  1. I'd forgotten about this one till now - Nicodemus - Boneman Connection Also it bought back a clear memory for me - I was listed to John Peel in my bedroom, and my brother was listening in his. He cracked up at 'toe-nail bone' and knocked on my door to say "did you hear that?" .... Nearly 40 years ago.
  2. Liked both of those......... from the bubier end I pick this (Vivien Goldman):
  3. True enough, and I would include a knack for great quirky lyrics in the musical genius.
  4. I remember that doc. Bucks Fizz are a million miles from my type of music..... but by the end of the doc I was rooting for them . They seemed OK people at least and the Dollar guy was a complete twunt. He is exactly the sort of person you don't want to invite into your band.
  5. I thought it was really good, covered a lot of my favorite areas of the reggae landscape. I listened whilst out for stroll.... tried to follow the track list but failed. Be interesting to know which two you rated.
  6. How about this.........
  7. Agree with " Christmas Wrapping".......but this too: simple understated and cool. Low - Just Like Christmas:
  8. I don't have ADHD or anything like that, but my brain is wired such that I struggle to focus…. my mind goes on tangent after tangent ending up down some rabbit hole most of the time. I like it! I think is the main part of who I am, but comes at price sometime. All my school reports said that I was not disruptive, but a daydreamer.... most often I'd go into my own internal world.
  9. Really? I love it when I 'get' a high-brow reference 😉
  10. Maybe try some tracks that have vocals that the sax either interplays or alternated with. With the sax removed of course. Then it would be easy to know were you are....then play in unison with line a, counter melody to line b, riff after each chorus or whatever it is.
  11. These instruments do strike me as having a high novelty-wear-off factor..............
  12. You rat... I hope you and Gear for Music are very happy together, I think you pretty much deserve each other 😉.
  13. Teachers have a difficult job.... hopefully things like this are helpful to them.
  14. I'll submit this, and classify as good . Like the bass line 😃 - the Dickies "Silent Night"
  15. Yes, it does seem kind of wrong.... but I'm pretty sure that's just an irrational reaction. I guess I don't think anyone is worth that amount of money. But in Bob's favour he has earned that solely through personal talent, rather than leveraging wealth to begat more wealth , or wealth extraction.
  16. At last I know who it is! I remember this song from my then-girlfriend but forgot the name (of the artist, not the girlfriend!) 35 years or so ago. In the last few years I tried looking for Nina Hagen (I knew the artist was a German contempory of Nina) on YouTube then listening to the suggested tracks in the sidebar. To no avail. But now you've solved it, so thanks!
  17. I remember that Adam and the Ants was the other popular jacket painting. I remember seeing it loads of jackets at gigs etc, but before I had the chance to hear DWWS they had charted with the Antmusic version of the band, and the previous line up had become the basis of Bow Wow Wow.
  18. Just listened to Tubeway Army's "Replicas" album. It was featured in full in a 6music show. I bought it when it came out, but not listened to it much since really. I usually think of Gary as a great innovator with a few great singles.... but actually was pleased t osee the album stills folds up really well.
  19. I'd love to be young enough to say that a Youtube post was my favourite as a kid!
  20. Surely the genre you like has a 'math' sub-genre? Just work it out from there.
  21. Expected better from the BBC, especially when musicians have limited other forms of income.
  22. Based on my previous comments I think we can assume that LB don't believe in the standard binary division of band/audience.
  23. Good question..... I’m guessing there is some kind of long scale banjo and he adds a bit more length beyond the nut or something?
  24. I like Lightening Bolt, own one album by them and would love to see them live. Apparently they don't play on stage, but on the floor in the middle of the audience…. in this case surrounded by a barrier. Apparently, for extra non-conformity they sometimes start their set within a few seconds of the support band finishing. The line up is one guy on drums/vocals (vocals are into an old fashioned telephone stuck to mask which he wears) and one guy on Bass (G string replaced by a banjo string).
