1. Well, yes, you can lead a horse to water etc. But at the moment if someone posts a for sale without a price, people will say 'oi, you need a price, fella'. be nice to have that kind of weight behind checking the wanted. Obviously not enforceable but if it is written up there maybe a few more people would take notice. And, as it is all about me I would have my Wizard Trads by now!
2. Good morning Basschat Management. Would it be possible/worthwhile/pointless exercise to add to the Market Place rules for sellers to check the 'wanted' section before starting a 'for sale' thread? I do try to check the site frequently when I am on the lookout for something but some of it disappears at the speed of light. It can be a little frustrating to see something you posted as wanted some while earlier get snapped up. In the short term it will save people time if they see someone wants what they are looking to sell as it will probably mean not having to do a full post with pics etc. Or is it just tough luck? Either way, keep up the good work. Cheers Paul
3. Edit to make sense - if these are still available I will have these, please, with the loom.

One more positive experience to add to the legion on here. I just did a 'neck swap' with Pete. He is a nice honest chap to deal with good communication throughout.
5. No hope for me, then. I played my first ever gig aged 50.
6. There are about 4 million sub £500 basses in the 'for sale' section here.
7.
To turn that around, how close can you get to a P sound with the right EQ, strings and pickups on a non-P bass?
I have two basses that sound more like a P-Bass than most of the P-Basses I have ever heard, yet look nothing remotely like a P-Bass. Well, I suppose they are essentially the same bass - Hohner B2ADB and Hohner B-Bass, which is exactly the former but with a full body and head. They both do the woody P-Bass tone superbly. Coming from the little headless, it sounds really odd.
8. Bump for a rather nice back up bass that is possibly the best value for money on Basschat at the moment I'd consider non-bass trades such as Seymour Duncan SPB-1 or Wizard Trad pup, set of LEDs, J. East P-retro with cash adjustment either way if needed. That kind of thing
9. Sold a detuner to Steve in what has to be the easiest transaction I have ever had here - whilst picking it up he also relieved me of some surplus pickups! -cheers mate!
10. I don't know how big the MB head is but for both my TC Electronic Classic 450, GenzBenz Streamliner 600 and also a newly acquired Line6 G50 wireless kit I use one of these ali cases from Maplin Electronics http://www.maplin.co.uk/home-and-diy/storage-boxes-and-accessories/flight-and-rugged-cases the plastic rugged cases are pretty tough and on offer at the moment. Just be sure of the internal measurements, as they vary. My Barefaced cabs just get a Roqsolid cover - liking the idea of a sheet of ply, too, if needs be.
11. That lop-sided shape! It will never catch on.
12. I played guitar in my yoof, stopped playing when I left uni in 1979 and remained instrumentless for a couple of decades. During my 'mid-life crisis' I returned to making music on bass as during the interim I started to listen to music differently. I still maintain a varying population of guitars, currently down to one, which I enjoy noodling around on. Quite on the cards that the rhythm guitarist and I in one band will swap roles periodically.
13.
As I understand it (and I may well be wrong) the Squier Jag's have a very different set up to the Fender Jag's Fender - multiple switching options and jazz pickups
You are not wrong. I had a Fender Jag for a while and found all the combinations un-necessarily complicated - front pup/back/both, active/passve, series/parallel. Nice neck, though.
14.
Unbranded Hand Case - Good quality, Two storage pockets, Neck support and room for most basses (Got a P in it at the moment)
Yuck. I'd suggest leaving it open to dry out, and then some Frebreeze.
15. OK, let's carry on via PM. And deal is done. No more tumeric! Gotta love Basschat
16. That tele - looks like the exact same one all the way through - was it?
17. The Pirates! I saw them *fairly* recently - this century, rather than the the last, so maybe +/-2005 - and they were not quite as frantic but still on the money.
18. Some pics!
19. Pictures!
20. Considering I am such an ugly b@stard I am surprisingly concerned about appearances. My basses, anyway - nowt I can do about me. The yellow tint was an itch I couldn't scratch! But maybe I can now - PM sent, Pete.
21. On the off chance - I have a P-bass fitted with a Mightly Mite Jazz neck MM2909 sprayed with the vintage nitro finish and would prefer the same neck finished in clear satin. Anyone out there with reverse preferences? It is a bit too turmeric for me. Pictures later.
22. Forgotten bands alright. Kursaal Flyers at the Blue Boar! Be Bop Deluxe! Class act. Maid in Heaven - superb track http://youtu.be/FzZUyTpmy3g
23. I am thinking of selling my Peavey Fury II as I have too many basses. It is black with maple neck and rosewood fretboard. One VFL pickup (vertical flux loading, whatever the heck that means, but they get quite good reviews), active 3 band eq that gives a decent enough range of tones - the mid control is especially useful. Jazz width neck (38mm) that is VERY shallow with 20 frets. Weighs around 8.5lbs. Hardware is Peavey version of a high mass bridge and enclosed Schaller-type tuners in a kind of satin finish gunmetal colour. Serial number on neck plate reads 00410204, sticker on neck reads 00386360 - no idea why they are different! No firm idea how old this is - mid 90s? - I believe they were made in Korea. Overall it is in pretty good nick except for a dink in the lower horn. I have the action set pretty low and it has no issues that I am aware of. I bought it purely out of curiosity and was surprised how good it was when it finally turned up - a far better instrument than, say, the Peavey Milestone III. My intention was to pimp it with a better eq, which I would consider to be the weak point, but then it not exactly a boutique bass! This would result in a pretty damned good bass. However I subsequently bought a SBMM SB-14 which kind of trumps it in the single pup/3-band eq department. I would like just £80 for this, which is stupidly cheap and priced to go in a buyers market. Collect from South Benfleet in Essex or packed in a tatty hard case and posted for around £15. Welcome any trial. No pics for now - I'll take some later - but here is one from somewhere on the internet.
24. I bought a Hipshot BT1, recommended for musicman basses, direct from the USA for around $52 to put on my Sterling by Musicman SB14. But it didn't fit on the smaller headstock of that particular that model. So - I sold it to a fellow basschatter. When he tried to fit it to his stingray he said it was defective - that the tuning peg mechanism caught and wouldn't turn. He returned it to me, I gave him his money back. I contacted the seller, who has since replaced it as defective, free of charge, and with a BT7. Back to the BT1 - it didn't look odd at all when it came back so I jerry-rigged it to my SB-14 and I was surprised to find that it apparently was in order - the bassplate didn't fit, overlapping with that of the next tuner and also the screws didn't all line up, but the actual gear mechanism seemed to work perfectly well and also the detuner. So, there it is. It either works or it doesn't! To recoup my postage costs from to-ing and fro-ing I offer it for sale for £20 posted on the condition that you pay me once you have received it, fitted it and are happy with it. Worst case you waste time fitting it and have an interesting paperweight. At best you get a virtually band new BT1 detuner for £20!!
