  1. I have got a bass back from loan and the set up is shocking. A bit of me thinks I should be able to set it up myself, another bit of me says give it to the pros. A new bone has been fitted and needs to be taken down. What is the cost of setting up a guitar now days? Ta Mike
  2. I have been in a band that has more musicians leave than we have had rehearsals, and that the musicians you need are only hard to find when you actually need them.
  3. I would consider whether you believe this guy is going to make it. If you really believe he is then hang around (as much for the experience as anything else) as opportunities may present themselves that you may not have expected to happen and you have to be in it to win it, but be frugal with any goodwill and do not be afraid to ask the direct question "What's in it for me?". Altenatively graciously walk away and see if he comes back.
  4. I suggest a song whilst it is pretty current, Singer says I'm not doing that it is crap, Singer chooses own song which we do, two years later singer suggests song I suggested two years ago as a brilliant tune and why didn't we do it sooner!!! Sadly a true story.
  5. Impossible to say. Jake Bug is doing a throw back style as did Amy Winehouse, and some songs are just brilliant and timeless. For example (not my favourite) I will always love you was a bigger hit much later than when written. I say to my kids "That's a great pop song" eg Little Mixs current offerering expecting it will be thrown out with tomorrows dishwater, however Uptown Funk is the only tune recently that I think will have any real longevity. all IMHO.
  6. I see this as you are out for what appears to be reasonable reasons and people rarely chage their mind once made. IMO it depends how good a gig this was for you on what you do next. If it was amazing then it is worth chasing with compromise, if it was average I would just send back "no worries, really enjoyed playing the show, let us know when you want us" and keep it on good terms as he may have other events.
  7. Howdy, I am in Chichester, used to play in pompey but we are too metal for any of the venues that actually pay bands ;-)
  8. The output is so low that it doesn't have the guts it should... I will have to have a think
  9. I do have a warwick rock bass vampire sitting about doing nothing. Will this be an easy swap?
  10. I love the bass and it plays really well but the output is shockingly low. I cant get it to distort on my GK MB 500, whereas my Warwick is a dirty beast. Maybe I need pup and circuitry swap, It has 5 nobs and I turn them all up full.
  11. Yep, but even with a new battery the output is low. I suppose it could be the circuitry!!!!
  12. I have an Ibanez K5 fieldy, and compared to my Warwick the output is very low. So my first question is, does anyone else have one and agree they generally have a low output? Second is, what is a regular output and how do you measure it? Third, with the presumption it is the pickups, what would people recommend for metal? Ta Mike
  13. Any Korn is Slipknot is good on a fiver ;-)
  14. To answer your question, if it has taken it ok once, it should be ok to keep taking it.
  15. I agree, the subs should have a crossover in so they will take all the lows out of the tops. You should run the bass through there as well to fill out the sound.
  16. Had a great chat and may need to review the Marcus Miller bass range ;-)
  17. I have very visibly thrashed all strings at the same time and said to the sound guy and said I can't hear anything. The problem is the drums and bass live near to each other in the sonic spectrum. Sound guys always set the drum level first and bass last and think the drums carry the groove. Oh how wrong they are....
  18. Just been looking at some speakers on ebay, turns out the seller is a fellow bass chatter. I think we have agreed a sale, but in our chatting about all things bass, he may have given me some GAS!!!!! Aaaargh, don't tell the Mrs. ;-)
  19. I know the Mighty Fly and they are pretty exceptional and very talented. I have seen them nail the full version of Bat out of Hell,so there is nothing they are afraid of. I was nearly tempted to put my hat in the ring but just too far away from me.
  20. [sup]Yes, but nowhere near as much, maybe 5% just for the bragging rights[/sup]
  21. Old Maiden is like when you smell something that you smelt at a really important place in your life, it just takes you back to your teens and everything that went with it. Probably the best pound for pound band in the world, not my very favourite but very close.
  22. I suspect they won't know until it is opened up as it could be one of several things. Am going to try GB music in Bognor.
