1. Yorkshire/Derbyshire Keyboards player wanted for top journey tribute act, "DEPARTURE" Edit: Here's a couple of vids of our 2nd gig... http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...utorID=40787695 We currently have the best singer you can imagine, ...singing some of the best songs for a vocalist. It doesn't get any better than this. We're looking to replace our keyboard player who has announced he's leaving for personal reasons. Gigs will be approximately 2 per month (Saturday nights where possible) and so far have been able to pay the band between £50 - £100 each, per gig. (We hope to get more theatre gigs once we are established, and hope to be able to pay better once we have established our name) We are still upcoming and have only got 3 gigs under our belt so far, but this is a great outfit, and we're already creating a fantastic buzz. We also have the full support of the official UK Journey Fan club, who have nothing but favourable comments for our band! The succesful applicant will only need his/her own keyboards and transport as we have an "Aviom" monitoring system and can provide a backline as required. We are a professional outlooking band (while still being semi-pro) and to that end we have a full lightshow (hired) and I own a 20k Turbosound PA system with full individually/personally mixable, digital monitoring stations. No compromise... Contact me on O7947 8O574 Thanks for your interest... Andy. PS, Fellow Bassists... do you know anyone you think might be suitable? We need someone quickly if possible, as we have gigs pending which we don't want to pull out of.
 2.
Well the Manchester Ritz show was a BLAST!! 1500 people and loads of new friends as a result Time for a summer break now then back in August with a trip to Russia(!!) before resuming UK gigging (see above ^ post)
Russia? Holy cow! Great googly moogly! Good luck with that buddy. I think you'll f'ing storm 'em!!!!
 3.
I'm thinking of getting one of these, but I have seen some concerns on the PV forums about reliability. Are yours running okay Andy?
I can't really help on the question of reliability, and won't be able to for a long time. I only just got mine, and they are only being used for monitor amplification. We only gig about 1 a month at the moment, so it would be another year before I could safely say that they're looking reliable. All I can say is that mine are still ok after 1 gig... Not much help at all, I'm afraid.
 4.
Our headline show (Rock Radio B'day Bash) at Manchester Ritz next Friday (7th) is now SOLD OUT!! All 1500 tickets sold! Woohoo!!
That's gonna be a helluva night! Nice one buddy!!!
 5.
Ahhh, but you do have something in Stourbridge in September. I'm from West Bromwich originally and even lived on the Stourbridge Road for a while. So possible multiple birds with single stone scenario!
Well worth the travel in my humble opinion! I haven't seen any other band around these parts put on anything like as professional and entertaining a show as these guys. ..oh, and authentic, did I mention authentic? I shall be going to see them as often as I can get!
 6.
Nice one Andy! Hope to catch you guys sometime....
Well in fairness this *is* a local for us, and over half the audience were friends and family/workmates... but I'll take it where I can get it buddy! lol

 8. We had a stonking gig last night! Venue completely packed! Result! There were about 10 vid cameras around the place. (yep 10 no kidding) I'll try to get some vids up in the other forum.
 9. Well I gave it a go on the bass and to be honest there was no discernable difference between the peavey (£339) and my powersoft (£1200) The main difference is that the Peavey weighs a third or less... but is 2 units high (rather than the Powersoft's 1U.) however the price difference means I could buy extra racks with the savings, I guess. The only really irritating thing about the Peavey is that they put some really insanely bright LEDs on the front. These things were so bright as to be distracting from offstage. They seem ok when you're stood by the amp but from down in the audience these things look brighter than the lightshow! So I put gaffer tape over them. I'm sure those LEDs would be appreciated more by our DJ bretheren than us musos... aw bless! So in summary, I think that you can't get much more bang for bucks than this! (I gather that Peavey have been having trouble getting these to the UK and there have only been about 100 distributed here. ...and that the next earliest delivery will be August. So if you are considering getting one it may be an idea to get one while it's possible. On the other hand it could be a load of bollock spoken by a salesman. I dunno.) Good luck if you decide to get one. Andy
 10. Just got my 2x IPR-1600 today. These things are silly light. The boxes feel like they could be empty. They seem to have lots of power too. But that was just playing regular music through. Mine aren't really intended for bass use, but for monitor amplification. I'll give it a whirl on the bass rig though and let you know how they compare to my current Powersoft Digam 3002 power amp for bass. BTW... paid £339 for each and that's a LOT of watts per pound. (I think Dolphin have them at £299.) And at such a light weight its even more watts per lb.
