Comparing courier quotes for sending a bass door to door
warwickhunt replied to a topic in General Discussion
You haven't added insurance premium (wasted on PF as they won't honour it in T&C). I sold a £1000 bass on ebay and thought £50 would be more than enough... £80 with insurance cover. -
"The parcel was moved by some unknown government body from lost property and placed with Peacock Auctions. This unknown body has a long standing relationship with Peacock Auctions and has sold thousands of items via them." ^ This.

I'm sure it is a mistake but it made me smile that he says cash on collection only... and emphasises UK buyers only! Like someone from Europe is not allowed to come over here and buy the case. I think saying 'Collection Only' would have sufficed.

Steve's an absolute gent. Just bought my Markbass combo; no messing about, he knew exactly what he was after and we were done and dusted in no time... other than talking all things bass and checking out a few of my basses.

If anyone sees a white TKS112 for sale... it's pinched.

Yeah it isn't the Overwater guy but he does have form and seems to be known for being economical with the truth. -
If anyone sees a white TKS112 for sale... it's pinched.

I called them and had Paypal not refunded they would have initiated a process but seeing as PP have agreed to refund, they have said to let it run its course. Any glitch along the way and they will step in. -
Can I run two different cabs off the same power amp?
warwickhunt replied to Jamie Snell's topic in Amps and Cabs
Honestly, you are overthinking it. I have ran 4 / 8 / 16 ohm cabs rated from 100 to 1200 watts (in LOADS of combinations) with 100 - 1600w amps and I've never destroyed one yet. So long as you don't connect a cab that is lower rated in OHMS than the amps minimum load, then you just need to proceed with caution and start turning the volume up listening to what your speaker is telling you. -
Acinonyx Nordstrand CAT Bass pup selection
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
No, he just mention pressing 'all' in. I'll try direct with Carey (don't do Instagram) but was hoping someone might have asked this before. -
I've searched the Nordstrand site and TB (big thread on this bass there) but can't find my answer, so thought I'd see if anyone can help on BC! This question is specifically about the depression of the pup selection buttons. As I understand it the single button depression gets you - both / neck / bridge / off. If I follow this correctly, pressing all 4 together gets you both pups in 'series' (as opposed to parallel using button #1). However, what does pressing buttons 1/2/3 but NOT 4 get you? There is defo a tonal difference between the 3 options; A) just button #1. B) button 1+2+3. C) button 1+2+3+4. Though I don't know what the answer is I do know which one I like. Interested to hear thoughts from owners or those who've looked at this and spotted the answer.

You'd think so... unless you'd already sold it. Maybe he got a higher offer after the end of the sale and thought he'd try his luck. -

Before this was resolved and during my digging, every person who knows him has generally 100% been negative about him. BTW his FB profile (inc CCR band pics/promo etc) has him touting the TKS bass cab for sale. I've taken screen shots of all this stuff as I'd not want him to delete it all and claim it is all made up. I also found on his ebay feedback profile that he sold this same cab a couple of months back (feedback received by him for the cab with identical serial number). Now he either took the cab back because it was a duffer (then why relist it again) or he was simply planning on conning me and hoping he'd get away with the tale of someone collecting the cab. You have to basically judge; what would a decent and reasonable person have done... not what this guy has done patently, for whatever reason! Either way and any way it is pitched, he could have simply refunded me and not let this drag on, especially as it'll take weeks to get refunded to my credit card. -

There's a clear evidence trail that it is indeed the same person. -

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE... I stated a dispute with eBay re this matter; eBay handed this over to Paypal as that is how I paid. Despite being given repeated opportunities to give ANY response re this matter Peter Barton (aka 'vintageinvestments' on eBay) refused to engage in the dispute process (quell surprise) and Paypal have refunded me. Why this guy has dragged this out is beyond me. He clearly did not hand over the cab to a stranger knocking on his door claiming to have won it... how could anyone know he had sold it on eBay and how the hell did they get his address when even I didn't have it? You just wouldn't would you? The main thing is that in about 30 days I'll have the funds credited back to my credit card (almost 7 weeks after paying) and with the assistance of BC I know a lot more about Mr Barton and I'm wise to him should I ever have the pleasure of meeting him professionally/in person. Oh and I'm still in the market for a TKS cab. -
Manufactured 2019, so thanks to Covid19 it hasn't had loads of use! I bought it with the intention of using it with an acoustic (style) 3-4 piece but changes to the rest of my gear makes this redundant. The front-ported 2x10 combo might suit those who aren't so keen on rear porting. It can be stacked with any 8 ohm Traveler or Standard cab, for more volume and headroom. The CMD 102P combo angled cabinet design allows the unit to be used either as a floor monitor or in standard vertical position. The built-in VLE and VPF filters help create a warm and natural sound. Very clean condition and drivers will be barely run in. SPEAKER: 2x10" TWEETER: piezo BASS PORT: front IMPEDANCE: 8 ohms SENSITIVITY: 101 dB SPL SPEAKER POWER HANDLING: 400W RMS (AES Standard) AMP OUTPUT POWER: 500W RMS @ 4 ohms / 300W RMS @ 8 ohms FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 40 Hz to 18 kHz CROSSOVER FREQUENCY: 3.5 kHz WEIGHT: 38.14 lbs / 17.3 Kg WIDTH: 23.03 in. / 58.5 cm HEIGHT: 18.5 in. / 47 cm DEPTH: 18.7 in. / 47.5 cm Trades - I'd never say never but PLEASE do not message me with bits of kit that I can clearly find on BC / eBay / FB for £200 and tell me it is worth £500, I'm not daft and I know how to search for relative values. Likewise '1 off' custom orders that you may well have paid £3000 for but sadly the average bassist values at £500. Sorry it is better if I'm just up front about it. Vintage Warwick basses will always float my boat, likewise unusual esoteric brands. I'm partial to a light weight bass so anything that you 'estimate' to be over 9lb (and will likely be 10lb+) isn't of interest. Be sure to message me with offers and not directly on this thread. I would be prepared to add money to a deal if it was something I wanted... an 88 Streamer Stage I would be nice.
