1. I love the look of these Hamer guitars and for the money they are a steal but I have to confess Chris, that the 'sunburst' on your particular instrument appears to have faded pretty quickly!
 2.
Not true im afraid. If they price it incorrectly you cant force them to sell it to you at the lower price. The precision had a Jaguar price ticket on which is different to being deliberately misleading, in which case its a case for Trading Standards.
I think I've been beaten to it by several others but to reiterate... this idea that a seller 'has' to let you have an item at a given price, even if they have incorrectly marked it so, is an urban myth. I'd be swinging my foot to try and connect with my backside if I was you though Peter.
 3. If you look hard enough you might find a used Sadowsky Metro... in fact eubassix has one for about that price!
 4.
Simply because the words 'ridicule' and 'fun' do not go together unless you spent your school years stealing the smaller kids' dinner money. Guideline 5 stands, if you have an issue with a daft price then either send the seller a polite PM or ignore the thread. You can tell quite a bit about a seller through his responses to PMs too. Talkbass wouldn't stand for ridicule (yes, they have a rule), so I don't see why this forum should.
I've read the thread a couple of times and though an individuals definition of 'ridicule' may vary, I can't see anyone has ridiculed the seller! With regard to prices and the fact that sometimes people (myself included) don't put a price on an item and invite 'offers' maybe we should follow the TB example and make it a rule that you state upfront exactly how much you want for something...?
 5.
Thanks SteveO, you seem to be the only one who knows about those basses..the other ones please collect agathis squiers crafted in corea
A slightly condescending tone to take on a 'bass' forum, don't you think?

However, not wishing to cause a ruck but I think you'll find that 3 out of those 4 listings are for sale from someone who the basschat ebay police might call 'The Joker'... he regularly gives us all a laugh with his listing prices! However the bass is still worth what someone will pay for it and it IS your prerogative to sell it for any price you like and no one can take that away from you. <edit> Why do I always take so long to type a reply that someone else beats me to it (Hiperi0n in this instance)?
 7.
Swap you for a Roller Blind
Wait till I get the 16 bedroom mansion and you can do all the windows as a trade!
 8. Updated for the final time.
 9.
Warwickhunt, Thanks man if its not too much of a drag... Especially since they may get a bit jittery (like we do here) to join and then put stuff up for sale. Id buy you a drink if you ever came down to London :-). Fatos
Done and no drink required, just helping spread some lurv. Shame you can't look into carriage as you might get a bit of interest in Europe.
 10. Have you considered putting this on the Warwick forum? If you can't be bothered to join give me a shout and I'll stick a thread up with a link to basschat.
 11.
The bottom two have ACG written all over them imo. Is it just me that sees this?
tbh Peter most of the designs in that competition looked a lot like other designs (even a bit of handbags over Benavente/ACG designs at one point) but you do have to accept that folks were designing basses to win a competition and that involves appealing to the masses. There are only so many variations on a couple of designs that work (without alienating 75% of the bass buying public) so it was always going to end up looking like something else!
 12.
You may well be right sir. I took "spalted" straight from the sales particulars when I bought it. I shall edit and make that clear on my original post. You're not going to make me an offer I can't refuse then?
Tempted (though I don't know the weight, I'd better it was 9.5lb+ which would be a factor for me) but then again I've had my eye on a few things of late but timing on anything else isn't great for me at the minute! Good luck.
 13. As has been stated it's a Tech Soundsystems cab and if perspective isn't skewing things then that is an ND6x12 cab (1800w and 104db sensitivity)... why the hell would you need to add a 1X15? In all seriousness that single cab would operate far better by itself than if you added another cab into the equation. I owned the 6x10 version and it was a monster, in fact it still resides with a BCer. Dood and a great many others can chip in with views on these cabs if you change the title to 'Tech Soundsystems'! Value - based upon the fact that 4x10 and 4x12 examples have been offered for £500-£600 (good condition), I'd say that the 6x12 is worth about that if not a smidgen more BUT I'm taking in to account the fact that the cab looks well used and that most of the 4x10s and 4x12s out there are enough for most people, so in this instance I'd not pay a huge amount more for the extra 2 drivers. <edit for typo>
 14. Nice bass. Surely that is quilted maple rather then spalted though?
 15. The man says; "what you see is what you get" (well that brief statement does make up almost 15% of the total listing ) so... what you will NOT be getting is a Precision then!
