  1. IIRC Alex James used to waggishly refer to himself as the the "third most important person in Blur".
  2. Having a listen to Hugh Cornwell's 'solo' outing - actually a collaboration with latter-day Beefheart drummer Robert Williams - "Nosferatu". Here's "Wired" (some interesting comments from Robert in the Youtube comments!)
  3. I put this in the reggae thread just a day or two ago...… Marcia Griffiths:
  4. Got to be The Pixies "Wild Honey Pie"
  5. Don't Let Me Down - Marcia Griffiths Here's the Beatles original - not bad either!
  6. Don't get me started on the "sham" Sham 69 !!
  7. True - and same situation for most orchestras, brass bands, choirs etc. @Bilbo will your piece/analysis include a comparison of how in pop/rock original members is 'a thing', but not in other musical forms? (might be interesting to see the final piece)
  8. I think Napalm Death have turned over twice. None of the current band have been in the band at the same time as any of the original line up. Basically new drummer joined, and by side two of the debut album (!) all the original members had left. and he started a new line up for second half of debut album. Then then the new members left after a couple of albums. Another line up. Drummers leaves. All current members have been there since late 80's though!
  9. Forgot all about this till today (thanks 6music)......... it's poppy, rappy and fun.... but reggae enough for here I think. The Wee Papa Girl Rappers - Wee Rule
  10. Good news that there's not clapping on the 1 and 3!
  11. Thanks, I knew it was coming but might have missed it. The recorder is set, just need to find a good time to watch it.
  12. I think that 80’s production did not do Whitney any favours either .
  13. While one of these will show how soul singing should not be done, hopefully the other will show how it should be done.
  14. Ha Ha loved it, thanks for sharing!
  15. Yes, you wouldn't waste much time fumbling for that!
  16. I guess at the time it was written 64 was a much 'older' age than it is now?
  17. I guess it was this one:? Here's a link if anyone is interested. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000qq4h/christmas-morning-christmas-morning-from-the-church-of-god-of-prophecy-birmingham I'm also not religious, but it's hard not to enjoy the general vibe of this!
  18. Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Shiny Beat ~(Bat Chain Puller) Here's my fave track - Tropical Hot Dog Night
  19. It's almost as if the general public don't care about that kind of thing........
  20. For anyone else who is not understanding the debate about bridges here is a pic of the the bass so we can admire the aesthetic qualities. Nice looking bass.
  21. Or pushed
  22. Just need the bass solo which never starts.......
  23. I don't like the look of a clip on tuner during a performance. Ok if the gubbins are hidden.
  24. Bit like a Masons secret handshake...........
  25. Eventually, yes. But has to be learned via a method. I start by learning from a full lyric sheet. then I write it out with a few key words per line - like this pic. After that I go to one word per line. And then eventually nothing (in most cases) - might have the odd word on the set list.
