1.
The 2-tek was awesome. Required routing a big chunk out if I recall? Wasn't it endorsed by some chap? Loius someone? Johnson perhaps? I Vaguely it assciate with a Treker bass? (which I'm sure inspired the guy that drew the Warwick katana) but it coulda just been on the same page of a magazine.
I had a 2-Tek equipped Warwick Fortress Flashback bass and the bass did have huge presence/sustain, how much could be attributed to the bridge I have no idea! Mind the bridge alone must have weighed nigh on 2lb. IIRC Michael Anthony of VH had them fitted to several of his MM Sterling basses.
 2.
I'm still on my first tin after 10 years of ownership. Maybe I should polish it more frequently! I'd have thought any beeswax based polish would be fine - just avoid silicones and solvents. Alex
Ditto. I only just moved onto my 2nd tin a couple of years ago. I'm often amazed when I hear of folks going through a tin a year... it smells alright but I hope they aren't eating it!
 3. 20+ years and counting of owning Warwicks and yes you can use off the shelf beeswax nourisher. I'm not sure you can call any of the waxes 'cleaners', I've not looked into the science of it but tbh wax nourishes (and I include the Warwick stuff) wood and seems almost contrary to what I'd call cleaning... ie you are waxing over the top of/into dirt rather than lifting it off. Not that it matters as it just makes it look better IMHO.
 4.
Hoi! I'll have you know, young man, I played a Jazz last night. Yes... a Jazz. It had TWO PICKUPS and everything! It was like a bass from the future. Anyway, I was honkin' away at the bridge and I never noticed the grub screws once. So there.
that was the neck you were anchored to NOT the bridge... that's why you didn't notice the grub screws!
 5. Main issue that I had with the 'old' Fender bent plate bridge was the grub screws invariably stood to proud and were uncomfortable if you played close to or muted over the bridge. No worries for WoT as he wouldn't know what that first 8" - 9" of string was for!
 6.
Found this on Ebay UK last night - I think it looks rather gorgeous. Don't know if the seller is anyone on here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=280349606434
I'm fairly certain this is the resident Roscoe 'Bike'! It'd probably be fairer to ask who hasn't owned it... Me actually! It is a lovely bass by all accounts and may have come with Nordstrands IIRC. That is a shocking listing though; if it is a BC selling it (which I'm fairly certain it is), please sorted the beggar out so that you don't have to scroll across to view the listing! Then contact me if you fancy a trade for a Jazz!
 7.
I will be willing to deliver if your in a 30 miles radius for free. Anything over that i will have to charge unless your willing to pick it up or meet half way.
I'm not in the market for one but... a 30 mile radius of where?
 8.
Hi there Why not offer it on here, or the Yahoo walbassesnaturally group, first? Gareth
Surely it is being offered for sale on here... it's in the 'For Sale' section!
 9. £1500 with Hardcase and UK carriage.
 10. One last bump for this one then it is gone! <edit> Like it says ^ chance gone!
 11.
Afternoon all, I've had a look round the net but can't quite seem to find what i'm lookin for so thought you knowledgeable ladies and gentlemen would be able to help. Could someone (in words I can understand) explain the difference between Made in Japan and Crafted in Japan for Fender basses? Is there a difference in quality? Thanks Gary
Simple answer... One was made before the other!
 12.
Yes, thats a fair comment and if anyone would like more detail or my thoughts, they're welcome to PM me. Better that than yet more misinterpretations eh?
You have a PM CK.
 13.
There is one of those in Canterbury, the guy wants £1200 fot it.
How much! For an Ibanez 8?
 14.
that was exactly what I was getting at regarding the pricing of these basses
Don't get hung up on comparing prices. It is as pointed out by 'noelk27' that it is just a satellite brand and price point has nothing to do with it. You could argue that the Sadowsky Metro series are to Sadowsky NYC, what Squier are to Fender... how can a Metro bass now cost nearly £2000? If a Rockbass appeals to you then pick it up, play it, and ask yourself does it justify the price tag? You will of course have to draw comparison with other similar priced basses no matter what the name on the headstock or the place that the bass falls into in the companies pricing structure.
 15. My preferred colour also... I also dislike the plate but hey it's a MM so it has to have! I tried one of these (very briefly) at a local bash and I have to say it played beautifully and a nice tone. I'd have snagged that had I not been distracted.
 16.
Thanks. But I doubt he'd remember me after a 10 year gap.
Don't kid yourself. The tw*t always says hello to me when I bump into him in NEXT (usually following our respective SWMBOs), which is about Oooh... every 5-10 years!
 17.
