1.
So I have an audition on Monday & currently weighing up whether to take my trusty old Fodera, a vintage Fender P, my flashy red sparkle Alleva Coppolo P or my relic'd Steed/Fender stack knob J. Luckily the Ritter is out on loan as that's probably a bit too flash for an audition May have to try & suss out if the band are 'traditional' Fender/Gibson types or whether I can get away with the Fodera
i reckon take the Fender Barrie.. see how it pans out...
 2. took me a while to really relax my playing.. i too fell into the trap of playing too many fills when i was younger.. i think with experience and confidence, playing a groove with a fill here and there becomes a more fullfilling experience, as you can take your time.... its all about controlling your expression

 5. its seems by a gnats knacker Fender is on top here, if not level pegging, lets face it a Fodera instrument is way better built with more attention to detail, than any Fender... but maybe pushing a bass design to the limits of craftmanship isnt that important to most of us.... i should have polled it... it does say something about the bass playing public in general i think.. no wonder there are so many P bass and Jazz bass copies

 13.
Must admit I agree with cd_david. Great player and technically/musically I think he is awesome, I just find his tone is not quite right. Also played one or two of his signature basses and found them to be quite bad when it came to flexibility of tone, particularly in passive mode.
what about his tone do you not like.. im not disagreeing with you im just interested in opinions... is it the active jazz, or just a jazz bass..? if you have played the sig bass and found the preamp not good, is because its not a very good one...

 18. i dont get bored of his slap.. but would sooo love to hear the guy play that bass fingerstyle on an album.. im not an i think this is wonderful slap playing for the song..for some reason i love the chromatic run just after 20 seconds.. little details that he plays, really stand out for me... 19. There are lots of opinions on slap bass i know.. but imo this the most musically clever slap ive ever seen... this guy is a real master of this technique imo... i know this has been shown before... was wondering if (if you like slap) this is quite universally liked...? 24. Im in the early stages of teaching myself how to read, and getting my theory to where i want it.... the book that im learning from uses alot of open strings... im neither for or against, but i just wanted some opinions..... ive never really used open strings in general.. do you think its a good habit to get into? i quite like the stretching, not using open strings, but are there any benefits to using open strings i might be missing ? thankyou
