  1. To be fair - have any of us actually paused to consider the sheer volume of kittens and puppies that have perished as a result of Basschat's lack of order? Maybe Prowla has a point.
  2. You keep referring to thefretboard.co.uk - what's that got to do with Basschat?
  3. Of course it's a valid conversation - it's a pretty polarising one, too. Expect strong opinions on both sides.
  4. I don't think they're getting personal. They're just trying to find out what's driving your thoughts on this.
  5. I think we all need to be protected from this scourge - a menace which is ruining the BC experience. (Also, I think Fender should maybe look at the reaction these things get, and perhaps learn from it.)
  6. That's fair enough. Chances are some poor webmonkey has made an honest mistake, and will have had a pretty nervy Christmas as a result.
  7. Good stuff. I feel differently about it.
  8. I don't think so. I think it's safe to say they're replicas made from a mixture of Fender and third-party parts. Very nice they are too.
  9. I'm not sure what to say to that. I'm guessing the bass was clearly advertised as a Limelight..?
  10. Was it described and sold as a legit Fender, or was it rather a misunderstanding by the buyer? I'm not sure the populace of BC should be penalised for it...
  11. Could someone refer me to an instance where a fake Fender has been sold on Basschat as legit, to someone who believed it to be real?
  12. Yep, and the reason why is referenced a couple of times.
  13. It's a no-Rickenbacker sale place because Rickenbacker aggressively defend their intellectual property.
  14. So... we ban the sale of overt replicas, and allow only the sale of either genuine basses, or the surreptitious sale of fakes. I'm really not sure what the benefit of this approach is...?
  15. Can't agree with that. There's some cack, but he's got a canny catalogue.
  16. I'm glad someone else doesn't rate the Zeppelin clip - it made my toes curl. Great musicians, but.. doused in saccharine.
  17. Sounds like Lee Pomeroy. Marvellous player.
  18. Mistake #1 - he bought it Mistake #2 - he played it Mistake #3 - he left his camera on autofocus What do I win?
  19. 53, with 8 different bands. About average for me. Next year is looking quiet at the moment, but then I have this panic every year... I should be used to it by now.
  20. Thankfully not all gigs are like that, but... yep, terrible bass mixes are a scourge of modern life. As a bass player, you just have to do your part, enjoy it, and hope for the best. Personally, I like to play with dynamics regardless. It reminds me that I've learned something over the last 30 years.
  21. It's about tone and attack, not volume. The key is knowing when to use it... some get it, some don't.
  22. Good man.
  23. Ashdown’s marketing ain’t getting any better, is it?
  24. What a fascinating thread. Great work. Cheers!
