I'd msg @Andyjr1515 for his take on the matter, and glue choice. Its a crack rather than a break, so no real alignment and angle issues, plus a nice bit of extra volute wood for strength in the vacinity... ASAP While the tension is still on, some titebond(?) or most suitable - be nice and warm and runny this weather - to wick in all the open gap. Rather than looking to open the gap again for the glueing. Then off with the tension and a good clamp... (i've seen inner tubes wrapped around things, then pumped up to apply conforming pressure if no decent clap and packing) - how long? 48hrs? As mentioned previously, no lacquer finish, so a little bit of sanding, wire wool 0000 to remove any glue ooze and a dab of oil or wax!

Depends what there vibe is... Best place to start but not a starter bass... 2nd hand Ibby SR300! - £160ish? Love 'em and love passive modding 'em. +1 on the HB PB50 - great as they are, at the price point they make for a loverly little personalisation tinker project, ideal for a dining room table over a few winter nights... 😉 Had a fun time modding mine. I've seen some basic Yams criminally cheap but i just don'g like the look compared to the Ibby

Dead?.. Sure its not just a wire break, where you can undo a wind a re-solder to the eyelet? Worth a close look.

Dunlop Nylon, 1mm Don't like the powdery feel of the tortex material, and they are too stiff for the thickness.

If you run a length of tape up each side of the neck along the fretboard edge, [First, before the across pieces...] you can then peel the across fret bits of tape off in a one-er... I use one of those thin metal fret shields.

I have a EHX Headphone Amp... more durable than those VoxAmp plug things, it works well after pedals etc. But is very sterile as no cab sim etc. https://spartanmusic.co.uk/products/electro-harmonix-headphone-amp Artec used to do an On-Board headphone amp, but again sound like an instrument, not an instrument into an amp, cab, in a room. Zoom B1 on or B1 Four - They can be as Complicated as ya like, Simple Quality Best Solution.

Love the rear route, single vol look of simplicity on these, often wonder, but have way too many. Page 6 if ya fancy teleheading... bass heads.pdf -
Looks like it might have one too many strings...

How hard, and how are you plucking the strings? Pic or Finger? If finger pushing the string up/down, rather than in - out. Try a lighter touch, fret buzz still there?
