6.
Nah, Pete Way`s your man for chemicals. Jez
Given your profile pic, I'd have thought you'd have gone for Phil Lesh. p.s. There is no 'best bassist' but if there was he/she would have to be a good allrounder which Flea never seems to be.

 13.
I had a crack at chelsea the other night as part of my plan of stop playing as much disco all the time.I think this bass line is superb, and it is very unusual compared to the way i usually play.I never hear much about bruce thomas but i think i might buy his book on being in the atractions. I dont think he and Elvis costello got on though.
Have a look at Pump it up. Great bassline that drives the song the whole way through
 14. In which case I apologise unreservedly. veering wildly, I was wondering if any of you north eastern players had come across Rob Turnbull from ashington? He's just started posting on the Alembic forum and has a very nice bass so he'd be a good one to get along next time you have a north east bass bash. (Having upset everyone now I don't expect to get an invite).
 15. and I can't get the smily faces to work.
 16.
You referred to someone who posted a light-hearted comment as 'a tosser'. That's how wars start. Lighten up, man.
Actually (and I really don't want to sond pedantic but I'm going to) I referred to the reply itself as 'tosser' having missed off the 's.
 17.
Actually Jacko, I never criticised his playing. In my opinion the bass changeovers took a little too long and made neglible difference to my ears. I would be the first to put him up there with the bass greats. I've nothing against people taking loads of basses to gigs. Personally I'm happy with the one bass I use. So there.
Around the changes taking too long thing, again in Glasgow, he did all his changes while Bonnie was talking about her life / introducing the next song so unless you were a bass player, watching her bass player, I doubt you'd have noticed that he'd changed basses. We were in the front row of the balcony so I could see exactly what he was doing - maybe because of that I was expecting to hear a different sound and as a result did.
 18.
That's a bit harsh, Jacko.
I was referring to the starsky and hutch reply by 'the funk' that added nothing at all to the discussion. have you ever sat in a meeting / conversation where there's intelligent discourse about whatever and the office clown keeps throwing in stupid comments that have nothing to do with the subject and everything to do with their own self promotion? That's how the Funk's post came across to me. All the previous relies to the OP had something pertinent to say about Mr hutchinson whether it be good or bad - and there's nothing wrong with disagreeing about something or stating that you can't see the point in changing basses however many times durng the set. The last time I saw bonnie in Glasgow 2 or 3 years ago, hutch hanged basses fairly frequently but each had a distinctive sound. Mind you, that was in the armadillo that has excellent acoustics. However, It's quite likely that the average bonnie raitt fan wouldn't have noticed any difference at all. - My experience - others will be different and to repeat the above, I made no criticism of genuine posters or their content. Sorry if anyone has been upset by this.
 19. ignoring the tosser replies, Hutch is a brilliant player. As a long time Bonnie raitt fan I've got to hear how huthch's playing has developed over the years. Live, he has a perfect tone and despite what was said above, every bass change resulted in a different tone that ws just right for the song. His fretless playing is sublime.
 20. Glad it arrived ok. Have fun.
