1. Can be great (e.g. Grand Wazoo's Cow Bass link) no pics anymore I'm afraid. But can be awful (e.g. cack handed relicing)

  5. Welcome to the forum
lot of gear porn here
There's loads of beautiful instruments and equipment on here, enjoy.
  6. Welcome to the forum. Plenty of very knowledgable people around to help with any technical problems.

  9.
Quieter yes, better? Debatable.
You are of course correct, better is totally sujective. Apologies if I came over as stating fact rather than opinion. I meant, better in the sense of easier to mix live band sound (IMO of course).
  10.
the volume control goes down as well as up.
if everyone understood this then the world would be a better place. I reckon I'd think it was too much with anything over a 4x10 at a pub gig. Obviously depends on the size of pub and the pa support.
  11. 3rd gig if the week for me. Charity event for rainbows children hospice with the originals band. Our sings sounded great, the covers they'd asked is to learn did not. Drummer strained a muscle in his hand which swelled up. Hmm, swings and roundabouts gig wide but a fantastic cause so very happy to have been part of it.
  12. for me, its the amp. The amp really colours the sound going from the DI into the PA and the cabinet is really only onstage monitoring If I didn't have always have PA support things might be different.
  13. Covers gig at a private birthday party. First set was fine, few tricky moments but blagged well. Great response to Spirit in the Sky. Went back on stage for the second set and realised that our singer was pi55ed. Struggled through, brought on our excellent sound guy to help sing a couple of tunes. Embarassing.
  14. Really fun gig at Lock 42 in Leicester, smallish audience so I leapt/fell off the stage to dance around for the last song. Nice comments after from people who hadn't seen us before as well as people who had. I got really into the music despite the small, polite crowd, this feeling right now is why I play music. Totally wired.
  15. apologies for the terrible pic

    any news?
  17. You think my credit card can deal with all that?
  18.
Well, there's good news and bad news.
That's a lot of good news. Keep going, we're all rooting for you.
  19.
More members also increases the likelihood of hearing "I'm unavailable that day."
Having major difficulties with this at the moment even though my originals band are only a 4 piece. Getting right on my nerves if I'm honest. Originals is 4: 1 singer, 1 guitarist, 1 drummer and me on bass and backing vocals Covers is 6 (at the moment): 1 singer, 2 guitarists, 1 keys, 1 drummer and me on bass with 1 guitarist and the keyboard player both doing backing vocals. I prefer to play in bands with fewer instruments.
  20. wicked. nuff said.

    SOLD

Out on interest (sorry still can't justify a buy atm), is it possible to play an 8 string fingerstyle? Are the pairs of string close enough together? (TIM)

  23. Fraid I can't give any advice but good luck. I really hope it goes well for you.
  24.
None of these teenies will stack up soundwise against a bigger cabinet, but nor should we expect them to. What they do do, at ridiculously low weights, is work admirably for rehearsals and small gigs, whilst also getting away with bigger gigs with PA support (or with additional cabs) - all while saving our backs!
Well said. They do the job that most of us actually require.
  25.
Yep, that makes sense to me. So, such stands are only really useful in conjunction with a full PA.
That's the way I use them.
Hello, looked at one of those stands a while ago, nothing more than a flimsy modified guitar stand I certainly wouldn't trust it with anything remotely valuable, have you thought about making up some tilt back legs like they used to fit to the old fender twin guitar amps, mike b.
Thanks very much for the first hand experience. Mmm ok, thats a shame, would really hate for my rig to crash to the ground mid gig (or any other time). I did consider tilt back legs and that would sort the portability issue but I really like the lift as well as the tilt.
I use a MarkBass combo and I am after something to tilt my combo up on stage. So far the only stand I like the look of is this, It is foldable and can take 88lbs.
yep that looks good. As above, I think I'd miss the lift but I hope it works for you
Thr first one is what I use. For monitoring it faces up towards me. With no PA support it faces the audience
How does it perform when facing an audience? I've never used a stand in that way and Flyfisher seems to think it would be detrimental to the sound? Thanks to everyone for their responses and thoughts. Think I might stick with what I've got for the moment then. Might sort out a better trolley to help with the portability.
