1. Hmm. 16 so 2001. Probably Idlewild or White Stripes.
2.
I`d say probably at GK owners who do lots of gigs with provided rigs...
Yep, and GK owners who sometimes have to work with sound engineers who want to DI before the amp.
3.
Well, she still won't come on BC. Can't think of a suitable name, she says. But she did get up and play 34 scale bass on a proper outdoor stage, up steps, all made of scafolding and tarpaulins, with a sound tent wayyyy behind the audience, and seperate off stage speaker stacks. At a rugby ground. They were very small speaker stacks, in special speaker tents. But seperate off stage speaker tents they were. They opened our local Ukulele festial. First act of the festival in the lunchtime graveyard slot, so nothing earth shattering. But I'm pleased. Thought maybe you folks would be too.
Fantastic to hear for any new player.
4. Excellent. Good luck with it, I love mine.
5. Of course, if it's purely for amusement then go for it.
6.
Part of me is thinking that it would be amusing to get a U Bass or something like that but I'm not sure. Mostly I've been using the MM and it's going good so far.
If it's going good, why change anything?
7. Great cause. Will search out a local event.
8.
I only play originals so have never played anything anyone is remotely interested in, let alone danced too...
Ha! I feel tour pain. When I played in a covers band it was Spirit in the Sky that got the dancefloor full.
9. Fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing all the detail.
10. Another recommend for the GK MB series from me. I use the MB500 through various cabs and although I play more alt rock than metal it is clear and articulate which for me is key. It also has a useful EQ (unlike the Bass Terror which I used to have) for boosting the mids and a lovely bitey drive on the second channel. You can also fit it in a backpack/gigbag pocket/laptop bag.
11.
Check out this site.https://www.ents24.com/hub/search/genre/music/near/Bristol/radius/10/order/date I can't recommend any in particular....if it had been tonight there is some good stuff on at The Exchange
Great thanks
12. Hiya, does anyone know of any fun gigs happening in Bristol City centre on Saturday night? Thanks, Rob
13. Well done for getting back to playing so quickly. I was thinking about the grip discussion a bit further up and tried to pay attention when I played yesterday. Lightly gripped between thumb and index finder tips. Then for heavier playing I add my middle finger.
14. Gumtree and JoinMyBand have worked for me recently. Lots of time wasters on both but I'd say that unless you get into a pro circuit there will always be people who want to be in a band but aren't really up for the work. Good luck finding the right people, don't feel you have to settle for the first people who come along.
15. My main bass is a C4 diamond series. I've had it for almost 10 years and love it. I never have bass gas, it just suits my playing style.
16. I think I heard at one point that Ben Kenny (Incubus) uses/used 2 or more Mesa Walkabout combos with extension cabinets for his stage rig.
17. thanks for reminding me how much I like that song. great playing too
18.
I thought I'd add something tuneless, which barely approaches the upper registers! https://soundcloud.c...y-fried-noodles Sorry!
yes, this is great, thanks for sharing the effects chain too. I'm really enjoying the variety of stuff people are putting out.
19.
I did one https://soundcloud.c...robot/noodle-01 not very bassy, though...
Nice stuff. loving the melody
20. What type of effect do you want? I.e. what you want your bass to sound like?
21. Right I'm in too. Will try to record a couple of bits this week.
