Yo Pedro - sorry you're having to sell this, I know how much love it. Hope you're ok mate
Hiya Nik, Alan and all I'm well thanks, Uni finished and looking for a real job as someone saw saw fit to give me a social work qualification I've got a job offer at ASDA, part time, 5 days a week, 4 evenings and every weekend at £6.15 an hour (desperately looking for something else before I start in a week). Got an interview for a 'Christmas seasonal job' (not Santa) today. Band teetering and needs new blood. Lady and I very happy. Busy with biking too. Pedro

Waves hello - not been around these parts much I know I'm selling my ACG Harlot. About a year ago I switched to playing 5 string and I'm not playing this absolutely stunning bass. If money weren't an issue I'd keep it but I need the cash to pay for one of Alan's Graft range (5 string Gallus) to keep me in ACG-ness while waiting for my headless Gallus to be built. A winning lottery ticket or a job offer would save me selling this bass This is a stunning example of Alan's work which really is up with the best. I've spent time with Alan while he works and his attention to detail and level of workmanship is remarkable. Here are some photos Alan took on its completion. It is in immaculate condition. I'll take some photos myself this week. It has a rich ebony fretboard with 34" scale. Front and headstock facing is Ambonyna burl. Core is Hondo mahogany and the rear is a beautifully contrasting sycamore. Spacing at the bridge is in the region of 18 to 19mm. The neck is flame maple and Macassor ebony with Macassor ebony to the rear of the headstock and on the cavity cover. The pre-amp is an ACG 01 filter based unit with the later upgraded frequency ranges and coil switching for both of the RFB humbuckers. 18v supply to the pre. Bass comes with a Hiscox hard case and Schaller straplocks. The bass is in Kendal and viewing is welcome. £950 - no trades

Status graphite series 2000 headless 1987 for sale
GreeneKing replied to wombatboter's topic in Basses For Sale
Why does this make me really angry that someone bid it up and up and up, then doesn't want it? now the percieved value has risen - again - and everyone else who has a Status under the bed will automatically think it's worth minimum £1000, unlike the handful that have sold on ebay in the last few years for between 500-800... Seems as soon as I actually had the dosh to buy an all-graphite Status, they get bumped up again, and the likelihood of getting a good deal is getting near impossible now. I bet the guy who got the worn S2 off ebay last year for £450 is laughing his head off right now.
It might make you angry (you actually make yourself angry) but why shouldn't somebody be allowed to bid on something 'in the moment'. Seems to me you're easily angered -
String spacing is from the centre of one string to the centre of the next at the bridge.... 16.5 seems a lil narrow.... Status normally 18.mm or 18.5mm on 5 stringers
Mines 15mm, and I wouldn't swap it for larger. That's one sweet bass though and only just down the road. Just as well I've no spare money.

Status players, which model(s) do you have?
GreeneKing replied to OutToPlayJazz's topic in Bass Guitars
You've seen my Empathy 5 Rich, 15mm spacing and I know only own 2 basses (down from over 20). Do I need to say any more? Peter -
Sometimes, it's not right but I do. He comes across as smug and arrogant, I don't know if that is correct but unfortunately that's how I feel.
Sorry if I come across as smug or arrogant for my comment One person's arrogance is anothers supreme confidence. I believe that we are born perfect and get contaminated by all and sundry, mainly our parents and that get's reinforced by life experienced through our filters and prejudices (there's plenty of evidence to suggest that Jaco had a childhood that contributed to his unusual behaviour). What people do is behave badly. I would argue that this doesn't make you a bad person. I do believe that just about everyone keeps some of that core of inner perfection intact and that it is reachable and remains significant in our lives. What I'm saying is that I find it really hard to 'hate' or intensely dislike anyone especially when I've not met them. The reality is I've met and in some cases worked with people who have earned reputations or done things that would label them abhorrent. I've never met anyone that was thoroughly dislikeable and I'm pretty sure that if I'd have met Jaco and got in touch with his true self I'd have been entirely entertained and touched. I'm not a naive academic or someone whose led a sheltered existence, this is just my experience of life. So when you say something like that my instinct is to respond Pedro
I try to listen to Jaco but I have such an instant dislike for the man I find it hard to.
Do you normally have a dislike for people you don't even know?

FINISHED - ACG Ebony/Wenge/Flame Sycamore build
GreeneKing replied to deksawyer's topic in Build Diaries
That's a very classy looking bass and I know from 1st hand experience that the product will even exceed it's looks in terms of build quality, tone and playability. I don't think the rear looks better, just different. Welcome to the wonderful world of ACG but just don't tell everyone Peter -
Lets be honest he has all but vanished from the music scene in the last 25 years.
He's been very busy in an alternative genre I think. I seriously wish him well though and hope he gets all the support he needs.

Mick Karn plays like a god in my book. I really want to see him overcome his illness but would have thought that financially he'd have been better off than most?? Maybe he's worth more that a normal bass player?
Probably right P, but I just didnt. what can I say? Im only human and certainly no saint!! does no one here ever just get CROSS!! eh? or if they do just cant admit to it? sometimes when youre alone at night with your own thoughts dont you ever just think.....
I'd question the motives of your "friend" who told you all this.
Yes, getting what he said 2nd hand doesn't warrant how you treated this guy imo. You should have checked it out with him directly and then reacted. Pedro

A bit of a strange one this. It relates to the fact that the best bass I own, a special bass made by my good friend Alan Cringeon, doesn't get played. This is purely because I'm playing 5 stringed basses and don't have the ability to swap back and forth. My Harlot is, imo the best looking ACG made and it plays like all ACGs, superbly. On the remote chance anyone has an ACG 5er in woods that I might find desirable and would prefer a 4 let me know. The bass isn't for sale. Basically I'd really like to be playing an ACG before my current build is complete. Peter

Anyone tried flats on a Rickenbacker?
GreeneKing replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
I had TI's on my C64S and they suited it extremely well. In fact I've not heard flats sound as good on any other bass. Pedro
