  1. Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Shiny Beat ~(Bat Chain Puller) Here's my fave track - Tropical Hot Dog Night
  2. It's almost as if the general public don't care about that kind of thing........
  3. For anyone else who is not understanding the debate about bridges here is a pic of the the bass so we can admire the aesthetic qualities. Nice looking bass.
  4. Just need the bass solo which never starts.......
  5. I don't like the look of a clip on tuner during a performance. Ok if the gubbins are hidden.
  6. Bit like a Masons secret handshake...........
  7. Eventually, yes. But has to be learned via a method. I start by learning from a full lyric sheet. then I write it out with a few key words per line - like this pic. After that I go to one word per line. And then eventually nothing (in most cases) - might have the odd word on the set list.
  8. Had a browse in the hard drive for stuff I don't listen to much. Found the Noisettes debut album "Whats the time Mr Wolf"....not my normal thing, but something must have made me buy it.....enjoyed it much more than I expected..... good band.
  9. It makes being in a band look like........er , I dunno....... fun!?
  10. I don't really need one.... I play either originals or covers which were on four string. Do I want one? Not really..... I have a mental list of the gear I'd like and a 5 string isn't on it. If circumstances change, then maybe...... but it's unlikely given my playing ability that I'm going to join a theatre pit orchestra any time soon!
  11. Depends how old you define ‘kid’ in my case. pre-teen I wanted to be a scientist or something. Teens I wanted to be a rock star. Now I work in IT which is like a cross between the two ..... right?
  12. Well, finally pulled the trigger. Pretty good so far... the sounds are good enough for what I need in the band, and the MIDI is good enough for what I need at home. I don't need my 61 key midi controller now, which was a pain to store and use. Happy with it in test mode..... now to use it for real. I'll do a home recording with it...... but don't know when I'll get to try it with the band.
  13. Not seen any research, but my gut feel is 'no' , given the amount of other systems in various cultures around the world and over time. I guess if any number of beats had a biological basis it would be two.... e.g the alternating footsteps of two feet. And four is two times two...........
  14. A bass player who was told to play roots?
  15. I Gemini, first album from Let's Eat Grandma. The band are two best friends from Norfolk, and were about 16 when they made this. Here's "Deep Six Textbook".
  16. I'd forgotten about this one till now - Nicodemus - Boneman Connection Also it bought back a clear memory for me - I was listed to John Peel in my bedroom, and my brother was listening in his. He cracked up at 'toe-nail bone' and knocked on my door to say "did you hear that?" .... Nearly 40 years ago.
  17. Liked both of those......... from the bubier end I pick this (Vivien Goldman):
  18. True enough, and I would include a knack for great quirky lyrics in the musical genius.
  19. I remember that doc. Bucks Fizz are a million miles from my type of music..... but by the end of the doc I was rooting for them . They seemed OK people at least and the Dollar guy was a complete twunt. He is exactly the sort of person you don't want to invite into your band.
  20. I thought it was really good, covered a lot of my favorite areas of the reggae landscape. I listened whilst out for stroll.... tried to follow the track list but failed. Be interesting to know which two you rated.
  21. Agree with " Christmas Wrapping".......but this too: simple understated and cool. Low - Just Like Christmas:
  22. I don't have ADHD or anything like that, but my brain is wired such that I struggle to focus…. my mind goes on tangent after tangent ending up down some rabbit hole most of the time. I like it! I think is the main part of who I am, but comes at price sometime. All my school reports said that I was not disruptive, but a daydreamer.... most often I'd go into my own internal world.
