    Bass soul food

I have 2 on my board. If I'm using my Mesa rig with it's own drive they give varying amounts of scream. If I'm using my markbass the first one is my 'always on' drive and the second one kicks in if I want something more like Chris Wolstenholm. It's taken years of trying all sorts to find what works best for me.
  4. Saw him at the jazz cafe camden years ago. he barged past us on his way into the venue, didn't play school days then did a runner without doing an encore. We gave chase and caught up with him outside but he refused to give my mate an autograph and stormed off. That said, we did enjoy his gig. My main gripe with big name bassists is that they never come to Scotland on their 'UK' tours.
  5. When I first joined the band you followed me into I had a trace 1210 hsmx 410 combo. That wasn't loud enough to keep up with the other three in the band.
  6. I found this website to be very useful when trying to figure out the best impedance for speakers.. http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm
  7. Just bought a book from Iain. Arrived next day delivery in perfect condition.
  8. Good choice. I'm on my second. Sold the first then went through Mpulse 600, CarbineM9 and BB750 before I realised how stupid I'd been to sell the Titan. Even the guitarists in my band love the tone and heft
  9. if you're talking about Mrs Fleabag, she's not. 😃
  10. here you go... http://mesaboogie.com/cabinets--simulators/bass-cabinets/powerhouse-series/index.html standard powerhouse 210 is 69 pounds or 31 KG (i have one and it feels heavier)
  11. I've been a fan for years from first seeing her play in Northumberland before I left home around 1995 but I've been a small pipes fan since I was at school - my art teacher's son, David Burleigh was one of our local makers and he came to school a few times to give demonstrations.
  12. That's not a rig, This is a rig..... (I know it's photoshopped but Hell.....)
  13. Selling my Markbass 104HR speaker cabinet. 4Ohm. 800 watt handling. One of the best cabinets I've had, suitable for every genre. Handles a low B string really well. Rear ported so it's slightly smaller than the 104HF. I've had both and found this one to be a sweeter sounding cabinet. For some reason the 104HF seemed a bit harsh. It's also substantially lighter than the 104HF and (unlike the 104HF) can just about be carried in one hand. It's mainly been my rehearsal cabinet but when I've used it at gigs with a Markbass LM800 it's easily overpowered two rock guitarists and a drummer. Being 4 ohms means you can get the best out of your amp head without having to carry two cabs. Near perfect condition. It comes with a genuine Markbass padded cover and the carpet covering has never been near a cat so it's still as smooth as the day I bought it. Only selling as I now have a 121h traveller for rehearsals and my double bass gigs so the 104 is surplus to requirements. Price is £300 or sensible offers collected from Wilsontown.,, Lanarkshire or I can meet up to 50 miles radius . Happy to courier for an extra £35 Insured .
  14. For what it's worth, I looked at Gedo then bought a nice Strunal from Thomann
  15. The Markbass AC lite is s great amp but constrained by not allowing you to add a cabinet. If you can stretch to £680, i would go for the 121h combo as you can add another 8ohm cab at some time and have a rig that'll cover just about any gig situation. . The 121 cabinet itself packs one hell of a punch easily as loud as their 410 and the little mark amps are incredibly versatile - I have the LM 800 and traveller 121H and use it for rock band stuff aswell as double bass backup. perfect for most needs. It was at one time the go to amp for jazzers like hadrien feraud. oh - forgot to mention - it's very light - one handed carry.
  16. Not cowbell but Northumbrian pipes. Kathryn Tickell's contribution to sting's 'Fields of gold' raise the song beyond ordinary. Eva Cassidy's version is just 'MEH' in comparison.
  17. We have one. we use it when we need just a teensy tiny amount of pepper.

The rate things have been moving on basschat, it'll probably still be here when you do have some cash 😃

    SOLD.

NOW SOLD. Bought this in July from Delberthot - he bought it new in June - so it's in perfect condition. Comes in the tin box complete with user guide. Selling as I now have a Fishman Platinum pro on it''s way - more suited to double bass. price is £160 collected from Wilsontown, Lanarkshire or an addition £6 for postage.
  21. Was about to say the same. JM spends much of his DT time either doubling petrucci's lines or using so much distortion it's really hard to pick him out. He's much more prominent in 'The Jelly jam' .
  22. Are you willing to courier one of these to Scotland?
  23. Under peruvian skies from falling into infinity. Quite laid back ( for DT). Agree with Chris. Sherinian's the better keyboard player. As an aside i've seen portnoy and sherinian a couple of times now with sons of apollo and it's really obvious how well they play together and how much fun they're having. Long may it continue.
