1. Probably my fretless rogue as that's the one I had custom built with lots of communication going on with the good folks at Alembic. Mind you the MK was a way more expensive. Choices! maybe i'd just put the fire out
2. The gallery is a good idea. They even have A few Alembics around your price range. A good condition Epic or Orion would be a nice buy.
3. guitar guitar have just started selling EBS. The nearest to manchester is Newcastle although Glasgow is probably quicker to get to.
4.
and lemmy has always looked about 108.
yeah but he's never looked ok

6. They have them in stock in scayles music, edinburgh
7. Steve Swallow - 67 Chuck Rainey - can't find out Carol Kaye - 72 (and has been slipping into her dotage for many years judging by some of her comments) Tony Levin - 61 Marcus Miller - 48 ( akid compared to the rest) Stanley Clarke - 56 Bootsy Collins - 56
8.
...- and I'll leave the cab behind if I can borrow one.
You won't be popular if you do that. see http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9654
9.
This is a pretty good article on slipping pegs: http://theorbo.com/Theorbo/Pegs.htm I put one turn winding the "wrong" way, then double back on the winding so that the final string tension tends to pull the peg IN to the hole, as suggested in this article.
The post is talking about tuning pegs of the violin / cello variety. The OP is on about the tailpiece pegs on acoustic (guitar shaped) basses that hold the ball end in place.
10. If I'm understanding the problem correctly, you could try reaching through the soundhole to bend the ball end a bit then pull the string tight while pushing the peg in at the same time. Then fasten the strings at the peghead end and tune up. Keep a thumb pressing the peg in while you tune. I find this works when I change the strings on my kelly dragonfly, even with the B string.
11.
go here and you should find all you need to know about the age. There was a dating resource I found that allows you to type in the serial number, but i think the database it looks at is just the same as the fender site. In theory the pickguards should be the same across the range, but there's only one way to find out.
Interesting link. Last time I looked my US precision up on Fenders site it claimed '79 as the build year. - the serial is S8 then 5 digits. Now the site says either '77 or '78.
12. 2 basses in VERY hard cases. 1 fretted 1 fretless (both fivers) tuner, pre and power amps in a 6 slot rack. 410 cab 212 cab pedal board in carry case with all leads I need for the show. another bag for stands, spare leads, spare strings, spare valve, toolkit, gaff tape, towel etc. To the original poster, i think it's vital to carry enough to cover every eventuallity. We don't play multi-band gigs that often so borrowing kit isn't usually an optio.
13. It's his bass, Why should you care what he does to it? p.s. there's no such thing as a good stingray anyway so what does it matter?
14. Seeing yes in '74 was what made me want to be a bass player more than anything else (yes, even being a clarinetist) and I think the first real bassline I ever learnt was the 'solo' section in yours is no Disgrace.
15. Wish i had the money :-(
16. Anyone mention Roger Waters yet? There's alot of tasteful playing in Pink Floyd's music.

18. Looks better than most other stingrays.
19. Hmmm. They're advertised as one of a kind then further down they say "These two pieces are identical to the ones used by top bass players like U2's Adam Clayton and System Of A Down's Shavo Odadjian!!"

21.
In the post Skelf made - can you see it?
Nope. But work bars youtube anyway.
22.
I have embedded the video for you all.
Where?
23. I bought the behringer and found it so bad with both B and E strings I sent it back and shelled out the extra for a korg dtr2000. The only thing 'better' about the behringer was it having 3 lights instead of the korgs 1. As it happens, I have an Eden navigator that lights up like christmas so I never use the tuner racklight anyway.
24. According to the online manual, the outputs are wired in parallel. This means that you could theoretically use 3 cabinets as long as one of them has a speakon cable AND the total load isn't less than 2 OHMs. However, they also go on to say this... "We have designed our amplifiers to operate safely at 2 Ohms only because everyone else is doing it and some users expect it. However, we much prefer operating at 8 or 4 Ohms because of the markedly improved quality of tone and dynamic response. But if you really want to, you can operate your Time Traveler at 2 Ohms without worry." If you're only using one cabinet and its 2ohms then use the speakon as they were designed to make the voltages involved safer. (less risk of electrical shock).
