It's really gonna be down to personal preference, but I say give Pyramid Golds a try!
+1
Very nice! Ive always found the cover gets in the way and I cant mute with my thumb - what am I doing wrong? Is your thumb in front or behind the cover? Maybe its because I like to play with fingers over the neck pickup, rather than between pickup and neck?
Hiya Mikey I either anchor my thumb on the back of the cover/float it behind for a brighter tone or move my thumb to the top of the pickguard/float it in front of the cover for a more bluesey tone. It gives me two distinct positions that I like rather than having to think about a broader range of tonal possibilities The pickguard is drilled for a finger rest in accordance with 62 spec and I'm going to fit an ebony one if only to cover up the holes.

Does the LH1000 still have jack outputs only, like the LH500? -
Just to clarify for the Hard Of Funny: P + Rick = Prick, a name, not a value judgement on either the instrument or its creator. J.
Aha, light comes on

From your vernacular I'd guess you are a lawyer Sir?

Here's the beast. I prefer the pickup covers on and find the thumb position more comfortable than on the pickup, even with a floating thumb.

I once bought a pair of Oakleys for £65. The shop assistant realised they were incorrectly priced (they were actually just about the most expensive Oakleys) and phoned her boss who said 'sell them for the price on the label'. People should really know the law if they're going to own a shop methinks. I've also been refused a CD box set marked at a very low price. Photos of the P are ready but Photobucket is down at the moment.

Interesting, unconventional yes but different certainly

The story has drawn to a logical, some would say inevitable conclusion I popped in this morning with my Overwater Progress III deluxe to see what they could ofer in p/x with a minimum figure in my head. They bettered it by £50 so inevitable consequences followed The Overwater is in many ways a far superior instrument but my ACG covers all it's bases and then some. The Fender (I can't quite believe I'm becoming a Fender owner) is a superb and very lightweight example that has a tone only a good P can produce so it earns a place in my diminished collection. So a Jazz and a Precision, albeit only one a Fender are now in my mitts and for all my lack of Fender love I'm quite happy to admit that they do their job bloody well and in a tonal way that nothing else quite does. Of course my Harlot is far more versatile. I believe it comes with a pair of ashtrays too that may need to be drilled in, do I or don't I? It's a 60's re-issue American Vintage btw. The inevitable photos will of course follow. Peter
Hmm, nice of the op to come onto BC (was last seen yesterday 11am according to his profile) and not even say "Thank you" for people doing his survey for him, let alone thanking them for constructive feedback. Charming.
Whoaa - making a whole load of assumptions there that are your stuff not his. Maybe he's thinking about a reply, maybe he didn't have time to reply, maybe he's waiting for more responses, maybe he isn't an ignorant bloke at all...... This to me typifies a lot of what goes on on BC. Another member dissed! It's bollocks (imo). It's one thing to think negative thoughts on other people to yourself based on very little evidence and quite another to publicly slate someone else with the same level of assumptiom. Peter

I suspect you're right, that's a lot of money to con someone out of although I wouldn't have realised it at the time.

Welcome in Ivan, sounds like Bill Fitzmaurice's site may be the place for you. http://billfitzmaurice.com/ Good to see folk older than me

A seller is also entitled to refuse to serve anyone without giving a reason. It's a fairly well known ploy to swap tags on items. I didn't do it btw

They offered a 20% discount but still too rich for me. It was well put together. I now have bloody P GAS

I pass Promenade Music in Morecambe to and from work and occasionally pop in to see what gives. The bass guy was off today and the guitar guy was helping out in covering the bass dept. I tried a MIM P bass this afternoon, through a Markbass Jeff Berlin combo. It wasn't set up that well and was pretty meh... Noticing that there was a white US P in the shop I helped myself as the guy had gone upstairs. It was marked as a Jaguar (!) and was reduced to £699. It was also a stupidly light body, so much so that it had a slight neck dive Wow, what can I say. It sounded and played truly superbly. The tone through all it's range was to die for, subtle and rich not just the P thump that I expected. I kept on playing it just for the sheer pleasure of listening to it. Having just sold my Ric I thought kinda hmm... a Fender and me? £699s a lot of dosh but it is quite stunning etc. I asked if there was any chance of a slight price drop (guessing £699 for a US P is pretty low anyway) and was told no but that I'd get a hardcase etc. Then I did a stupid thing, I asked about the label saying 'Jaguar' - doh. Seems wrong label was put on the bass and this particular white P is actually £1799 I'm not sure what model of US P bass goes for this sort of dosh but I've obviously got an expensive taste. It was superb. I'm left wondering if I could have got away with paying £699 for it if I'd have kept my trap shut

Chris A possibility would be Pyramid Gold. They so a shorter scale set and they feel like a lower tension to me. Not cheap but oh soooo nice. Peter

Your car spark plugs operate at about 20,000 volts and they won't (normally) kill you
..i didn`t change my price because some users "pop" at me.. please read again carefully..i never said i wanted 900 gbp..if so..pls show me where. the only moment i was talking about "my" price i said..i will not go below 880 euro which will mean 760 gbp.. but you are right..all of you..and i will close the door..i know how to behave;) bye bye
I think that this thread serves to educate that language can indeed be a barrier There's been fairly patronising replies to nuances in this guys posts that may well not be intentioned. Surely if someone's first language isn't English and his grammar and spelling are poor we should allow a little leeway before reacting to such perceived nuances? And then he misinterprets my post! Ce la vie
I don't understand why we can't ridicule folk on silly prices Pluck
Err... maybe because it says so in the rules and guidlines that you accepted when you joined? I can see this guy has a point. Firstly his English isn't brilliant (95% better than my German) and if he doesn't quote a price and tells you by pm it is perhaps a bit disrespectful to immediately advertise it to all? I accept that an apology has been made. The guy was actually being a little contrite (and lowering his price) when some folk had a 'pop' at him. This sort of occurrence isn't unusual on Basschat when it comes to international sellers and in fact new sellers in general. Maybe, just maybe it's all down to them - 'bloody foreigners'? Or maybe the truth lies much, much closer to home
