  1. For a long time Bernard Purdie has claimed he overdubbed a number of Ringo's parts. I doubt he'd peddle that guff if he didn't rate his playing...!
  2. I disagree with most of what you say, but will concede that George was a.. lazy guitarist. The rooftop concert. The 'All You Need Is Love' solo. Even McCartney and Lennon eclipse him at the end of the Abbey Road medley. But he was a bit off-the-wall, influenced the direction of the band and wrote handful of classics. I strongly disagree re: Ringo. Even Bernard Purdie rates him enough to try to steal his credit. McCartney's 'twee' stuff often has a bit of a sinister undercurrent which appeals to me, and I have no problems with Lennon's voice.
  3. You do, although it ain't what it used to be. And the feedback system is now a nonsense.
  4. OMG that's beautiful. I need it in my life.
  5. Wharrabargain!
  6. Aye, if only more people had listened to me....
  7. It’s maybe a discussion that needs its own thread, but my view is that stickies should be reserved for important housekeeping stuff, whereas content should reflect the activity of the forum. Besides, sticky blindness is a thing - people just skip over them. Again, just my view. And apologies for the derail :-)
  8. No, your terminology is spot-on. Stickies aren't really popular any more, 'cos people are used to searching for stuff.
  9. Welcome, Hal!
  10. It is a great thread. Stickies are bit passé though :-)
  11. Crackers.
  12. Sounds to me like: Pedal on the G End with G Bb C G SOLO: Bb G# Eb STEP DOWN: Bb > G# > G REST OF THE SOLO: G F C BACK INTO CHORUS Hope this helps...
  13. Because he started something new, maybe?
  14. Loads of admiration for the guy. I've read his biog, watched clips of him play with my mouth agape, wandered how marvelous it must have been to be in his presence, acknowledged his influence, and understood that he changed the world of bass playing.... ...but I don't really like any of his tunes. Also, Dry Cleaner from Des Moines would have been better through Jamerson's taste filter. IMO, obviously.
  15. There's a couple of options with the Marus one, neither of which involve cartoon fingers :-)
  16. That headstock logo, though... yikes!
  17. Aye... I tried that too, and thought 'Naaaah...'
  18. Matching headstocks on maple is bad enough, but a matching headstock on a maple P..? *voms*
  19. I don't know how close to an EBS amp it is, but it's a GREAT pre. Knocks seven bells out of the SansAmp.
  20. Ah, if only Maruszczyk did purple... they could save people 700 quid.
  21. That is odd. You’d think the default would be a single notification for a reply to a thread, like wot other places do. Otherwise you’re relying on people manually checking back, rather than being prompted.
  22. Even if you recreate your signature, I think the default is not to display them. You’ll need to turn them back on.
  23. Hey hey! Could we set the notification defaults in settings so that: Email reply notifications are automatically set to 'on' 'Only send one email notification for content I follow until I revisit the community' is selected by default It'll really help to keep the discussion moving :-)
  24. No... his prices are a little rich for my liking. Oh, there's Nick's Guitars in Wetherby, too. Not much in at the moment, but sometimes has some nice stuff.
