1. Shame there isn't a fancy one with a P pickup... 😕
2. Gone, all gone.
3. Couldn't you just attach the velcro to the foam?
4. Very nice. Reminds me of my old Encore- my first 'proper' bass! Except mine had gold hardware. Any tribute to JD deserves applause as far as I'm concerned - monster player.
5. I'm not a massive fan of Hawkwind, but the new stuff they're playing on Planet Rock is excellent. And yes, a fantastic bass thing going on.
6.
MB1. ...Got any specific trades in mind?
Not really... I'm open to persuasion
7. Price drop to £500.
8.
I briefly owned a Sansamp VT bass pedal, the non DI version, but they appear to be the same drive circuit and controls. At both in house and gig volumes I was able to coax some stunning Ampeg-a-like tones from it and I thought I'd finally nailed the sound that I'd been after for God knows how long. But..... Once the rest of the band kicked in, the bass just wouldn't cut through. The Sansamp bass driver has a reputation for not cutting through due to its inherent scooped sound, but from what I'd read online about the VT, it wasn't supposed to suffer from this. But no matter what I did with it or however much I cranked the mids or the amp up, it just wouldn't work with the rest of the band - we play a mixture of pop, soft rock and indie numbers so it's not as though I was up against a wall of Marshall's. There was a lot of additional compression in there too which flattened a lot of my playing dynamics. Having said that, I've not really seen anyone mentioning these issues with the VT so maybe it just didn't play well with the rest of my gear? Sorry, I've got no experience of the SCR DI so can't comment.
Were you using the VT bass as a normal pedal between bass and amp or in the effects loop? The Tech 21 Character pedals sound best if you bypass your amp's preamp stage in my experience. Particularly if you use the speaker sim.
9. Cor! I had a 4003 in this colour but sold it. Really want a 4003s though!
10.
Stephen Stills. Check out his playing on the first CS&N album.
Good lord, yes!
11.
I can only apologise for interrupting the direction of the current thread with possibilities of further discussion!
You've ruined this thread for me with your free-thinking.
12. Yngwie Malmsteen Mike Rutherford
13.
Andertons have the 'Bird on their system, although not yet available. They have an initial price of £629, but say that may change (either way possibly) by the time they get them. I thought they might come in around £450. £629 for an (admittedly gorgeous) Epi is a bit too much for my liking.
Got a link? I can't see it on their website.
14. That takes me back... It's exactly the same as my old school's bass. A much-admired instrument, considering I was learning on an old Eros EB copy at home 😊
15. Open to trade offers!
16. It's a Bass VI, not a Jaguar. I had one for a while, great fun but didn't use it much. My fave setting was neck and bridge pickups together, perfect for that Helter Skelter tone! New strings are a must, though. The LaBella flats are ideal.
17.
My '89 .
Wow.
18. Of course if we're being pedantic it's actually COWS. 😁 Kansas - awesome band. Dave Hope's one of my favourite players ever, fantastic tone.
19. The Workhorse Movement. Released one album on Roadrunner then split. Had a lot of support in the music press too. Terrific rock/soul/funk/rap/stoner metal. 😊
20.
Low action and hard touch for me
Me too. Love a bit of buzz and rattle.
21. Bump. Open to offers.
