  1. How about this? Is it reggae.... sounds to me like a reggae/ragga vocal with drum and bass remix. Nia Archives.
  2. I get the feeling that Paul would like to do exactly that. But in real world old age and security issues leave him with limited options to do it.
  3. Didn’t know Brix was doing some solo stuff. A Fall/MBV collaboration is very appealing.
  4. Thanks for outing a hypocrite 😄!
  5. Sounds good- watch out for bass player Steve Hanley in Brix and the Extricated. He was great in the Fall , but seems to have moved away from his signature sound lately.
  6. Are you speaking as a fan of PIL or what?
  7. I’m not really a fan of STH, Zep or Heart…….. but that was fantastic.
  8. Has Carol never claimed that it is her under a pseudonym 😉?
  9. Thanks.... I have ordered one of the Crucual 16GB cards .... should arrive tomorrow.
  10. Thanks for the tip. I only occasionally come across a program which is not available for download, so just listen at home via WIFI. If it was frequent I would consider the above. What file format does it give?
  11. Just listened…. Very good Didn’t seem to be available for download though.
  12. Marc Riley with the Creepers live LP, recorded straight to cassette. This is Mark Riley's band after left (actually got sacked) The Fall. He seems to disown his solo work now. Some may know him as a DJ on Radio one and latterly 6 music (Lard from Mark and Lard) First song, Jumper clown, is a dig at Fall leader Mark E Smith. Second song, Goin' Rate, is about people trying to get bands to play for free/cheap. Sure some here can relate to that.
  13. Yeah...... still use it, but mostly downloads from BBC sounds these days. It's amazing how much stuff we have available so easily.
  14. Looks good... I'll download it after broadcast. Just need to remember 😟. Good that it's presented by an actual bass player too.
  15. The picture made me think of tranquility and solitude. So I decided to go for a kind of 'solo' thing - a single performance into a single mic, with minimal number of takes. So just a guitar tuned to open D and vocal. Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar tuned open D (DADF#AD). Performed into a Zoom H1 recorder with inbuilt stereo mic. Then transferred the WAV to Studio One DAW to add a touch of reverb, EQ and compression. Kind-of first take... one take for mic placement and another to decide the number of verses - the final was the first take after that. Lyrics in spoiler
  16. As said before I don’t drink before a gig as it would have a negative effect on my playing. However I’m pretty sure it would improve the between-song banter!
  17. According to msinfo32 According to Crucial (https://uk.crucial.com/store/systemscanner , suggested by @lowdown) Ram is M378A1K43EB2-CWE
  18. Not calling it “snoo snoo” probably helps too.
  19. Very true, I'd forgotten about that one! Also applies to the banjo!
  20. Thanks…. I’ll have a look after work.
  21. I remember going to a UK Subs gig nearly 40 years ago, and the audience were chanting "Charlie Harper is an old age pensioner" So it's good to see him still at it and in good form.
  22. No, I bottled it I’m afraid. Still a bit outside my comfort zone…..
  23. I normally use the "Pincer" type shown above, plus a nail file. On 9 fingers, the issue is to keep the nail short enough. On one finger, the issue is to stop the nail wearing away - it gets worn by down-strums on acoustic guitar or 'clawhammer' strokes on the banjo. Recently I've taken to having an acrylic nail on that finger (local nail bar)... helping so far, but is even really hard to cut when it starts to grow out.
  24. Should be easy to design a simple doohickey with a light sensitive resistor on the led which has a small circuit attached which controls a stepper motor to move a small flag into an up or down position. Or just make a shade like suggested above.
  25. I went a couple of times: 85-ish and 93-ish. Had a great time, but even then the headline acts were too mainstream for me. But lots of good stuff in the smaller areas. I think Glasto is now a bit of a vanity project for the really big names.... something for the bucket list for the performer (and the punter too). And a lot of the attendees are not hardcore music fans, they just want to have fun.
