1. Bet that sounds fat. My L-2000 mostly gets used on the neck alone.
2. Yeah my eBay notifications are configured to tell me when a T-40 gets listed, looks quite popular already !
3. Rules of the forum state you must give a price and not invite offers.
4. Tried tweaking the EQ centre of the mid pot ? (But now I can't remember if it was possible or it was pickup output you van change !)
5. Have received some sound advice. Removed !
6. I'd entertain that. PM me with pics etc
7. Looking to sell or trade my 79 Toaster. Its natural ash in good condition with minor buckle rash and otherwise excellent condition for a 33 year old instrument. Electronics are fully functional, all original and with no missing parts. Pickup rings are also intact. Reason for selling ? Not sure, it may be one of those GAS moments - looking for something with a bit more zing. For those not in the know, the T-40 was Peaveys' first bass and it has a somewhat surprising array of tones for a passive instrument of this age - the 2 humbuckers can be coil tapped individually giving you options for HH/HH, J/J, J/HH, HH/J, or each pickup alone (the bridge humbucker also has a coil selector in single coil mode). Also - the volume pots have capacitors too, meaning you get a different sound (lets top end, lots of bitey mids) with both pickups selected but one pickups volumes on zero as you do selected a pickup on it's own, crazy ! Comes with original hard shell case that's in working condition, by that I mean it's seen some life but still offers protection. It could do with some new snaplocks but other than that it's fine. Inside is a plush 70s brown fur, chic. Also has original owners manual which smells of the 1970s (make of that what you will !). Trades ? Hmm. I'm open to enticement, offer me what you will and the worst I will do is politely decline. Sale value is set at £450 - there is no depreciation on this since April ! Thus I would expect trades offered for instruments of a similar value (2nd hand, not what they were new). Many thanks, Machines. (pics to follow, work is blocking my stash - following stolen from FlatEric but other than different grain and slight pitting on bridge, is a good comparison)
8. Trevor at PMT knows his onions, why don't you want to go there ?
9. Please do, a full history would be great too as I find the T-40 forums a bit of a mess.
10. I remember Sound Control Salford having about 30+ Warwicks in stock around 2005.
11. My Overwater Contemporary J5 was heavier than my T-40 and is about the same as the MIM Jazz I had.
12.
John Myung apparently has it all in techniques from what I read about him, but he doesn't exclusively slap does he ? I dont know much dream theatre stuff. The guitar being where the bass is, is a good explanation for not hearing I suppose. But guitar ego is overriding all sense.
Myung is awesome, very modest and happy to be standing at the back out of the spotlight. He can easily shred along with Petrucci and match his solo lines. Check this out, 12 mins but worth watching through:
13. Its just progress. Crazy kids eh ?
14. Thanks for the suggestion Paul S. It should be common sense for a seller to check the wanted section to try and make an easy sale but it's not something we'd really look to force upon people.

I really fancy a T-60 to go with my T-40 ! What's the going rate FlatEric ?
16. Opeth \m/ Saw them in 2002/3ish and they were epic. Got every album and still listen to them most days. Alas I'm lazy and if its not in Brum I won't go .
17. My rings are intact.
18. I had a 2005 55-02 which was fantastic but looked a bit dull. Not played any recent ones though. Edit: the previous owner of my 5502 was Rasta
19. Mine isn't going anywhere, can't think of anything that could replace it.
20. Saw one of them close up, they look awful. Not played it but surely it's just an exercise to sell to people desperate to have a Gibson but can't afford £800+ ?
21.
It really isn't that much fun being a mod anyway.
This - have been doing it since 2006 (since Bassworld) and the 'fun' isn't that frequent, but in general I know things I do both publicly and behind the scenes keep the site running as well as possible and I may have helped people use the forum/resolve disputes with others etc, that is pretty much the only reward, which for me is good enough.
22.
Agreed but I think there are many members who have contributed much more than some of the new mods and I for one feel a little overlooked.
Postcount is only one factor but not really indicative of any suitability really is it ? Previous behaviour and general attitude is also taken into account as well. On this occasion I was not involved with any suggestions as who to recruit, any suggestions of a democratic process I find a little pointless as it's 'us' that run the site, we need to ensure we decide who is appointed a moderator and be sure they are suitable and unlikely to let the elevated permissions go to their head (and ensuring we get on with them is of course helpful). Some people have in the past been overlooked for this alone. On a more positive note, I can't wait to get GuitarChat up and running .
23. D'Addario for me. Very wide choice of strings and reasonably priced online, also those coloured ballends (*teehee*) look fantastic ! I've got Chromes on 2 basses, XLs on the L-2000 and the T-40 will get some too, thankfully I know they'll fit as I can order extra long for the throughbody - not many brands have so much choice.
24. G&L are very overlooked by most players. They top Fender on design as after all, they're the evolution of Leo's original designs. I think cosmetics may let them down though, the Tribute JB2 looks very plain and dull but would easily out class MIM and even some MIA Jazzes. If you like the SB2 and aren't bothered about its understated looks then get it, it will be a great addition and will also give you a little individuality from all the Fender fans.
25. I'm surprised it's not a 34" scale but for this kind of thing I don't think it'd cause an issue tonally. I think longer scales are more important when seeking out a more refined 'clear' tone, that isn't what these are for. EDIT: Damn curiosity, I want one of these now: http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php/?partno=0327602506
