Time wasters are a pain in the arse but they won't be put off by "no time wasters" because they're muppets. That's part of the problem.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
uncle psychosis replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Are any deko owners having buyer remorse? My acoustic fretless 4 is nice and the only work that needs doing is the high action / nut slot deepening..... Fighting with myself whether I can justify keeping it (too many basses, and others are objectively better instruments)!!! Anyone else have this "problem"?
I bought one of the Mosrite Baritones. I really like it...but it has two niggles that need me to do actual proper tech work to it and I'm really frustrated with it. I'm tempted to rage-quit it, sell it, and buy a more expensive baritone. -
Eagerly awaiting my bespoke P-bass!
This is why I went down the Maruszczyk route. Fender CS / US Lakland quality, and bespoke, for MIM money.
Please stop posting pictures of that. My bank manager doesn't like it. -

Can you really not get that colour combo on a standard Fender? Wow. Personally if I were going bespoke I'd get a more unusual finish but it's your bass get what you like :-) Enjoy! -
First public appearence - what to play?
uncle psychosis replied to Bobthedog's topic in General Discussion
Don't play Dakota. Please. If only because you don't want the answer to "what was your first gigging experience" to involve the words "Dakota" or "Stereophonics". Nothing wrong with taking a cheat sheet on stage. I've done it at gigs for songs I was unsure of, you don't need a music stand. Just a piece of A4 paper and a permanent marker, write the chords out nice and big on the page and place it at your feet. If you're only doing one or two songs you'll only need a single sheet and no one in the audience will know its there. -
I think these look fantastic and are definitely the kind of thing I could see myself owning in the future. £1000+ is too much for my blood but hopefully it will be a success and the technology will drop in price. The workflow and routing options alone are worth a fair chunk of cash.

My PB50 came today. I've only had about ten minutes with it but I can't find anything at all "wrong" with it. The neck seems straight, the relief is ok, a little bit of fret buzz but I'm heavy handed and that's a common occurance for me and new basses. Lovely bit of wood, the electronics work and it sounds decent. The only things that let it down are a really cheap looking pickguard, the pots are a bit uneven in terms of travel and the tuners are really stiff (but seem to hold tune OK). Hardly a problem on a cheap bass. I'd want to do a more thorough inspection but I reckon I could gig this as is. This also came with a cable, Allen keys, daddario strings, and a Wilkinson pickup... ... and after using my thomann review voucher cost me £8.80 delivered. Blinkin' 'eck. -
Small combo choices for woodwind bands
uncle psychosis replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've got a Warwick Blue Cab 20 which might fit the bill, if you can find one. Its got a ported 10" cabinet, built-in tilt-back stand, 3 band EQ, passive/active inputs, FX loop, 20W of very nice sound, line out, headphone out, and weighs about 15kg. I bought mine as a practice amp but I reckon it would be ace for use in a small ensemble of woodwinds. -
Looks fantastic :-) ... Aren't you the guy who claimed not to like precisions? ;-) I'm waiting on my £8.80 (delivered) Harley Benton arriving. Would be interesting to compare them ;-)
Got my shipped email at 9pm on Tuesday, wonder if it's travelling with uncle psychosis's bass?
My shipped email was first thing yesterday. Guessing it'll be delivered on Monday. -
Oh yeah, any mention of that kind of stuff is instant invalidation from me. Somewhere between Germany and the UK...
Mine has just been confirmed too. 12 euros delivered. I probably spent more than that on coffee last week! -
was getting prices for an American interested in PB-50 just now. They've just been listed. I got a voucher this morning and no self control. Keenly awaiting confirmation email
This morning I had a 30 euro voucher. Now I no longer have that voucher. -
I'm trying to get tickets to take my son to the gig in the 3arena in Dublin...
Modern parenting, eh? My Dad just used to ground me when I was naughty. The threat of being taken to a Muse gig would have kept me compliant for all of my entire teenage years Seriously though, good luck getting tickets. This whole fanclub presale nonsense annoys me but I can see why they do it.

Love the look of these. Matt how does the neck compare to something like an M-2000? ;-) I have absolutely no need for another bass, mind you...

Superlux or the Sennheiser HD202. I recently bought some Superlux HD-681 Evo and they're excellent. I've also owned a pair of HD202 for at least a decade and they're still going strong. Don't think you can go wrong with either.
It does kind of beg the question as to why the USB port was included if you can't edit patches on the computer or use it for recording onto a PC.
If you could do those things with the little one I think they'd seriously hit sales of the B3.

Looks great. Really nice. I'd love one in sonic blue or shell pink.

I use these Hicon ones: http://www.thomann.de/gb/hicon_flunderklinkenstecker_winkel.htm Hicon HI-J63MA05 Angled Jack Really good---two solder tabs (so no faffing about soldering onto the case) and a little plastic sheath to stop the signal connection grounding inside the cover.

Bass Lessons: Are they worth the money?
uncle psychosis replied to Naetharu's topic in General Discussion
I had about 6 lessons with a teacher a couple of years ago. My playing progressed more in those 6 lessons than it had in the 6 years prior to that. A good teacher is invaluable. The trick can be finding a good one. -
Is it possible to forget how to play the bass?
uncle psychosis replied to bobpalt's topic in General Discussion
Bass ... that's the one with four strings, right?
Only if you're a noob ;-) -
Well I like a pre-amp/DI pedal that gives me some eq for gigs where I`m either using a provided rig, or for emergencies if my own rig goes down. With this in mind I always try to have the DI and my amp being made by the same brand, so I should get the same sound.
My bass has a 3 band active EQ on it so I'm not that bothered about getting one with EQ. Cheers for the advice folks, reckon it's either the samson or the art.
