If anyone sees a white TKS112 for sale... it's pinched.
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in General Discussion
UPDATE The BC community moves in mysterious ways! I now have a name and FB profile for this guy - I'm going to give him time (and the benefit of the doubt) to square up with me. If he has indeed been scammed then that is his problem, not mine (I'm assuming he has informed the Police and has a crime number?). Refunding me is the legal and moral thing, let's see how quick it happens.- 57 replies

Let's be honest... you'd not hand over something to someone turning up on your door with no proof of ID etc especially when the buyer lives 3 hours away and they've paid you up front for the courier. -

The odd thing is that I've just looked at his feedback and it turns out he sold this very same cab back in April and received feedback for the sale! No idea what that is about! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154398118747 -

I wondered if anyone would message me or comment re. knowing the seller as he seems to sell a fair bit of gear on eBay and there must be some BCers who are near to Clitheroe! The inconvenience of having £230 locked up in a dispute for 2 weeks (to date) and possibly longer, is just that - inconvenient 'to me'. If someone desperately needed their cash it could be very different for them. Oddly enough, if I'd had the time to drive to Clitheroe to collect it, I'd have done so... and popped in to buy your Streamer while I was in the area. I'll be watching for said cab popping back up when this is all sorted. -

I know it, you know it, pretty much everyone who has viewed this knows it... but it is down to Paypal to investigate (with the help of eBay) and to decide. The guy doesn't have a leg to stand on because nobody hands over something like this to a stranger knocking on the door; I'll say again that even I don't have his address yet, so no idea how he expects to convince anyone that a fraudster managed to get it. The eBay system for collection requires him to scan a code, I can guarantee that hasn't been done because I haven't requested the code... due to the fact I paid him £30 to have it shipped to the other end of the country! Confused Luke - I didn't pay cash, I paid via Paypal, funds from my CC. eBay say it is a Paypal matter as that was my payment method. I've started a case but need to wait 7 days for the guy to reply via ebay. An unnecessary delay as the guy knows he should just refund me. -
I'm about to run through 'Black Velvet' - Alannah Myles. Nothing too tricky but a slight twist as I need to transpose it up to G#m rather than Em (D#m really as it is detuned a semitone). I'm just going to have to work harder as I don't have the open strings to play with.

I'm 100% certain that I'll not see the cab (via the sale in question), I'm 99% certain that the seller is a lying cretin, I'm not putting a percentage on me getting a refund any time soon because it involves eBay and Paypal (now passing the buck)... we shall see. Up until this incident I've been of the opinion that as a seller eBay/Paypal is fraught with hazards and areas where you can get scammed/ripped off. However, I thought as a buyer it was pretty much bomb-proof and the exact opposite to the situation for a seller. My experience is revealing a whole minefield of situations. -

Oh and a pukka USA Sunburst Ray with case was just advertised and sold 15 miles from me for £750... maybe we all have it wrong and we see what we want to see. -

eBay/Paypal have had a few changes of late. eBay made me wait 10 days for him to attempt delivery and then it was transferred to Paypal... who say I have to wait 7 days while they contact eBay for details! Luckily I paid on my credit card through Paypal but if I need to go down that route I'll be involving Action Fraud and the Police (not sure if it will be of help but my wife works for the Police) as it is theft from me rather than him. -

eBay have turned it over to PayPal so we shall see. The good thing is that it's not like I can't find the guy who was the seller and if I don't get a full refund then I have someone to direct Action Fraud toward. -

No comms! After 5 days I asked for a tracking number 'no response'. After 7 days I started eBay input 'no response'. 1 day before eBay would take action, I get the message that he was confused as someone had collected it! -

You've all pretty much gone through my thought processes and conclusions! I was the winning bidder and even I don't have the seller's address... how the hell did a random person know he had the cab, that it was paid for and where to collect from? Oddly there was an earlier correspondence from him to say it had been returned to him as damaged in transit by the courier but he has later refuted that and said it was a mistake and a different item. I would like to hope that ebay has a system whereby I will get a full refund as there is no evidence that this item has been delivered or collected by me! I also firmly believe that he is miffed that it only made £199 and he is just reneging on the deal and this is his 'get out'! However, I'll also be watching his future ebay sales with interest to see if it pops back up. -

Cab was for sale in Clitheroe... just saying. -
Bought/Won said cab on ebay over a week ago (cheap enough at £199 starting bid with no other bidders), paid for it (+ £30 shipping) immediately. Long story short; the cab hasn't been delivered to me because the seller has had someone knock on their door, claimed they had won the auction and were there to collect the cab. Seller duly handed it over and is now puzzled/shocked that I am subsequently querying where/when my cab is to be delivered! The cab is patently now stolen property, so if anyone sees one popping up for sale any time soon please message me with the details as I'd be very interested to see who is selling it! All thoughts/comments welcome.

Surely it is an 'observation' of the state of affairs and not anyone revelling in gains/loses... in fact can you revel when there are gains being made by those who decide to sell? -

A quick look back through sales ads on BC and you'd find that a couple of years ago, £1k for a Ray would be expensive (£800 was an average price)! I recall seeing a few go on eBay for £700ish... folks are nearly asking that for none USA models now. -

Oddly enough, I'm in the market for a 'posh' used bass but I'll be damned if I can find one at anything but top dollar prices! Contacted someone re a bass (of which type I am familiar) and the guy wanted about 60% more than I sold an identical instrument 2 years ago! I might have said that was a one off but it isn't. Prices of the range of instruments I'm looking for (doesn't have to say 'W' on the headstock) don't appear to be anything other than MORE expensive. Saying that, it isn't to say anyone will be paying these asking prices, maybe folks down on their luck/not gigging, need more money hence higher asking prices! -
I agree that is what they should have done. However, when a manager steps in and says 'No!' it isn't just a fickle assistant wanting to slope off for a cuppa. TBH at the time I was a mature guy and they'd have known that I wasn't just goofing about or not knowing what I was doing around an instrument. Their loss at the end of the day.
