1. +1 to everything including the pickguard
2. Well, so long as you're happy does it matter what anyone else thinks?
3.
You're imagining things, Joe.
I'd say Michael, that the tone of your input as well as the manner of it, has changed not a lot since you stood down from the Mod Team. That may just be your way of course. Peter
4. A whole lot of interesting stuff has bubbled to the surface throughout this thread and it's all been pretty level headed methinks which is good. When is it 'airing your dirty laundry' and when is it making a valid personal point about a manufacturers shortcomings? Maybe it's more likely the former when the manufacturer in question is an active member? If Rob were making the same complaint about 'Schroeder' say I doubt anyone would make any fuss. Manufacturers carry responsibility for their product due to the large wad people lay out for it. In my opinion there is a 'stance' on Basschat in relation to certain products and by that I mean both a negative and a positive culture. Some of this is I believe down to petty politics and some down to 'norms' that the forum has adopted. There are people I speak to who don't post often or about certain subjects due to the negative reaction they get. There are also other basses/amps and cabs etc that can do no wrong. I don't think that this is necessarily because this is a fair reflection on things. I was at Moffat, I was disappointed from an aural perspective despite wanting to like the Compact. I've known Dave Perry for a while (too long some would say ) and having seen the quality of everything he's crafted I'd respect his comments on build quality tremendously.
5. Generally it's taken at the bridge.
6. And I 'defiled' my AV 62 RI with an ebony one. Never use it but it's staying.
7. Bugger! Hopefully see you next week and catch up. Peter
8. Alan, any news? Peter
9.
That's not true. I wouldn't expect to get my car back with dents if I lent it to someone and the bass is exactly the same. That's why no one ever uses my bass. No matter how much of a mate, they'll never look after it like I would.
+1. General battle scars are to be expected but preventing buckle rash isn't rocket science is it? I'd be gutted too if it were my bass, it's sheer unthinking negligence in my book.
10. I've had one for a while and do like it. I wouldn't say it's any better than a Comfort Strapp myself but each to their own. Strangely I'm moving towards leather again
11. The TC RH450 has a great sound, not at all thin and not at all 'puny' despite the 450 watts (its only a number). You probably need to try it. TalkBass have a long thread with overwhelming positive comment. Peter
12. It is indeed a real beauty Joe. All the best with the sale. Peter
13. Hiya Mark If you run two cabs in 'apparent series' i.e. one cable to the amp, 2nd cable from 1st cab to 2nd it is actually a parallel connection i.e. two 8 ohm cabs give 4 ohms. The 1st lead will take all the load too so needs to be decent and OBBM cables do it with ease I'm sure. Peter
14.
I think 899 with the pedal and gig bag makes it a pretty good deal.
I agree
15. In my opinion if you buy the head w/o the pedal you're losing out on the versatility of the unit to a large extent. Not only is the tuner much less user friendly but the tonal variations and level of tubesim are either there or not there. The gigbag is good value too. The cabs? Meh.
16. I'd say it's nowt like Line 6 gear in that it does a good job of being a great conventional solid state amp with no 'digital signature' and a very healthy 450 watts indeed. It replaced my LMII with ease. I'm not a fan of Line6 'simulations' btw. The tone is fairly warm and when you take into consideration a great tuner, multi band compressor, useable tube sim, 4 band semi-parametric and with the pedal 3 easily accessible pre-sets I think it's actually great vfm too. Peter
17. I want a BMW R1300GS for a fiver but I don't think I'll be lucky
18. Unjustified? Mind me asking why?
19. I can only see one bass in that 1st picture Rich, it's a Status it's got 5 strings and a phenolic board. Everything else is outshone
20. I must admit to thinking that Yamaha had a completely flawed marketing strategy with the 'Super BB' range at the show. Don't get me wrong I love Yamaha gear but a bolt on passive BB for over £2k just because it's made in Japan?? The standard BB range just aren't different enough and I don't think the name 'Yamaha' on the headstock has ever been that popular however well made these basses are. Expect to see huge discounts as per usual.
21. Bass Direct have an offer at the mo: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...lists/Home.html 2nd hand price is commensurate with new minus a bit Quite high demand I'd guess so not hugely cheap.
22. That P is lovely you know Alan. It kinda reminds me of my RI 62. Here's hoping you find what you are looking for. Enjoyed last night! Oh worth a try too. http://www.statii.com/ Peter
23. I know where you could get a real 'personal' signature bass for a lot less than that Peter. And it's have an asymmetrically profiled neck without the fancy terminology
24. Yes, once due to the string vibrating against the edge of the bridge. The larger string makes this more likely. Worth a careful look see?
25.
Are you joking! too low if anything Indeed But that said, how is this still here....
+1 I'm surprised too. Very nice, black and Torty
