  1. And if California slides into the ocean Like the mystics and statistics say it will I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill The wonderful Warren Zevon.
  2. He still is. His new album is mint.
  3. I enjoy both. A good song is a good song.
  4. 'Cos it's creating a paragraph. If you don't want one, press... ...shift + return.
  5. re: the voice, he sings them so well in the spirit of Geddy, though. I can quite happily listen to him sing the parts without thinking it's forced. I've seen that Tom Sawyer clip loads on FB, and every time I've just thought 'Why?'. It's like the old That's Life clip of a rollerskating parrot.
  6. ^^Actually, yes. Closer to the 20th fret too.
  7. No - it's closer to the nut, and further from the bridge (see above pic)..
  8. Yep, I can confirm the P pickup on the Jake is closer to the neck than my '71 P.
  9. In the meantime, I've just put this together. It's completely unscientific, but maybe a bit of food for thought....
  10. I seem to recall it's slightly closer to the neck when measured from the bridge. I'll check tonight...
  11. I wouldn't write it off entirely, but the decal is dodgy at best.
  12. I'm fairly sure Maruszczyk P pickups are out of position by default - did they move yours for you?
  13. Hmmm... that's weird! Daft question - when you're searching, are you changing the drop-down to 'all content'..?
  14. What kind of thing are you searching for?
  15. It has to suit the music. Is the performer all about the songs? Forget the theatrics. It can go too far the other way. IMO Rush, for example. The last few times I found myself thinking... wouldn't it be great if it was just them and a few lights..?
  16. Don't take it the wrong way - it was just a test. Is it just on the phone you're having a problem, or desktop too?
  17. It might well sound different, but you suggested it'll never sound like a P. I'm not sure I'd agree with that.
  18. All else being equal, I think the wood and electrics would have a far bigger impact on the tone than a chunk of body being missing.
  19. That was pretty much immediate...?
  20. I have to say it seems to be flying along for me. Let’s try uploading a couple of pics via 4G...
  21. It's a little-known fact that the position of the P pickup does vary across P/J's. It seems to stem from whether the J is in the 60s or 70s position. If it's in the 70s, i.e. closer to the bridge, the P is 'correct'. If it's in the 60s position, the P pickup is usually shunted closer to the neck to keep the distance between the pups the same. If the J pup is in the 60's position, and the P is 'correct', they'll look noticeably closer together than you'd usually see. IMO, that small amount of shift has a significant impact on the sound of the P pickup.
  22. O ye'll tak' the high road, and I'll tak' the low road...
  23. Hooray.. now I can start that thread on classical mechanics equations I've been itching to kick off... J = N m = kg m2 s−2 Happy days!
