpx4&list=FLzVUqeF1SLjxa78y2gd03dQ&index=161&feature=plpp_video
