1.
After a few sherbets last night, spotted something on Reverb.com. An Early 80's Aria SB-600 in Padouk Red. Having just bought an SB-1000, you think I'd be all sorted for 80's Matsumoku loveliness. Me too. But red wine had other ideas. https://guitarvillag...d-circa-1981-ec Oh well, looks good, and while I'm waiting for the SB-1000 to come back to life (pickup issue) this will tide me over. Coming from guitar village in Surrey.
Were you after the Elite in the 'wanted' section? Because I was just about to drop you a line...
 2.
+1 for Geddy. No doubt he can play, but is tone is awful, his songs are dull
3. That oversized 34" looks like it would suit me up a ding-dong.
 4. Focus have several songs titled Focus I, Focus II etc. Currently up to 9 I think.
 5. My old band Violent Intent - straight outta Sidcup - had a song called Violent Intent.
 6.
John's original
Wow!
 7.
played the slab again today. Whilst the strings were old, it didn't have that same growl. Now I'm nowhere near John's level, but I can get a similar tone to his through a Precision, but I really do think its to do with the amp and application of the player in this case. The strings were old mind you
Is this an original Slab or your Slab 66?
 8. Is there anything about the Precision you find difficult?
 9.
Have you heard of Tim Allen? He's on Facebook for sure, he does very good pickguards
10. I was just thinking about this today...
 11. Are you sure it's long scale?
 12.
One of the interesting things about Squire is that almost nothing he does is actually hard to play.
Sound Chaser's pretty demented.
 13. "Ya looze if ya snooze"?! 😂
 14.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a4gj3A9C3k One of my favourite tracks. This guy's always spot on with his bass tracks.
I do adore this album.
 15. Nothing gratuitous about these pics! Bring em on! My ultimate bass. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a second hand one by the time I'm 40...
 16.
How could it shift with 4 bolts in it?
As the neck extends so far out from the screws, and with a relatively small area actually being fixed to the body, it's quite easy to get some side-to-side wriggle from the neck if neck pocket isn't snug.
 17.
I'm surprised to hear that Cosmo Valdemar had a RW with a gap around the neck pocket My 3 Roadworns, and every other one I've seen, have no gap - they are a very snug fit.
That's comforting to know as I really would love another one. Everything else was spot on! I must have just had a dodgy one that slipped through.
 18.
Slightly OT but I've seen this written three times on here in the last week, not to mention all the other references in the past; what are peoples problems with neck pockets? You mean it was really roughly cut so it looked bad?
I mean there was a massive gap between the end of the neck and the body. It was so loose I could easily shift the neck from side to side when playing.
 19.
Hey there guys, I've got a weird ringing/rattling coming from Musicman Sterling Sub bass one of the budget series (Under £300) models. The ringing/ratting only happens when I play the low E open, I've adjusted the neck, bridge and made sure the machine heads are fully tightened e.g. the screws but the ringing/rattling is still there? I've read other forums and it seems like it's a trust rod fault but I'd like to get some more knowledge on this. Also the low E makes the pickup clip and distorted no matter how low the pickup is there, I'm thinking of throwing in a Seymour Duncan SMB4D to solve this hopefully but that pickup is for a 3 band EQ preamp but the Sub is 2 band is there a way to wiring it into a 2 band instead of a 3 band? Sorry for rambling and such but I bought the bass new a few days ago I tried it out in the shop I didn't notice these faults in store only since I've tried it out at home, maybe because there was other musicians about trying stuff so I wasn't able to hear the faults? The shop is 2 hours a way so just simple popping back isn't easy for me, seeing as I can't travel easily due to health. So any advice would be awesome!!
If it's new I would ring the shop first, they may be able to replace it for you.
 20. I used to own the red version, briefly. Easily the best Jazz I've ever played. Sadly mine had a terrible gap around the neck pocket so I returned it with heavy heart. I would love another one!
 21.
(As an aside though my attitude to Panto is a pound earned doing that gig is the same as a pound earned playing jazz or a session or whatever and deserves as much attention. Buys my Christmas presents for another year.)
Quite right. I'd love to have a gig like that! Some quite unpleasant snobbery rearing it's head on here, completely unnecessary.
 22. Beautiful bass in a rare colour! But you've wrapped the strings the wrong way 'round the posts...
 23. "So in conclusion, lad, your claim of enjoying the Beatles cannot be taken seriously as you are clearly too young to have 'been there' first time round."
