  1. Don't suppose you would consider a trade for a GK2001 RB or Mark Bass Jeff Berlin Combo? Ta Mike
  2. Had a great weekend, all the bands were pretty good. The sound engineering was quite shocking at times. No bass at all for the first song by Airborne. This is inexcusable. Too much bass drum most of the time. Dissapointed by food this year, normally excellent but just a bit meh. Made loads of new friends and drank lots of cheap beer, so a brilliant weekend...
  3. Don't suppose you head down to the south coast at all?
  4. Every time I hear the house engineer that is all you get. All changes when the main bands engineer comes on as they will get booted by the rest of the band if the sound is poor.
  5. I am going to get in sooooo much trouble for this, but if it is still available, I will have it?
  6. The biggest problem you will find is the lack of space. Even some big pubs still only put a tiny space for bands, sometimes next to the route for the toilet. Some venues don't care how good you are as long as you put money over the bar. Also management can change frequently which can throw things about.
  7. Phew, I was getting nervous as I can't afford but want one. Glad it's gone ;-)
  8. I think you have to look at the audience. Not many youngsters want to go to watch live music or can afford pub prices.
  9. I will try and be there ;-)
  10. I may be crazy and try some flats. I have no idea what it will do, the world could explode!!!
  11. I did wonder about the truss rod, but thought the tension wouldn't be too much more. Ta
  12. No one would have believed... This was my first vinyl too...just amazing
  13. I have a few 5 ers. Ibanez K5, Warwick Streamer, Yamaha RBX775, but I am feeling the need for the precision sound. There are no precision 5ers around the market place or flea bay. I guess I want the Steve Harris sound, (but don't want the west ham sticker). I have heard the Nate Mandella signature is a very similar set up.
  14. We got banned from a pub because management changed hands and another band who play similar music had some bikers in on Goodwood Race day and the new manager didn't like them so they stopped all heavy music.
  15. I am struggling to find a 5 string precision that meets my needs. Apart from having to change the nut, if I were to get a 4 string and put B E A D on it. Would this lead to any other issues? Ta Mike
  16. Id have this if you can get it down to the south coast (Chichester), if not good luck with the sale. Ta
  17. I hear you, but could you imagine Steve Harris without his signature sound, which I suspect has significantly influenced the whole metal scene to either sound like Maiden or not sound like maiden. I need to look up what a Wizard Thumper is before I get arrested...
  18. Amazing to watch live. He makes it look so effortless. Not a big WD fan but love Mr Big.
  19. I agree, I suspect the wood / shape will not affect sound. Sustain maybe. Someone would need to swap all the innards / strings / necks etc over to do a test like that to prove it. I suspect someone in Japan is working on that right now ;-)
  20. Perhaps ALL P basses just to be certain ;-)
  21. It was a different backline. All sounded great, which is what you would expect of touring bands at this level. You could tell they were all precisions though just from the sound.
  22. Maybe not best but least worst. I play 90% pick as I need the attack for metal. Interesting about the squires as my brother (in t USA) has one which I thought sounded fine but I didn't have a decent sized rig to run it through