 16. I feel the need for a (mini)Bass-Bash... "Michael ?"
 17.
This went for £510.00 this afternoon - anyone on here get it?
That's got to hurt the seller... £510 minus final value fees and if the seller pays by paypal then he's looking @ £470 (net)!
 18. JHS distribute for Wilkinson so they may be able to help. You can get the Wilkinson EQ pots etc for £40 (see below), which if you speak to them they should be able to tell you if it'll work with your pups, they may even be persuaded to send you a scanned copy of the instructions... up to you then if you go your own way or purchase the kit. http://www.jhs.co.uk/wilkinson.html#bass
 19. 1) I have noticed that the E string sounds slightly muted/less bright than the other strings when played from the seventh fret up. Is this just because the strings are knackered, or could it point towards a more serious problem? A) Stick a new set of strings on and you'll eliminate much of the doubt. 2) While the strings are off, i'd like to give the neck and frets a clean. Are there any particular products that should be used, and any that should be avoided? A) Lemon oil for the fingerboard (I assume it isn't a lacquered maple board) and the back of the neck a soft dry cloth, which if it is very dirty/gunky then as suggested a 'little' squirt of polish on a cloth and give it a wipe (or just use the cloth impregnated with lemon oil that you used on the fingerboard. 3) Is there a proper method for replacing strings, is it as easy as it looks or should i get a shop to do it for me? A) I'm sure there is a link in the Wiki with regard to changing strings but it is pretty easy, I could try and explain it but pictures make it far easier than words. Don't get a shop to do it they'll charge you for the pleasure (which it is) and you'll learn more about your own instrument if you learn to do it yourself. 4) And finally that old gem "What strings should i buy?" I'm leaning towards some of the Ernie Ball Slinky strings, but i'm unsure which type. If it's of any help, i'm going to be playing (i hope) everything from punk and hard rock, to folk and pop, so i guess i need an allround set. A) I'd suggest a set of round-wounds and I'd not worry just now about getting the most expensive. Medium gauge 40-100 would probably suit you until you decide if you want heavier or lighter. In fact I have a few sets of the very reasonable nickel Hartke strings (bought off eBay as a deal), which if you are just starting out will likely suit you and they didn't cost the earth. Drop me a PM if you'd like to try a brand new set and you can have them at cost price; about a fiver.
 20. Octaver (Boss) - Chorus (Boss) - Phaser (EHM Small Stone 'original') I also now have an EBS Compressor but I'm not sure that I'd class it as an effect and it hasn't earned a place on my pedal board as yet.
 21. I'm 5 minutes from WoT and a few of you other guys, I'd like to hear these cabs! Thunderfunk and Barefaced anyone?
 22.
That looks like my old one. Went to the guy from 100 Reasons via the Gallery then I think appeared on ebay again. Is it a '91? I can't remember the serial number. By far the best of the 2 Dolphin Pro 1s I've had (the 2nd was a '96).
Hope this isn't hi-jacking! You get a free bump I suppose. I doubt that it is your bass (though it is a 91), as I bought it about 15 years ago and kept it till it was sold to Canada last year.
 23. I remember 15 years or so ago there was a local ad in the free-ads paper for a guy selling an 'old Ferder guitar' (correct spelling as per the ad), that had been in his loft since 1957 when his dad bought it; £50 ono. The seller apologised in the ad that the strings weren't all there, so the guitar would need a 'couple of new ones to be useable'. Needless to say when I rang at 07:45 on the morning of that weeks publication the guy who's phone number I rang was still quite jovial about the 'jape' his mates had pulled, "Nah sorry mate, it's my birthday today and the lads are having a laugh putting that ad in with my phone number"... by 21:00 that night when one of my mates rang, it was a case of, "f*ck off you stupid tw*t, of course I don't have a f*ckin Strat for £50, get f*ckin real, you f*ckin' d*ck head!". That's what mates are for, isn't it?
 24.
The DB112/112NT setup is just great...Which one do you put on the bottom?
Purely so that the tweeter is closer to ear level (though still well short of that) I put the tweeter loaded cab on top. Saying that I generally just have the tweeter on 50% any way!
