1. Nice one - I got a bass room too ! It's great to have a proper space to make a mess in .
2. Had this Corvette $$ barely 36 hours now. It has loads of warmth, it isn't as hifi as the Lakland 5502 was - but that's why I wanted to change ! It can be seriously snarling and evil, I've found you have to really dig in to get the most out of it. Yet on the neck pickup, cutting the highs and boosting the lows it can do a seriously brilliant reggae/dub sound. It seems to lack a little top end (acoustically too) so it might be the strings need changing, will see how it goes .
3. Checked out both of those vids, I honestly couldn't tell the difference unless I looked at the screen. Sell the TF and keep the 71 .
4. Met up with wildman today, swapped my Lakland 55-02 for the Corvette. The pictures don't do it any justice - looks so much better in the... wood ?! Cheers wildman !

6. I get away with it here. In fact thinking about it for such a large organisation hardly anything is blocked, only objectionable material really. I usually come on here using the lofi version which looks less conspicuous. Even if it does get blocked i'm a domain admin and will sort it out
7. I have 2 x 4's and 2 x 5's. I prefer the extra notes I get on the 5 string when I want to use them (rarely do I need them as such). I do however generally play more consistently on a 4 string. Had a 6 string once but that was definitely overkill for me - I was extremely ropey with it and the high C just got in my way without me utilising it at all.
8. I had a V940FL. I personally feel they should be avoided as they can have poor electronics (bad wiring etc). There are other options available around the same price range - I just can't think of any right now ! I'm sure people will chip in .
9. If I had to have just the one then a Jazz, both would be ideal though. Oh wait.. I have both yay !
10. I think they're a pile them high and sell them low type of company - customer service is probably not their forté. Got my Yamaha RBX775 from them in 2004, was fine but that was 5 years ago..
11. I think G&L's don't get the credit they deserve and seem to lack a bit of kudos. It's a great shame as I feel it was one of Fender's ultimate tone machines (above the Jazz and Precision). Bargain ? Oh yes. I'd have snapped it up too.
12. Could the microswitch could just be 180° from what it's supposed to be ?! Easily rectified i'd have thought.
13. Come to me my pretty.. muahahaha !
14. I'll likely continue to buy BGM regardless of it's content. If only to flick through and dismiss it in 10 mins (like the latest issue). Previous issues have been reasonable, some even decent, but most for me have missed and alienated the majority of bassists. There are too many reviews of custom basses, generally 2-3 per issue (at a guess). There should be 2-3 a year for me. The aforementioned majority don't and won't buy custom basses, they want to know about popular brands and instruments, not something that costs 10x as much and looks like a coffee table (this is quoting other people !) I think it might be interesting to review OLD gear, not brand new top of the range stuff all the time, especially since the 2nd hand market is so hot at the moment (compared to new).
15. Yeah - a rare one for sure but in today's climate I don't think you'd get that much. Perhaps hang onto it until better times ?
16. I've kept quiet till now amazingly ! I love my ABM, have had nothing but Ashdown amps since I started playing. I have had lots of opportunity to play other amps, and whilst some of them sound better and clearer than the Ashdown gear alone, when i'm cranking it in a rock band - they can't compete. For me Ashdown make the ultimate rock amps, sure they can be used for other things, but they aren't meant to be clear or hi-fi. Quality wise - this ABM has had the one fault, the valve drive stopped working. Took it to a tech and got it repaired for £40 (power suplpy to valve had failed). Other than that, none of my Ashdown gear has had any fault at all.
17. I prefer named brands because most of the time - I know what i'm getting. Also when it comes to selling it on, everyone else does too ! I'm not tied down to the brands being fashionable, i'm more bothered about them being known of.
18. Apologies for the negative comments you received jonny (now removed). There is no requirement to contribute on this forum to use the for sale section, we do unfortunately have a few people who take it upon themselves to take offence at people who don't .
19. Same neck, same body. The only differences are the pickups/preamp and knobs ! Have you listened on here to check out the tonal differences ? 20. Saw 2 of these in Express Music in Solihull, alas they were in the window and I saw them on my way out. Looked nice though - definitely wanted to try one out, maybe next time.
21. Volume/Treble/Mid/Bass, in that order IIRC.
22. Whoa - GAS ! Love those DJ's, they're such a unique take on the Jazz design.
23. I think you may struggle to sell this as one piece without taking a hit on the price. I think you'd definitely get more selling them separately .
24.
I've had a couple of BB614's & the 5-string version is excellent, too. It's an oddity in the budget 5-string world, as the B-string portion of the bridge is extended. So you've got a 34" scale bass with a 35" scale B-string.
Not quite. The extended bridge decreases the break angle of the string over the saddle making it less likely to break. If the B string were a 35" scale it'd be out of tune since the fretboard is spaced for a 34" .
25. Out of interest - do you find your experience of it to be similar to the review ? Out of all the basses i've reviewed it's the only one I wanted to keep.
