1. This is a real bargain. Alan makes custom basses. If you want a light weight bass he'll build one for you Peter
2. As Alan said above, Moffat is in my opinion a grand town for a day out. I'm bringing my better half. There's good cafés and the venue is comfortable with places to sit, listen, chat and recover from the night before. I can't recommend it too much.
3. It certainly did. I'll let them update when they are less busy Myself too.
4. I've always hankered after a T-40 (bass not tank) and I got one on eBay a while back. It was in a sorry state (but cheap) and I moved it on as I couldn't get on with all the cosmetic damage. This one looks lovely and they are by all accounts great basses. I have too many already and can't afford or justify another (unlucky 13?). Bump for a great looking example of the breed. Peter
5.
If this bass has got the East J Retro then that immediately improves the overall sound about three hundred percent compared to the standard Fender preamp, which is indeed rubbish, for want of a better term, by comparison to this version . Those Wizard pickups are very beefy-sounding too, and highly sought-after nowadays. GLWTS.
I can only confirm this 100% as this is my 3rd. One standard, okay -ish, one with Sadowsky pre onboard, great and now one with John East, utterly brilliant! Peter
6. I'd use the screws that came with the Badass. If you need to fit the original bridge you can always use some wood strips and pva glue in the enlarged holes so that the old screws get proper bite into the body. It won't be in view anyway. By wood strips I of course mean matchsticks but wood strips sounds a bit better
7. I can't recommend this cab enough. Mine is going nowhere. Rare too, I think Dave won't mind me saying that they are too good to be made in small volume and still turn a profit sufficient to make the exercise worthwhile. Awesome cabs, arguably as good as you'll find. Peter
8.
Fixed it for you. We Dive At Dawn ...
Hehe, I thought that one myself as I typed it in.
9.

That does look lovely. Dare I ask, an honest not biased answer please How does it balance? My EB2014 is neck heavy (but sortable with the right strap) but I keep reading that the EB's balance perfectly Peter
10.
If anything its probably going to be more to do with the temp in your room being higher nearer the ceiling than the rest of the space affecting the stability of the neck. I used to have a SUB which was slightly susceptible to heat change and weather conditions. Sold it to a guy down your neck of the woods... wonder if its the same one.
Interesting Rich. I've operated a few subs that are susceptable to depth changes. Never had a problem with a bass being hung by its neck. Mine have always been well hung.
11.
Dave Wilson is in Haltwistle, east of Carlisle. There's no-one better... trusted by Mark Knopfler and Stefan Sobel.
I've seen his Sobel work and something he did for a bassist. He'd be my man.
12. I'm liking that
13. Exciting stuff and I hope it fulfills your needs and expectations. I had T'bird gas but when one fell through I went for an EB 2014. With help from Kiogon (John) I've now rewired it with 3 pull pots for proper series/parallel and global series/parallel operation. It sounds so good that it may have cured my gas in this direction.
14. Tonally I'm not a total convert on ANY bridge/fretboard/body/neck compared to pickups and circuits. Call me cynical (who me?). I like the function of these bridges and don't remember them being ultra light. Peter
15.
Trust me mate you dodged a bullet. (unless you're only after one for the aesthetics)
? Well I'm on my 2nd and I'm happy????
16. This is a great weekend. Well worth travelling to as well.
17.
It depends on what the agreement is. If someone says they want their bass collected, but may be persuaded to let it be posted as long as the buyer deals with it... that's another matter. If you both agree, that's all there is to it. A shop, eBay, etc is different... the deal does not finish with shipping, but with the receipt of the goods and verification they're in good condition. A private transaction between two individuals can be anything they agree to.
The trouble with that is, will the agreement stand in a court of law? Under civil law people have certain obligations. You may think you have an agreement and then when something goes wrong you may find yourself without 'a leg to stand on'. In principle I see only sense in the above but I also see the potential for sellers to abdicate responsibility, or at least try to. I don't think that's good.
18.
That sounds the wrong way round to what I meant. I have this thing for sale. I really don't want to post it, so collection only please. What? You'd like to buy it but you live far away? Well, I'd really rather not post it. I don't want the responsibility; it's too much hassle, things can go wrong. What? You'd still like me to post it? Well I don't want to, but if you're willing to accept it if something goes wrong or it gets broken, then fair enough I suppose. Caveat emptor and all that. A more conscientious seller wouldn't even entertain that conversation, they'd just flat-out not post it. That was my point. Sort of.
Fair comment
19.
Great lesson Scott and learning Arpeggios was a real game changer for me. Got dragged into a Jazz/Fusion band a little while back and was really out of my comfort zone having relied on covering other peoples basslines for years. Had some lessons with Geoff Chalmers and he really pushed me into learning Arpeggios. Now part of my daily workout and it's great having a Chord Chart from the Real Book shoved in front of you and being able to do something with it. Excellent stuff.
I think I need to work with some chord charts and arpeggios Stu. I've realised this for a while now. Many thanks Scott Peter
20.
You could argue that it's actually the most conscientious sellers who refuse to risk things getting damaged in the post.
Ah, but if the risk is entirely on the seller then surely it can't be conscientious ?
21. I hasten to add, I was never considering buying it anyway. It's not advice I'm after, more discussion. I'm glad the consensus appears to be as it is.
22. Yep, Tom1946 was just a bit rude , even if he had a point.
23. These are great basses. If you haven't experienced one this is well worth the small investment.
