1. Yes, that was the one. Apparently the bridge is a real weak point - a couple of the threads on here going back mention this. Saved you the bother of putting a new one on!
2. Mark, many thanks. That is just the info I was looking for - don't worry about pics, you have told me all I need to know - too heavy, neck too big! I have reasonably big hands but favour slim necks and my back won't let me wear heavy basses for long.
3. I had a Jaguar and the neck was actually shallower than most other 38mm necks I have tried. The only ones the same are my Peavey Fury and Fender Precision Lyte - others are thicker.
4. Ah, ok, thanks. Although I do think I set my sights rather lower than you do, Noel. Just out of curiosity, how would you rate one of these compared to, say, Ario Pro II Cardinal series? Or one of the JapCrap/Epiphone SG shapes?
5. I am currently watching with interest a Westbury Track 2 on eBay. There is something about those vaguely SG shaped, double cutaway basses I find appealing. I've done a search of the forums here and discovered they are good quality, Matsumoku built, prone to head dive, a lot of peoples' first bass that they wish they'd never sold etc etc But what I can't find reference to anywhere are some specific things. Does anyone have one that could measure a/ the weight b/ the width of the neck at the nut? and c/ is there any routing under the scratchplate or could it be removed? Failing that, any comparisons? - I have read 'lighter than a Washburn Scavenger' but, then again, so is my car. ta!
6. The key word here is 'loud' I think...
7. Sorry to seem dense but do these have a lead attached - if so how long - or do they plug into a socket? I have tried googling them but that bit of info seems missing.
8. Well, with VAT and delivery nearer £35 but no risk so far as I can see.
9. Here is a review by the Bass Whisperer. He seems keen. http://youtu.be/67Fo7AKwfA0 It was enough to make me get one - huge range of tones from the pup/3-band eq and exceedingly playable. £330 is just stupidly cheap.
10. I have the Studiospares equivalent and would never be without it. It kind of focuses the sound to come straight out of the cab and totally cured stage boom I was experiencing in a couple of situations.
11.
For goodness sake, Guys - stop haggling - you won't find a better buy for £80!!!!

Approved as a budget buy.
Thanks chaps!! Last bump before it goes in the loft.
12. PayPal if you cover fees, Bank Transfer, personal cheque, or any of the trades listed. This is gathering dust gentlemen...
13. Well have it then! You just need to find a bit more cash....
14. Thank you, Sire.
15.
Most of our gigs will be just average size pubs and clubs, but occasionally we play larger venues where it's nice to have a bit in reserve to call on, and that's why I see this as the ideal set-up, as it's light and compact enough for the smaller venues, but when you need a bit more, it's there all in one box!
I used the Streamliner 600 and BF Compact at my last gig. Most of the controls were at 12 o'clock except the master volume (and mids, but thats another story), which was around 10 o'clock. That was in a pub with a sound guy supplied (Golden Fleece in Chelmsford, if anyone knows it) who put everything through the house pa - DI'd the bass, miked up the drums and the guitars. It was LOUD - too loud for the gig imo but there was a lot more to give. Be interesting to hear how the 900 gets on paired with a S12 - that is going to be shockingly loud.
16. If you do I can heartily recommend one of these Ultimate stands http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Ultimate-Support-GS1000-Guitar-Stand/HDR Mine has had offset basses - Jazz, Jaguar and Thunderbird - at various times and is a good quality bit of kit. Folds to 21".
17. I like fiddling with basses and the single biggest improvement in terms of bang for buck was fitting a J. East preamp - P-retro in your case. My P-retro has been in 3 different basses now, plus another in a 2 pup bass, and each time fitting one has opened up a whole word of sound that had previously been locked away somewhere. Even with stock cheapish pickups the difference it made was huge. Currently have a Westone Thunder Jet bass with Seymour Duncan SPB-3 and the P-retro and it sounds huge. I also fitted to it a Gotoh-a-like high mass bridge similar to this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Guitar-Gear-4-String-Bass-Bridge-Thick-Block-Various-Colours-/130747239962?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&var=&hash=item1e71248e1a as I find the stock BBOT uncomfortable - does the job as well as a 'proper' Gotoh 201 I have on another bass even if the build quality is not so good. Advantage of replacing the wiring loom with a KiOgon one, apart from the cheap price and quality, is they come with a terminal block fitted for the pup wires, so changing them is a 10 minute job. I aim to trial of as many different types as I can in an attempt to get 'that' perfect tone.
18. And up. I could do with this going - not for the money but it is taking up space! This is easily worth double, a nice bass. And don't forget trade options...to which I would add an Epiphone EBO in black as I have never tried one if anyone is interested?
19. And a bump. Anyone looking for a decent quality back up bass should consider this one - makes a change form the usual Fender copy!
20. Guitarist in my rock band uses (a black) one of these - utterly, jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
21. If I were in your shoes I'd bite Vindi's arm off!
22. Use it to put out the flaming torch? I have days when I can pick a fight in an empty room - must be menopausal or something - the internet is a bad place for me to be when that happens!
23. Having a bad day, one way or another - sorry to anyone for over-reacting.
24. Jeez, i didn't expect a lynching. It was only a suggestion - forget it.
