  1. I needed a set of Musicman Stingray bridge saddles and EB won’t supply such stuff to joe public. Andertons is an EB dealer so I approached them. And they ordered them for me. But EB took two and a half months to deliver them to Andertons who immediately forwarded them to me. Full marks to Andertons for keeping me in the picture all that time, and I would certainly use them again, but EB needs a bit of kick up the arse.
  2. For Americana and roots stuff I often go to Kpig.com. It’s internet only and subscription (I discovered it years ago before they introduced the Sub) but it broadcasts a great variety of old and new. Some quirky presenters too.
  3. WSM’s Americana stream is worth a listen.
  4. If you’re of a certain age, 50’s,60’s,70’s and a bit, Boom Radio is good. DAB or via Tunin. Many of the presenters are ex pirate radio ship DJ’s broadcasting from their homes. So it’s like listening to the old Radio London, but better quality audio.
  5. There are a number of pedal supply options that run off a portable usb power brick. That along with a wireless guitar link will isolate you from the mains but you can’t avoid the link from the pedals to a mains powered amp or mixing desk. Unless that is where you put the wireless link.
  6. There were a number of really good local country bands packing out the London pubs in the 70’s and early 80’s. If you were any good you could easily get 7 nights a week. Most I managed in the late 70’s was a regular 4, mainly because I had to get up for work in the morning. The mortgage was grateful for the money though. Some amazing guitarists in those bands, including Albert Lee who I saw often.
  7. Not exactly country, but that bloke in the Eagles sings nicely too.
  8. No problem, pedant away, you are right of course. And I haven’t heard that version of Have You Ever Seen The Rain, I shall look it up, thanks.
  9. I had this very conversation recently with my household insurer. The upshot was everything is covered in the house, and out, for items under £2000. Anything over that figure should be itemised. There was no extra premium involved. But as mentioned above, not covered if left unattended in a vehicle.
  10. I’ve had two of the amp heads and they were very reliable and to my ears anyway a great sound. I suggest you get yourself a spare tube (valve) to carry for the pre amp, just in case. I have no experience of the speakers. I’m loath to recommend instrument cables since there are so many to choose from. Someone will be along shortly with suggestions.
  11. Never made it there, I’ve been through Nelson a couple of times, and of course Auckland and Wellington. I’ve driven all round both Islands three times at different times of the year. Beautiful country.
  12. Sorry, but I play and sing that in a duo and lean on the Amy Winehouse version as it’s a foot tapper. The original is too slow. Proud Mary and Have You Ever Seen The Rain very much like the CCR versions.
  13. Welcome Mike, lovely country, New Zealand. I’ve visited a number of times. Relatives and friends, ex pats, living there including an ex band colleague of mine. Whereabouts are you.
  14. Ah but other version, Werewolves of London, is actually quite good.
  15. We usually only play local gigs, and put posts in as many local groups as we can using an image of the poster we give to the venue. Cost, nothing. Seems to work for us. I would never consider throwing money at Facebook.
  16. At the risk of upsetting anyone, I hate Irish folk music or whatever they call that fiddley stuff that just goes round and round the same refrain until the whisky runs out. I’m not a fan of English folk music either, and I can’t play it as I don’t posses a duffle coat or sandals.
  17. Shockingly awful example of a business website, that assumes any visitor already knows what they do. And doesn’t tell you in plain English anyway. Plus none of the links in the footer, including T&C’s,and Privacy policy, which are mandatory on a business site, go no-where. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and suggest it’s a website under development and shouldn’t really be live.
  18. Morrisey is the ‘king’ in the Kings New Clothes. The same could be said of a lot of artists of course.
  19. The other side of the coin is I’ve bought 3 very nice basses off Facebook at good prices during and just after the lockdowns, paid cash on collection. Met some nice people in the process.
  20. Be aware of import duty, and VAT is on the purchase price plus shipping plus duty.
  21. This is interesting, I might give this a try as my FastFret is almost dead. Where did you get the tins?
  22. I’m way out of the loop on 3D printing (never been in the loop really) but libraries have 3D printers now?
  23. I’ve only bought home automation stuff off there, plus some Apple Watch straps (quality as good as Apple and very cheap). Everything arrived as listed and surprisingly quickly. I don’t think I would buy a guitar off there as the returns process is probably an expensive nightmare.
