Meh, I know how you feel. My Yamaha RBX775 is essentially unused but I feel like I can't sell it as it was bought by my parents as a 21st birthday present. It's probably worth £150-£175 tops as well (it was £420 new). I know if I got rid of it I'd want another fretless anyway - even though I never play it !

My Mexican Jazz is... ok. New pickups improved the sound a lot but the neck and bridge are what let it down. I'm sure a Badass would be great but i'm not spending £50 on a bridge ! The neck is a bit of a pain, action has to be quite high to ensure a buzz free high end, low end isn't so bad. A previous owner had also stripped the truss rod nut but I've managed to sort that out and ajust the neck. Might get some heavier strings.. might make life easier. Even though i've slagged it off - I'm glad I have it, it has that great old school sound to it and I imagine, these problems are nothing compared to how some Fenders have been.

If you like the Ashdown then get upgrade to an [url="http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=abm"]ABM[/url] - has a valve preamp which will give a nice natural gain. Clipping the preamp on the MAG won't sound too good.

Yeah - was having issues with trying to stop it clipping at times, I think I rushed it at the end. Had to use a different MP3 converter as it sounded terrible first time round as well.

Haha, it can do a lot of weirdo spacey noises but I kept it to being a preamp .

Here's a little tune I'd written ages ago but never gotten around to recording.. rendition is not perfect but I have a short attention span ! Inspired by Steve Lawson's Grace & Gratitude. Recorded using Warwick Corvette $$ into Behringer V-Amp and Audicity. All clean apart from solo which has a little reverb on it. It's preference really, most 5 string basses have narrower spacing than their 4 counter-part. Some people find this too tight and prefer wider spacing to match a 4 string.

The RBX is alder like my Jazz.. the Corvette is swamp ash.
