1. Alan's ties were clearly laid out in the thread. 'Cheeky humour as is his want'? I didn't see the humour there at all. I usually have a good sense of such subtleties too. I don't personally associate Bilbo with 'cheeky humour' and neither evidently, at the time did Alan despite what agonising might have followed. I think you are being defensive perhaps? I'm a robust bloke but I do see an easy path of firing off clever anecdotes without taking full responsibility. If we were all sat around a room with all the extra clues available to us than it would perhaps be different. Peter
2. I can understand where Alan is coming from. I've known him for years and he is a particularly nice bloke who I count as a friend. Now I don't spend an overwhelming amount of time on BC nowadays (compared to how much time I spent here years ago) but I browsed the Beatles thread while I waited for the thaw to give me access home. I read Bilbo's comment that provoked Alan's reaction and given that Alan has emotional, cultural and family ties into this whole subject I'm not surprised he reacted as he did. I think the comment was poorly considered and inane in the extreme. There's a statement in NLP that I feel applies solidly here. The Meaning Of Your Communication is The Response You Get. I believe that Bilbo should share some responsibility as we all should for comments fired off from our keyboards. Peter
3. We perhaps would all benefit from a little perspective review here? After all, the Beatles, bunch of Norvern Munkeys. It's easy to debate the ins and outs of motive and moral standing when armed with a keyboard, heaven knows I do it. Sometimes a man hug and a beer would be the ideal approach. Keep with it Alan you are valued. Peter

ACG build

Nice to see some wenge in there
5. I find that as time passes I'm more open to a wider variety of music. Yes some new bands sound like old bands but I'm looking, and finding, stuff that stands out from that. Peter
6. Thanks, I've already changed the spec to two MC5's

ACG build

You know it makes sense. Congratulations.
8. Mel sold me a guitar chord book (the draw of the dark side eh?). Great price and prompt delivery, thank you. Peter
9. Mine presently sits in a small Boshma case and it's a neat and tidy one handed carry. It has a sliding panel at the rear for easy access without having two lids that take up more room. Recommended (the amp and the case). This is not a sales pitch btw, they really are good even if I get round to letting mine go Peter
10. If you can pm me your Paypal address Mel I'll sort the money out
11. I've had a fair few like this over the years. I put it down to giving in to GAS under the influence and realising they can't really afford it in the cold light of day.
12.
I am yet to see/try an EAD cab, so yes - my comments re build quality are restricted to my knowledge and experience of BFB. I was really responding to your original post that they seem flimsy. To an extent they do, but in use they are less so than they seem. No "bun fight" intended here either. I just thought that the original comparison (S12 vs. F212) was a bit unfair as they are trying to be different things. A far more useful comparison would be (as you said) Big Twin T vs. F212. And as you rightly say, the financial side is much more balanced too. I think we are actually agreeing with one another...
Agree? Now there's an idea
13. Mel I'll take the acoustic guitar songbook if it's still available. Whereabouts are you? Peter
14. My 'hands down' comment is valid (in my opinion of course) and is attributed to what you get for your money as well as the sonic differences. Maybe my assessment was out of date re prices but I suspect your comment Conan about build was based on knowledge of the BF alone? The EAD is now £1250 plus £25 delivered whereas the nearest equivalent Big Twin T (and not the one used in the comparison) is £1050 plus, I believe £80 surcharge and £60 delivery. In the Pounds and lbs stakes that's £1275 and 57lbs against £1190 and 57lbs. Both cabs sound great and I'm not about to promote a cab bun fight. I can say what I firmly believe, that in terms of value for money the EAD is a bargain when you break down exactly what you are getting. Both are great cabs, just significantly different approaches to the box that the speakers fit into. Peter
15. Was that a single or twin channel one? I've one I'm plucking up courage to put into the 'For Sale' section. Mines a twin channel owned from new and I love it. I just love my LM Tube 500 more, at the moment
16. This weekend I took the JPS Fender along to the Moffat Bass bash. It was up for sale for £500 (it cost me £575 and I've spent over £300 on it). I heard it played alongside some very expensive instruments. For it's style it wasn't bettered by any and is indeed a bass that has benefitted from it's upgraded electronics tremendously. It's also the best Fender I've laid my hands on in terms of playability. I no longer gig with 4 strings but I realise that selling this bass at all is a flawed idea. To have sold it for £500 would have been total madness. So it's a missed opportunity folks Peter
17. Well yesterday at the Moffat Bass bash we finally had a chance to hear the EAD Foundation 212 up against a Barefaced Super 12 T. The difference sonically certainly wasn't night and day. My opinion is this, the EAD has a slightly better 'range' that you'd expect from a 3 way cab and the bottom end sounded a little fuller. You'd have to say though that the similarity was noteworthy, no pun etc. Both great sounding cabs. The BF is lighter and if this is a major issue then it'll probably be the cab for you. The EAD isn't 'heavy'. It's a whole different approach in terms of construction and the emphasis placed on getting the details 'right' in terms of Dave Perry's obsession with such things The greatest difference is in the construction and build quality. I'd be very much more worried about a BF cab suffering damage than the EAD. Given the respective prices (including the neo surcharge on the BF) AND the small but significant enhanced response the EAD is the better cab imo, hands down. Peter
18. Another great Moffat bash. A real annual highlight. Thanks go to all especially Alan, Dave, Lihnnie and Shaun and the band. Anton came all the way from the Netherlands, what a star. Tom twirling his DB - another memorable moment. Pedro
19.
Hello. I may be interested in your bass bass I suspect the neck is rather slim isn't it?
Yes, very slim particularly at the nut. A couple of people had a play on this at the Moffat Bass Bash and it sounded and played so nice I'm sorely tempted to keep it. Peter
20. Shame that I don't have £750 spare or that you're not interested in a Fender Jazz Power Special. Have a bump anyway from another South Cumbrian, very nice fretless.
21. Cheers it is indeed a stunningly good example but I can't seem to give it away
22.
BC has what, 20,000 members? Out of those, you cant expect everyone to play the game. Given that, I think BC has a pretty good community feel all things considered.
Nicely put.
23. Hiya, interested in trade for my Fender Jazz Power Special? Also are you at Moffat tomorrow? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197966-fretless-bass-wanted-fender-to-trade/page__hl__jazz+power__fromsearch__1 Peter (who is )
24. Still looking for a fretless
