Merton is your man and I'm sure he'll be along. Mine has been brilliant albeit as a backup £185 head.
2. Hiya Mario Maybe the quest to make your Jazz sound like a Ric isn't the way to go? Given that they are very different basses each with their own strengths would it make sense to just improve the tone of the Jazz to something you like more and have that variety? The J-Retro is great or for a very different yet tonally comprehensive approach you could try the ACG02 that slots straight in.
3. As Alex said, active EMGs are just different. I'd say try some Villex pups for the nearest passive equivolent. Otherwise outboard and things like Aguilar Tone Hammer, MXR M-80 D.I.+ or Bassbones may help. My P sounds great passive and I'm loath to put flats on it as I originally intended as I don't want to change the existing tone. My MXR M-80 gives me a chance to apply some active EQ and that is mostly mids to be honest, that and the passive tone on the bass gives me all I need.
4. Excellent stuff, an update on all the builds would be interesting, blow by blow. Any photos?
5. If you get a slightly oversize allen key and file a gentle taper on it until it taps in it should remake it's own hexagonal socket. I've done this a couple of times with various square and hex sockets.

7.
Blimey, that's a nice collection. I'm off to see if I've got 3 and a half grand shoved down the back of the sofa.
If you find it I think it's actually mine Russ, I seem to remember losing it somewhere
8. That WAS quick!
9. I actually expected something more extreme like loadsa colour and some pink fur Nice one.
10.
My bass sits on my right hip and doesn't contact with said belt.
+1
11. And I hope you used a genuine 'Duck Dunn' pipe cleaner or those low mids will be suffering Glad its sorted
12. Have a great time Mikey, looking forward to seeing the end results! Peter
13. So that's active pups and passive electrics then Mark?
14. That does look rather the business, and Mikey's bass too!
15. I would say that the Pyramids have less zing but wouldn't say they were too thumpy, more mellow and old school. They have a great flexi-feel to and seem consistent for a long time. I love them and have tried nearly all.
16. Final touch, the bass has holes in the plate and , as I later discovered screw holes for a rest. I'm surprised one wasn't fitted or supplied but it would have been black plastic anyway. I've fitted an ebony rest in place, purely decorative don't you know With the bits the bass still comes in at only 9lbs.
17.
And how do you get your grass to be so green? Or is it my monitor?
We have something abundant up North called rain
18. Sad to hear this has to go Tom. This is a beauty and Tom is a star. I'd bump the thread but it's at the top already
19. That's stunning it really is. Did DW do the finishing? Peter
20. I've worked with kids for several years and find them great once you make the connection and get under the veneer to the person beneath. Once the point is explained to them in a way that isn't 'adult looking down on child' then I believe most will respond well.
21. There's some seriously sweet basses at great prices around at the moment! Bump
22.
Mine was a Comfort Strapp with two Ps Ppeter
Kk and worth knowing thnx, I tie wrap mine anyway to prevent any such probs.
23. I've had a 'Comfort Strap' fail in this way but 'Comfort Strapps' (there is a difference) seem much better constructed. I just wonder if yours was the former, similar copy type or the original? Peter
24. There is to me no viable alternaltive: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...rt_Strapps.html
25.
Thanks Pedro - Russ and me'll be up soon. He's delighted with his Kinal - can't wait to try that and you're new acquisition.
You mean acquisition(s)
