1. Pleased to be the first to leave feedback for Simon (siggi). I bought his Sterling by Music Man SB14 in a completely smooth transaction - good comms, beautiully packaged, actually in better condition that I was expecting. A pleasure to do business with! Thanks Simon.
2. I don't mind a bit of widdling. In fact one of the bands I am in have just embraced a rather excellent widdler, which takes us off on to a different path than before. Quite like Billy S. The thing that I found amusing was the use of the fan at front of stage - that seems to have been installed to blow Steve Vai's hair about rather fetchingly. Do you suppose it was purely a vanity thing or does he get just very hot and sweaty?
3. Ta. Thinking about it, the second question is irrelevant. Where in Surrey are you, and would you take £70 for both pods plus stand?
4. HJ to MacD 'Don't make eye contact with him - he might go away eventually'
5. Question. Can the pod LEDs be used on the stand? And do you know if they might be compatable with KAM Parbar stuff via a suitable cable? I think that might have been 2 questions...
6. I know a few people who believe that if you give your bank sort code and account number then you can have your account cleared out - it is not an uncommon misconception. But, yes, I would use also use PayPal in these circumstances for the protection it offers.

8. I have just bought one of the Studio Spares version, which works out around £10 cheaper - at £34 posted it is almost too cheap to even think about making anything. But have yet to use it in anger. One of my bands (if I still have two, another story) now has a regular slot at a place (Essex Arms, Brentwood if locals know it) where the stage is *really* boomy. I should be able to make a direct comparsion.
9. If your TC Electronic stuff includes a head with Tubetone, you need look no further for added grit. Extremely useable tones.
10. While we are indulging in a little Geezer love, I assume we have all seen that incredible video of Black Sabbath playing somewhere in france in 1970. 1970. 42 years ago. Set the bar for heavy rock and to these old jaded ears, it hasn't been raised since. Ozzy could almost sing back then, and Bill Ward's drumming was as its 'drunk in the broom cupboard' best. War Pigs, nothing else to say. If you haven't you can rectify it immediately as some kindly soul has uploaded the whole hour's worth onto YouTube. Pic quality isn't great but who cares. Raw power when not many others were doing this.
11. There is a *similar* SB14 for sale here which, if it were black, would be at home with me now already. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/171117-ft-sbmm-sb14-blue-with-black-pg-nordstrand-mm43/ an OLP copy for sale (maybe) here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/154702-fs-olp-mm2-stingray-copy/ and a nice 5er here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/148094-fs-musicman-stingray-5/page__pid__1620356__st__20#entry1620356
12. That was quick! Thanks chaps. I guess I stick it on for £750 and see if anyone is interested at that price.
13. A friend of mine wants to move on his Fender Precision. He bought it new 'in the late 90s/early 00s' (he is a bit vague) but the serial number (N7323445) tells me it is a '97-98 model. USA Standard, Sunburst with maple neck and fretboard, white plate. Weighs in at around 9.5lbs and has a relatively skinny 40mm wide neck at the nut, albeit quite deep (C shape? I am never sure). Anyway, he realised after buying it he didn't like it much, bought a USA Standard Jazz, kept this as back up and very occasional use since (plays jazz and swing, sits on a stool). It has the original non-Fender hard shell case, in which it has spent most of the ensuing [s]23[/s] 13 years in the cupboard under his stairs. (edit for maths) I wished I wanted it as I don't imagine bases come long too often in this kind of nick - barely any buckle rash, a couple of really tiny dents that hardly crease the surface, a few tony scuffs in the scratch plate and that is it. As P-basses go this is fairly lightweight and has a skinny neck - ticks a lot of my boxes. But it isn't me. Neck is a bit thick and I really am not keen on sunburst finishes. Seems to do the woody P-bass tone rather nicely. I said, by way of a trade off for borrowing it, i would take pics and advertise it on here for him but, of course, I need to put a value on it for the ad. Does anyone have an idea what one of these is worth. There is nothing particularly special about it other than its quite remarkable condition. Here are a few pics. 15.
Wasn't that at Wembley? (I was there too.) And Lamb Of God are sh*t.
The old grey matter fails me again - you are quite right. On both counts. What a terrible racket they were! Still a lot of young people there seemed to enjoy them - that strange tornado of twirling and punching going on in the middle.
16. I thought I was overdoing it with a Peavey TKO80. I saw Heaven and Hell at the Albert Hall a couple of years back and, unbelieveably, they were drowned out on the volume front by the support band Lamb of God who are the loudest thing I have ever experienced. Thank God for ear plugs.
17. Great memories. I remember for one tour I saw them on - think they must have had a little fame by then - they had an enormous 'brick wall' made of polystyrene blacks that Alex kicked his way out of at the start of 'Framed', just before doing the 'greaser' hair do with some beer. Don't know if there is any live footage of that going on anywhere but here is a '74 (God help us, 38years ago - what happened?) clip of 'Framed'. Cleminson's zany brilliance again. 18. I don't see this fellow's name crop up on here very often But, for me, he is almost the perfect rock bass player. I often forget it but every time I see footage of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band I remember all over again what an influence his throbbing, pulsing bassline are to me. Nothing fancy usually, although he can play fast and complicated stuff as his later time with Michael Schenker Group proves. And always has that look in his eyes that it is all a real blast - and he still has that same twinkle in his eye nowdays. I first saw SAHB at the London Music festival in 1973 at the Alexandra Palace - a heady line topped by Uriah Heep but included Gary Moore and Manfred Mann's Earth Band. I don't think many people had heard of SAHB and their theatrics didn't go down well then but I saw them maybe 4 times in the next couple of years, then a couple of years later as SAHB without Alex (but before he died). Brilliant. Zal Cleminson is also an enduring hero on guitar, always finding a randomly innovative solo to throw out there, like ice cracking. I stick all this on here because I recently heard this track that I had amaxingly never heard before despite being on an album and released as a single! A cover of a really funny Jerry Reed track called Amos Moses. Typical Glen throbbing bass and Zal Cleminson brilliance. And of course the unique genius that was Alex Harvey. Here on the Old Grey Whistle Test playing some pretty damn funky bass on Give My Complements To The Chef and here playing 'Into The Arena' with MSG Edit - the board won't let me imbed another, even as a link? Does anyone else hve a favourite Chris Glen moments or stories? Anyone meet him?

20. I'd put it in a cash ISA and buy a Westone

22. I had an Epi T Bird pro IV and the standard Epi T Bird case fitted it like a glove. Sadly it didn't make me and slimmer of better looking so I moved it on. Great bass mind.
