  1. I don't think so. I think it's safe to say they're replicas made from a mixture of Fender and third-party parts. Very nice they are too.
  2. I'm not sure what to say to that. I'm guessing the bass was clearly advertised as a Limelight..?
  3. Was it described and sold as a legit Fender, or was it rather a misunderstanding by the buyer? I'm not sure the populace of BC should be penalised for it...
  4. Could someone refer me to an instance where a fake Fender has been sold on Basschat as legit, to someone who believed it to be real?
  5. Yep, and the reason why is referenced a couple of times.
  6. It's a no-Rickenbacker sale place because Rickenbacker aggressively defend their intellectual property.
  7. So... we ban the sale of overt replicas, and allow only the sale of either genuine basses, or the surreptitious sale of fakes. I'm really not sure what the benefit of this approach is...?
  8. Can't agree with that. There's some cack, but he's got a canny catalogue.
  9. I'm glad someone else doesn't rate the Zeppelin clip - it made my toes curl. Great musicians, but.. doused in saccharine.
  10. Sounds like Lee Pomeroy. Marvellous player.
  11. Mistake #1 - he bought it Mistake #2 - he played it Mistake #3 - he left his camera on autofocus What do I win?
  12. 53, with 8 different bands. About average for me. Next year is looking quiet at the moment, but then I have this panic every year... I should be used to it by now.
  13. Thankfully not all gigs are like that, but... yep, terrible bass mixes are a scourge of modern life. As a bass player, you just have to do your part, enjoy it, and hope for the best. Personally, I like to play with dynamics regardless. It reminds me that I've learned something over the last 30 years.
  14. It's about tone and attack, not volume. The key is knowing when to use it... some get it, some don't.
  15. Good man.
  16. Ashdown’s marketing ain’t getting any better, is it?
  17. What a fascinating thread. Great work. Cheers!
  18. Ah - that'll be why, then. I guess they must be confident that enough winds on the tree will do the job..?
  19. Hmm.. that's pretty straight. Most Jakes have a substantial rake back. My Green Valley Jake doesn't, as it has a flame headstock... so it has a string tree.
  20. I think I'll have something to post here in a month or two...
  21. Oh my word. God’s cabs. A single 12 is fantastic. Pair them up, and they’re exponentially better. GLWTS.
  22. Cool - I’ll sure to be great! I’ve got a nice Rode set-up for my DSLR, but I tend coy to use it ‘cos it’s a bit conspicuous. Looks and sounds great when I do use it, though!
  23. Nice! Out of interest, do you find the clips I’ve posted in this thread with the Zoom lacking in any way? Be tough - I can take it :-)
  24. Just reviving this thread with a video shot on my Q4n on Friday night. The audio is mostly from the Q4n, but because it was just picking up the monitors, I've mixed in a little bit from a Q2HD (switched to audio only) out in the crowd.
  25. Something seasonal from last night's scratch band gig. We had a couple of hours rehearsal the night before, but just laughed for most of it. What a hoot.
