1. At one time I'd have gone straight for Yes and Chris Squire and admit to listening to precious little else. Nowadays I listen to too many different genres to have a favourite 'per se' but the band I listen to most when I want to relax is James taylor's. Bass player either leland sklar or jimmy johnson. Miles comes a close second, my favourite era being the Ron carter years.

Big Tuna

Bump. Walkabout tomorrow night. Kicks off around 9.30.
3.
Hmm Haywards Heath To Manchester..err no.
Why not? I've done Edinburgh to Manchester the last 2 years and it's been well worth it.
4. I was using DR Marcus Miller fat beams for a while. Sounded superb for slap but I don't slap that often so I'm on their coloured range now.
5. Mine Korg DTR2000 tuner Eden Navigator pre-amp Vent QSC PLX2402 In the rear i've mounted an ART Isolation Transformer outboard of the DI to avoid any phantom power spikes coming from the desk.
6. i had a similar issue putting my Eden Navigator through a QSC power amp - gave waaaay less power than an SVP I tried out. The problem turned out to be fried transistors in the output stage of the pre-amp having been caused by a phantom power surge when using the DI from a powered desk. Any way this could have happened to your BSP?
7.
Paul McCartnet (The Beatles)
I'd hardly say he's underrated. many of todays greats cite Maca as being a huge influence. he's also a very good player.

11.
Also the guy who did bass on alot of mamas and papas tracks, in particular "dream a little dream..." for the same reasons. It isn't exceptionally technical or flashy but it really adds to the song. My two cents. Ash
Joe Osborn played bass on pretty much all the Mamas and Papas albums.
12. Don't know if either of these have been mentioned.. Randy Meisner and Timothy B Schmit, both of the Eagles. Very tasteful playing while still singing harmonies and lead vocals. In particular, listen to TBS' fretless meanderings on New York Minute from the Hell freezes over vid. superb playing. Also, I was watching Sympathy for the devil last night. hadn't realised Keef played the bass on that track letting Bill W do percussiony things. His playing isn't too shabby and I'm wondering what else he took over the bass part for.
13. So what was about the bass you didn't like?
14. If you look around you can still get a pretty good deal on new Alembics. I've just paid beaver felton at bass Central less than half the New price for a balance K signature deluxe in coco bolo. Alembic still building it though so I'll be waiting a bit longer. They're a very nice company to deal with too. More like family. One of these days I'll have saved enough to take my brood out to visit. Just have to stop buying basses ;-)
15. i use my Alembics exclusively so I put other although I could equally have chosen custom as the rogue was a custom order.