Without wanting to sound rude...my Q is what string you prefer...Stainless or Nickle....What feels best for you..WarwickHunt, you must have played a few..!!
When you've lived long enough you get to try most things in life! Like most people when I started off I begged, borrowed and stole strings (the last ones a lie officer). When I could afford to buy them I bought what the shop had cheap regardless of material or manufacturers name but as I developed an understanding, I went for the likes of Rotosound and D'Addario Steels as I liked the extra 'grind' they seem to give (all technical terms with me, as you will see). However, your musical style and tastes can change and I gradually got weaned onto Nickels. They are a bit softer from the outset (tonally and feel) and I find that when they have lost a bit of the initial 'zing' they stay consistent for a greater length of time; whereas Steels start of with more snap/bite/grind but they generally loose their best qualities quicker than Nickels; though there are exceptions to every rule! As for manufacturers... these days there are a lot less duff strings out there (I'm lead to believe that a great many strings are produced in the same factories and just packaged differently) and the days of getting strings that go ping or that are dead when you put them on are pretty rare. You do get marginally better strings the more you pay but there is the law of diminishing returns and once up to £20 you really should be getting a quality string. Round/Ground/Compressed/Flats... Musical style and genre affects ALL choices really. I can appreciate flats and every now and again I like to give them a try (I have a set on one of my Warwicks, the fault of WoT after I played a couple of his Flats strung Jazzes), a bit like rich blue cheese; nice every now and then but not every day! Groundwounds and Pressurewounds can be really nice feeling/sounding strings... in fact I may reacquaint myself with a set soon however, every day strings for me would be Roundwounds (Nickel, as above). I like that bit of attack/grind you get that comes naturally with Rounds, though I admit you can still get a bit from Flats (I was around when Iron Maiden were a pub band and I was frankly shocked to hear that Steve Harris used Flats ) It's a great learning curve and I'm always prepared to be surprised or have my perceptions challenged but for now I'll buy Nickels; probably Thomastik 'Alloys' (from Thomann) or DR Sunbeams BUT I've also bought a bunch of Hartke Nickels off eBay at £4 a set... just to chuck on for some school productions where I'm not too fussed about sacrificing a smidgen of tone for the need to change strings regularly. Good luck.
 18.
I've just put DR Sunbeams on my GL2500. Very very nice, still a bit too bright for me (don't like stainless!) but the feel is perfect.
Sunbeams or Thomastik (nickel) Alloys (see Thomann site). If you just want to test some nickels out for cost effectiveness then check out some of the eBay offers on Hartke strings; I got 3 sets of strings for £12. Ideal if you have string eating sweat.
 19.
It would be wow! if I could play it. Four strings is about two too many for me
Gorgeous! Only 1 string too many for me BUT... 3 knobs and 3 switches too much for a simpleton like me.
 20.
If money is no object you could try to find a Zon Sonus 8 string... very light for an 8 and also has a graphite neck!
... and did someone mention Warwick? I had a NT Streamer in a VERY 'custom' colour (2nd from right). The bass was painted like that at the factory and was owned by KRAFFT bassist Helmut Hattler. A lovely sounding and playing instrument but hardly ideal for a covers band!
 21.
If money isn't an issue get yourself a Hamer 8 (or 12) string bass - you won't get a better one.
If money is no object you could try to find a Zon Sonus 8 string... very light for an 8 and also has a graphite neck!
 22. Try contacting The Bass Doc, he made me a custom 4 ply VERY lurvly tortie plate at a very reasonable cost.
 23.
The general pecking order is Affinity, Standard, Vintage Modified, Classic Vibe. Deluxe fits in there somewhere as well! For bass/£ equations, you've really got to look at the Affinity for true value, but for the price, those classic vibes can't be beaten. They trounce most MIM Fenders.
I have to agree. The Jazz CV I got from FunkyHobbit (first owner being Marcus) is so playable that it is frankly astonishing for the money... my caveat being that I am talking fit, finish and playability; as the pups in this are full blown EMGs so I'd expect them to beat most stock MIM/MIJ/MIA pups.
 24. J - 01 = Sept 01 re. the whole CS issue. If it is made by the CS it will say so if it is a Ltd Ed etc it won't have the CS markings but normally (certainly 2001) has a plate indicating the serial number and year of manufacture. I'm not big on the various BO Thumb bass releases but IMHO a post on the Warwick Forum would shed more light on what the bass actually is (if that matters to anyone) than a response from Warwick HQ. Regardless of any of that... good luck getting your trade.
 25. How old is the bass and is there a CS plate on the back of the headstock above the volute or a 'holographic' (for want of a better word) CS logo on the back of the headstock top?
