1.
Blyth!
You know we gig up there an awful lot, we're at the Willow Tree on July 1 if you wanna pop in and say 'hi'. And let me profile your Thunderfunk on the Kemper.
2. Want. Been waiting on these to drop for a while now.
3. So the Thomann website currently says the pickup is "Pickup system: Roswell VTN4 Vista Alnico-5 PB-style single coil", is that a rebranded Wilkinson or have they changed it?
4.
Another for Thunderfunk 550 or 750.
Just how 'north of the Tyne' are you? I'd love to have a go on a Thunderfunk.............
5.
Gallien Krueger RB 700-II. Just tips the scales for you (but only just) and just under 500w, 480w I believe, but a really great amp - I may get another....
I was going to turn up and suggest the 1001-II. Best amp I've ever owned by a country mile.
6.
What was the problem?
None, I'd just misplaced the little slide thing that clips into the actual power supply and allows it to fit a UK socket.
7.
So unless something is damaged/broken, I'm not sure what other technical issues you could be talking about?!
I don't mean to speak for Tonteee, but I assume he was concerned that 'not being able to turn a head up past noon' does in fact suggest that something somewhere is broken. Or not working properly at least. What's special about your wireless?
8. I had to purchase a new component for the power supply last week and I (once again) received superb service from Smoothhound. Please, do not hesitate to put your money and your confidence in a great product made by great people.
9. There's the GSS one to think about/compete with too.
10. I used to gig with either a compact or a midget (or both, or two midgets.....) anyway I'm sure that the super compact will be up to the job if your band is sensible pub rock or quieter.
11. Looks a little like a Modern Player but it's not quite right.
12. Trade options added to OP! P bass GK Head Vocal Mic Preamps
13. So I am looking to join a band (ideally a function band) what would be the best way if the ads are regarded as useless?
14. I've got a Korg Pitchblack (although that's for sale atm), a Behringer Boss clone, a Korg Handheld one, a clip on ebay special and the one on my Kemper here and they're all pretty much as good as the next when it comes to tuning. If it's going to be in your signal chain then maybe you'd want a nicer one but if it's on a 'tuner out' or similar then just go for the first one you see at a decent price IME.
15.
Local guitar store advised on low end loss with smaller speakers.
You'd expect a shop to understand this stuff, they should know better. Simple experiment, can you hear low frequencies with headphones? Yes? Then why should a smaller speaker produce less bass in a bass cab?
16.
I keep getting my self lost with it all, I'm told I need the 1x15 to keep the bottom end strong but don't know which way to match it all up.
Who by? Decide which of the Markbass cabs you like the best then buy two of those. Are you open to other brands? Barefaced stuff usually gets recommended whenever weight is an option. Or if you like the GK cabs you have now then why not look at something like two GK 1x12s or 2x10s?
17. The GK head is now sold and on its way to the new owner, still got some more for sale though! Go on, make me an offer and save me from ebay!
18. Limiter on, I keep the other two switches off. After that try using a fair amount of gain so it starts to get hairy then set the volume to match the situation. With a very hot output p bass I tended to have it around 12o clock gain.
19.
any ideas what plugging both outputs to one can actually does to the amp?
In theory, nothing. It's electrically the same as having a thicker cable, so if anything your amp would have a minutely easier time of it.
20. You can see the simulated response of the speaker cabinet. And using that you can fine tune the dimensions, port sizes etc to try and get the natural voice of the cab close to what you want. You can basically mess around until the graph looks like what you want: flat or not, low end roll off point, midrange peaks and troughs etc etc. Last I looked there was a flash version of the software on their site, no download needed.
21. It's worth doing. Jacks work fine, speakons are so much better, safer and more secure.
22. I think so. I found this on the net, seems easier to follow.
