1. I'm no good with slogans so i'll have to pass on that part !
2. BUMP is something people post to update their thread so it comes back to the top of the forum. You could say it's an acronym for Bring Up My Post. Anyway - £200 for this is CRAZY. I'd snap his hand off.. if I didn't have one already .
3. 130lbs !?! I remember when I weighed 130lbs ! Looks killer though, the perfect rig for a powerlifter.
4. No, the JM2 comes in Inca Silver and Plum Pearl Metallic:
5. What colour ?! Adding some pics will definitely help you get some interest
6. Samples generally pan from neck/both and then bridge pickup, a bit of clipping here and there due to varying outputs. These samples are to showcase the tone of my basses - not my ability ! 7. If you wanted new there is: Ashdown MAG300 GK Backline 600 Peavey TOUR 450 Warwick Profet 3.3
8. My Mexican Jazz is... ok. New pickups improved the sound a lot but the neck and bridge are what let it down. I'm sure a Badass would be great but i'm not spending £50 on a bridge ! The neck is a bit of a pain, action has to be quite high to ensure a buzz free high end, low end isn't so bad. A previous owner had also stripped the truss rod nut but I've managed to sort that out and ajust the neck. Might get some heavier strings.. might make life easier. Even though i've slagged it off - I'm glad I have it, it has that great old school sound to it and I imagine, these problems are nothing compared to how some Fenders have been.
9. If you like the Ashdown then get upgrade to an ABM - has a valve preamp which will give a nice natural gain. Clipping the preamp on the MAG won't sound too good.
10. Have a look here for a recent thread on the subject http://basschat.co.uk/lofiversion/index.php/t47329.html
11. Yeah - was having issues with trying to stop it clipping at times, I think I rushed it at the end. Had to use a different MP3 converter as it sounded terrible first time round as well.
12. Haha, it can do a lot of weirdo spacey noises but I kept it to being a preamp .
13. 117Mb ? Whoa ! Don't suppose you can resize it or get it on a streaming website ?
14. +2 on the Yamaha BB series.
15. Here's a little tune I'd written ages ago but never gotten around to recording.. rendition is not perfect but I have a short attention span ! Inspired by Steve Lawson's Grace & Gratitude. Recorded using Warwick Corvette $$ into Behringer V-Amp and Audicity. All clean apart from solo which has a little reverb on it. There's probably a lot I could do with it to improve it but I haven't the time . Loved and Lost
16. It's preference really, most 5 string basses have narrower spacing than their 4 counter-part. Some people find this too tight and prefer wider spacing to match a 4 string.
17. The RBX is alder like my Jazz.. the Corvette is swamp ash.
18. Not a bad price that - would make a great 2nd bass.
19. My Corvette is lighter than my Jazz/Precision and RBX (I reckon it's about 8lbs)
20. Fender: Reliable, solid, does the job and suits everything. The vanilla of basses, but who doesn't like vanilla ? Musicman: Battling it out with Fender but never winning, high quality basses but perhaps overpriced. Often misjudged as not being versatile. Lakland: Taking Fender's designs and improving the quality, nothing innovative but suits the bassist looking for a super Fender. Ibanez: Some great designs but seems to lack the kudos of the US manufacturers. Mainly played by metallers. Yamaha: Much like it's Japanese brother, Yamaha make some cracking instruments but they lack the history and street cred to be played by many bassists beyond their starter years. Warwick: The sound of wood ? Original designs (let's not mention the Streamer though !) and new models frequently. Chunky neck doesn't suit everyone, definitely a Marmite bass. Sadowsky: For Fender fans with too much cash . Washburn: Nothing wrong with them, good starter basses but I wouldn't be seen dead with one.
21. I didn't like the solid finish ones (Orange/Blue/Gun Metal) but this one in Wine Red looks fantastic. If it was a 5 string and I had the cash i'd be sorely tempted - in fact how much are you after ? You never said
22. Those mods would probably sort it out I think.. shame you had to do them in the first place though !
23. Fret spacing is the same on both of them (34 inch scale basses), it's the string spacing which differs.
24. They were also available with an active preamp option (extra charge), in which case it will be a 2 band MEC preamp.
25. EBS_Freak is quite right, look at the B/E string saddle - they aren't parallel to the through-neck. I can't see any advantage to this..