 11. Well, I *would* have been interested, if I wasn't halfway up the country... and already in a Journey tribute band. Good luck with it though mate! I hope you find your Vallory!
 12. I own both... Hmmm The answer to your question is Tone Hammer. But only just. Everyone raves about Sansamp, but they don't sound too natural to me. I prefer the Aggie.
 13.
Nice stuff Andy, enjoyed that a lot! Rare as hen's teeth though, singers with that sort of range. Personally I'd love to do a Journey tribute.
Yeah, thanks for that! ...If you can get past the Italian accent (which seems to be a bonus with the ladies) he's got a great range. We were very lucky to find him. He manages all the Perry songs in the original keys, which is quite unusual. And he's a smashing guy to boot!
 14. We'll be playing at The Venue, Birdwell, Barnsley, next Saturday Tickets are available on the door at £6. It'd be nice to see some faces to put to the text, so get your asses over there! 15. Good gig at Birdwell last night buddy! The audience were loving it! Great bass sound and playing too. Puts me to shame... I was a bit intimidated by a seven foot 'Gene Simmons' in full make up, (me being only 5'6)... So I hope you'll forgive me saying hi, and getting outta there. Andy
 16.
Would you believe it of the guy who had a house full of Warwicks... I've essentially got two left and a fretless Streamer for sale!
I wouldn't have believed it mate! I hope you kept that wonderful Thunderfunk though....
 17. sh*t.. I like MM's well enough, but there is only one look that would make me want to buy. And this one is it. That's the *perfect* Music man for my taste mate! Lovely! Good luck with the trade...
 18. Just over two months left, and I still haven't had any pictures... I wrote Joe and he said he'll get some pics off on Monday when he get back from his vacation. so there might be pics coming shortly! I just did a little sex piss...
 19. If I wasn't already drowning in a sea of cabs I don't use, I'd buy this just for the investment. In a few months, when things pick up, there's a good chance of making a bit of cash on this to a shrewd investor...
 20. ah I see I set off a larger debate than I intended. I was only joking about the offloading remark. Big apologies to Higgie who via a PM was mortified, thinking I was being serious. That'll teach me to be flippant. When will I learn, I'm just NOT funny. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just so that everyone is kept happy, and everything is officially legal... *I* bought this and am going to send it over to a mate in the states who will make good use of it legally I'm sure.
 21.
If they operate outside the de-reg frequencies you could always buy a license.... doesn't mean the units are illegal
makes sense to me....
 22.
As far as I know they are? They're used by quite a few people on this forum, and neither my dad or me have had any trouble with frequency interference or anything!
no. they're not legal. they don't operate within the prescribed bandwidth allocated to free usage in the UK. shame really. I'm glad you managed to sell this bit of highly dubious gear before "the man" got you buddy.
 23.
Bumping for our April & May gigs.... Fri 16th April - Glasgow 'Renfrew Ferry' (this is one of our fave gigs!) Sat 17th April - Barnsley 'Birdwell' (first visit to this venue so any support would be appreciated!) Fri 7th May - Manchester 'Ritz' (Rock Radio 2nd B'day party.... with support from tributes to Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden & Metallica) Hope to see some of you there
OH WOW! thats UNBELIEVABLE! You're on at Birdwell the Saturday before I am! I'll come up to see you on the 17th for SURE. Birdwell is like, 25 mins from my house. I'm on there on the 24th with "Departure" Birdwell likes the Rock bands, so you'll do well. I hope they save some enthusiasm for us! LoL (It'll be our first time there (and only our second gig))
 24.
I haven't seen them for sale over here either, so I don't know how much they are new. It cost me £150 new from America so I've just knocked off the cost of shipping. Yes they are digital, and yeah they are brilliant. My Dad and I both use ours without any trouble what so ever, and you will also find many users of them on here and on TalkBass. Cheers
Sorry for the delay buddy I PM'd you with the reply. Andy Actually I notice you have a Shuker (in your sig). That's where I've been today. I had John replace the horrible old, and very sharp nut on both my thumb basses, followed by a set up... First time I've visited him. What a lovely, helpful chap! Some nice looking basses in the making too! I might order one for my next bass, myself.
