I saw The Animals perform House of the Rising Sun just as their single was released to become a hit. Keen to hear the original I bought the Dylan album on a trip to New York shortly after. Only to lose the album shortly after returning. Around that time many English groups were covering obscure US artists songs. The Bobby Fuller Four version of I Fought The Law is almost identical to the original Crickets release recorded in 1959 when Sonny Curtis joined the band, shortly after the death of Buddy Holly.

Well that’s better. Just installed a pair of Nordstrand Big Singles into my SR900, still using the original preamp. Made a big difference to the sound. Much cleaner, punchy and responsive using LaBella Deep Talkin Flats. It’s now a joy to play. Very happy about that

Boom Radio just played Applejack by Jet Harris and Tony Meehan. Pretty good station for those of us of a certain age. Oh now we have Cleo Lane and Let’s Slip Away.

I would add the original pop version by Ritchie Valence. The song is real ear worm and a blast to play and sing.
