  1. Gwenno. this is in Welsh, but apparantly she also sings in English and Cornish.
  2. Amazing achievement by Delia and the other contributors.
  3. Jimi Hendrix, pre-Experience. Part of Curtis Knight and The Squires.
  4. There's Hatebeak... the heavy metal band with a parrot lead singer.
  5. You might be in the minority. But based on this comment, it does sound like a good idea to regularly use both your amp and back-up amp:
  6. In terms of redundancy, is this serial or parallel usage?
  7. It's cheaper, and IMO justifiable in terms of risk management. Risk management is about taking into account a) the likelihood/probability of a thing happening and b) the consequence of the thing happening. Amp failures don't happen very often The consequence of having no amp is massively worse than having an OK amp. The consequence of having an OK amp is only slightly worse than having a good amp.
  8. Bob Dylan was a good singer.
  9. I used to think "A Song For Guy" was about Guy the Gorilla (due to TOTP) but turns out it was for a young man at Eltons' record label who died - a courier I think. And there were words to the Birdie song. OK, they weren't on the record!
  10. I was really not referring to people such as how you describe yourself. Open-mindedness is great. It's just the answer "Anything" is uninformative (doesn't give you any idea of what their listening is), and usually inaccurate (as you say, you don't listen to some stuff twice). BTW I'm not a ghetto a dweller.... I listen to a wide range of music. For example the albums I bunged on my MP3 today are : DakhaBakha (Ukrainian folk) Naomi Bedford (English Folk), F**8 Buttons (Electronica), and The Fall (Post-punk) Gang of Four (post punk) and ALbertine Sarges (Indie) , Lorelle Meets the Obsolete (Pyche).
  11. Jagger maybe.... but don't lump Richards in with him.
  12. It's better than people who say "Anything".
  13. I'm outraged that we are bombarding kids of that age with pro five-string propaganda. Let them enjoy the simple pleasure of a 4 string while they are still young!
  14. Same here. Luckily I don't like big bands, so I can see all my favourites at small venues.
  15. In my now defunct punk / new wave covers band we said we wouldn't do Teenage Kicks, Pretty Vacant etc as they are too obvious. But we did end up doing them and of course they went down well with the crowd.
  16. Not sure that's the only reason. Or even a significant one. After all, there are non-musicians who don't like Pop. We musicians may dislike it for the same reasons as them. My liking of music as as unrelated to my ability to make it as my liking of food is to my ability to cook it.
  17. Of course reggae has its own instrumental form - Dub. Normally a re-mix of a vocal track. The best dub (IMO) removes most of the melodic instrumentation too.
  18. That is what came to my mind - EDM . I'm not an expert but seems to be instrumental. And more rhythmically than melodically driven.
  19. This one made a big impression on me when it was in a film (can't remember which one - Steven King maybe?) - Santo and Johnny - Sleepwalk.
  20. This lot are relatively recent (although they draw on old music) and are pretty cool instrumental band - Los Bitchos
  21. You might be OK in the first leg......
  22. Red Rat - Wrigley's
