1. Quick bump for this friday
2. How about a bit of Elvis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpprOGsLWUo&feature=fvsr or better still some weather report. jaco's pinched harmonic intro is superb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqashW66D7o Last one for now. You can't beat john deacon for a rock solid bassline http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY0WxgSXdEE
3. I've decided it's time to sell my ampeg svp pro as I'm no longer using it. It's one of the earlier Blackface models and was retubed late last year with a set of balanced and premium tested JJ valves (from HotROX). Once it's powered up it's very quiet with little noticable hiss or hum. It has a couple of rack scratches on the top and a few heavier marks on the underside which I'll attempt to show in the photos... There's little more to say about this preamp that hasn't already been said elsewhere. Suffice to say that it's probably the best Rock preamp you can buy (and it'll cover every other genre happily too). Price is £350 and I'll throw in a power lead and marshall 2 channel footswitch and stereo cable too. This is very useful for muting and switching on the graphic eq remotely. The footswitch has velcro on the underside having been on my pedalboard. I'd prefer collection from near Livingston but could post at a cost of either £10 for a standard parcel with minimal replacement cover or £22 for next day special delivery fully insured. 4. Just bought an EBS BASSIQ from Chris. Good communication - arrived in great working condition.
5. Bumping in case anyone missed it :-)
6. DR red devils on my electric fretless for stage use. La Bella deep talking flats on my acoustic fretless for sitting in the garden playing the blues.
7.
I don't mind that he's not authentic, and he's not rubbish. It just puzzles me why he's so average, yet so revered....
I'm pretty much of the same opinion about Oasis. QUite like steve though. 2nd best of last night's bunch after Charlie haden.
8.
We occasionally have something on Tyneside. Maybe it's time...
Let me know. Came down for one a couple of years ago and had a pretty cool afternoon.
9. first proper Bas amp (after a 30watt WEM combo) was a King head that I think was 100watts plus a 2x15 cab that I bought from my Law lecturer at Sentech (south east nurthumberland technical college - now north tyneside college of FE i think). Currently I split my signal into an Ampeg SVP-PRO preamp and a FenderTBP-1 preamp. This then feeds either side of a QSC PLX2402 power amp and usually a pair of EBS NEO212 cabs although sometimes I replace one with an EBS NEO410.
10. Two More Finnegan's Wake gigs coming up.. Next Friday May 20th Friday 10th June. Band kicks off around 9.30. Last time we played the venue had a folky rock band on early evening. Gave us alot less time to set up but they were good.
11. Hi Rob from another 'almost' edinburgh based member. My band 'Big Tuna' will be at finnegan's wake next friday 20th May. If you're round and about come and say hello.
12. Already spent several hours on a few occasions in the company of Jimmy Johnson and I'd happily do it again as he's such a great guy to hang out with.
13.
I'm going to see them at the Glasgow SECC - 2 weeks on Saturday - oh yes!!!!!!
The dozy buggers have timed their secc date to clash with a Big Tuna gig. I know which one I'll be at
14.
Just checked out your website, some good tunes there. Might catch you some day, but alas this friday my band is at Callander.
The Waverley? We've played there a few times. Nice venue if a bit small. Have a great gig.

16. Big Tuna play Finnegan's Wake in Edinburgh this Friday, June 10th from 9pm till 1am. Be there or be somewhere else. Following that, we'll be at the Waverley in Callendar on Saturday 18th June. Not too late to get into edinburgh for a rocking night
17.
. The only 4 string players I really like are Michael Manring, Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller .
Marcus plays a five string fretless as does victor wooten. Chris Squire used a 5 string Tobias and so on. It seems to me that all the 'real' players use the tool that's best suited to the job and all those that reckon a bass should only have x number of strings are only really limiting themselves.
18. 1 McCartney 2.Squire 3.Jimmy Johnson. 4. Stanley Clarke 5. roger glover. Shame it's only 5.
19.
Hi, sorry for delayed response. 2x10 still available. Not 100% on Courier costs to Edinburgh but probably somewhere around the £25 mark. let me know if you're interested. Cheers
Hi Matt. still interested. PM'd you.
