Just checked the Thomann page, can't believe that those were D'Addario. They're the brand I use on my main basses, I love their strings. I suppose they could be made especially for Thomann or whatever but they felt really different to the strings I usually use and they felt 'cheap'. I wonder if that was psychosomatic and just my internal bias? FWIW I knew that the pickups were Roswell before buying, it seems there's little consensus with people preferring one pup over the other.

I've got both in my proper set, I couldn't find the right one anywhere. Will double-double try this one, good spot! Not mine. Nor did it come with the nice flats or the Wilkinson pickups! I like that bass a lot and they're still a bargain but not quite the bargain they once were.

Guys, girls, The new Jameson flats on my PB-50 are winning the battle against the neck. I went to adjust the truss rod last night but it didn't seem as though any of my allen keys fit. Certainly the one I normally use (in my Fender CS bass setup kit) didn't seem like it fit. Can anyone confirm the size for me please? Is there a knack to this? My Fender is easy enough to do and my EBMMs have the wheels, this is anew one for me... Thanks! Jack

I'm not likely to forget you twice. Well, actually... Thanks for the recommendations all, I hadn't thought about just taking the screws somewhere. Seems blinkin' obvious when I have to type it out! Jack

Hi all. I've been trying to source some replacement screws for my gator racks, but it seems they're not a standard size. The normal m6 rack screws that I have for my other case didn't fit. The size is 10/32 x 3/4" according to the internet, does anyone have a good source for these in the UK? Ideally with washers? It's £30 for a Gator branded set. Thanks Jack

VERY informative and interesting video Phil, thanks. I've been looking for some sort of project for a while now, something like this may be just the ticket.

I bought some strings from Jose and it all went brilliantly, I'd have no qualms about doing any business again!

For the price? Pretty much unbeatable. There's one in my bag in case my helix goes down. That said, I don't think a bdi would hold a candle to any of the top flight amps being discussed here as a permanent tone solution.

I'd love to try one of these. Like many of us now I'm largely ampless, but there's still the need for a mid size combo for some situations. It's this or the rumble methinks.

That's a fantastic amp, but for the love of whatever deity you believe in, tape off those XLR speaker outputs before you kill a soundman. -
Another unavoidable truth is that there are some bargains to be had. I can't stress enough how much the Alto stuff, especially the TS range, punch well above their weight. We got our two 1x15 tops and two 1x18 subs for £1000 all in second hand and they're brilliant. That's the band system, complemented by my Behringer XR18 it's the easiest PA system ever. I even enjoyed the Alto stuff so much I bought myself a pair of TX10 (the cheaper range) just for me. Whatever specific models you decide on, digital mixer and powered speakers are certainly the way to go.

As far as I know the BB2 with the crossover at its highest is pretty much the super compact. They should pair alright, is what I'm saying. Of course, a pair of BB2s would be even better. It's always best to match.

No more nails and neodymium bar magnets?

How loud? Kustom PA50?
-
No sorry I meant "as much as it'll take without clipping" .
-
Nah. For signal/noise reasons I'd hit the amp with as much juice from the behringer as it'll take. No sense making up the gain later on when you've got so much on tap to start with.
-
The GSS Baby Sumo? 600W or 1000W and around £400. I've had a few bits of Didier's stuff and it's all brilliant.
-
That control is what input voltage the amp would need to hit full volume. Well, maximum gain.... All other things equal 0.7V should be louder and probably a better match to the instrument outputs on the flyrig.

I've had great results with both the Behringer Mic100 (although it needs 12V AC) and the Lehle Sunday Driver XLR. Effects return after the modelling is what you want surely?
