  1. He plays that bass line on a Lakland 5594.
  2. I know my Lakland's. Its a stunning bass.
  3. This..... I will never ever forget listening to Setting me Up on their first album on random play, then this played. It was a magic moment.
  4. Of course we dont just like bass do we. My favorite musicians are not bass players. A thread for your favourite musicians who dont play bass because we are mature and appreciate music as a whole. Anything from brass, drums, piano, guitar, synth or any stringed instrument. Anything that makes noise well.... Is all good here. This guy is just a MONSTER. Ive yet to see or witness a guitar player who has this much on the guitar. There is no doubt Norman Brown could probably play anything written down in front of him. Of course its subjective. But his feel and touch. James Ross is his bass player who is also a MONSTER...
  5. No never, I spent too much time listening to George Benson and Steely Dan. But The Allman Brothers blew me away once also.
  6. My sister sent me this... I didnt realise what I was about to hear. Its a wonderful record but good lord that groove at 4,40 mins... that is one of the most satisfying guitar solos (2 part) and groove sections ive ever heard that seems to go on and on, the galloping/ 16th note bass playing, the drumming is just amazing also..... just wow.
  7. I would safely say The Average White are probably in my top 5 favourite bands of all time. They have a fantastic mix of soul and funk for my personal taste..
  8. Those pickups are utterly killer. I put some in my Suhr J4 and just wow.
  9. You can tell the really early ones as they had the smaller Bartolini MM pickup.. Dan and Hugh just came out of nowhere and just made the greatest basses in the world imo.
  10. I bought one of these brand new from Guitar Guitar I think back in 2012 for £1199. The thinnest most comfortable neck on any Jazz bass ever. It sounded great with the stock bridge.
  11. This bass is uber rare and only available in Japan back then. I WOULD LOVE THIS BASS. https://www.fenderfever.com/bass/fender-jb-19992002---sunburst
  12. The Greatest Prince album ive ever listened to was a double album. Its The Hits B sides, amazing a record or all of the records on it were B sides.
  13. There are just sooooooooooooooo many gems.
  14. You cant be serious. Love Sexy,, Diamonds and Pearls, The Gold Experience were great albums. and his live music was just.... He can be hit and miss but so are our ears as listeners. The guy didnt have to have chart toppers to be probably the best musician of all time. Putting lyrics like "We can stroll the mezzanine, buy some dirty magazines" then talk about eating ice cream. I just think thats so clever. A guy that played 27 instruments should have every musician in the worlds respect. Im never usually a fanboy of anyone but when it comes to Prince. Well its Prince.
