2. Hi. I have just bought a new fretless bass and i am just in the process of buying some new strings for it. I was just wondering what exactly are Pressurewound strings? On the description on the Rotosound website it says they are perfect for fretless basses but i dont know anything about them. Are they flatwound? Cheers
3. I have just found these strings. They are not flatwound but pressurewound. What exactly is the difference? In the description it says they are great for fretless basses. Any ideas/ opinions on these would be much appreciated. 4.
I swaer by Rotosound Solo Bass - they are grounwound (flattended roundwounds). 23 years and no fretboard wear on my Wal. Your exisiting strings may chew the fretboard up so I would consider a change if I were you. Welcome to the world of iffy intonation
Thanks Bilbo! Having only had the bass for a number of hours, its not like playing the upright! But enjoying every second and looking forward to getting the bass set up for my playing and getting some new strings on it etc. Thanks also for all your advice, i think i might go for the same string gauge as my electric bass but go for a set of flatwounds, as im used to playing upright, this will feel much more comfortable. Cheers guys
5. I have seen these before on the internet but cannot seem to find one to buy. Does anyone have any idea where these can be purchased in the UK? Cheers
6. Hi. I have just bought my first fretless bass and i am just wondering what peoples views are on which strings to go for. On my fretted jazz bass i use D'addario EXL190. I am tempted to just buy the same strings for my fretless as i have used these for years and i love them. Any opinions on this would be much appreciated Cheers
7. Hi Guys Thanks for your replys, i will check out these guys. Much appreciated Cheers
8. Ok thanks mate, appreciate your comment Cheers
9. Hi. I am sure that there is already a topic on this but just wanted to get a variety of views on lightweight bass combos and which ones people recommend? Cheers
10. Hi I was just wondering if anybody knew any good Bass Luthiers/ Repairs/ Doctors if you will! I am looking for someone who is good with Electric and Upright basses as well as electronics (amps/ pedals etc) if possible. I am fairly new to this area after relocating and my equipment is in need of some attention. Cheers
11. I have had my an Electro Harmonix Q-Tron + pedal for a number of years and for the first few months it worked fine. Then one day i plugged it in and it just stopped working. This has been the case for about 2/ 3 years and until now i have never got round to doing anything about it. The light on the pedal still works and it still works on Bypass (my bass still plays through it on Bypass) but when stomped on no sound at all is produced. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was common with these pedals or if anyone has come across this before and if so, is there an easy fix? Cheers
12. Good evening, I have always been interested in the Japanese made Fender Jazz Bass Specials. If anyone has one or has had any experiences with them i would really appreciate any information, reviews on them. To be honest i am just attracted to them in cosmetically, i just love the black headstock and like the idea of PJ pickup configuration. The only thing that puts me off it is the fact it has no pickguard, does anyone know if their bodies are standard size and if the holes can be put in them so that a normal Fender pickguard can be put on them? I have always dreamed of buying one, cleaning it up and then spraying it black and putting a tortoise shell pickguard on it, i imagine you will either love or hate the idea! But would really appreciate any information on such bass Cheers
13. Greetings, Surrey based bass player here, been playing for ten years odd and looking to join the basschat community to discuss gear etc. I play an old Austrian Upright and currently play a MM Jazz Bass. Played in a variety of contexts, mostly jazz having finished my Bmus degree in 2009. Have been involved in function stuff and jazz quartets, had an original jazz trio and have played in various soul bands. Currently doing session/ recording work for more popular artists as well as being a full time secondary school music teacher. Cheers
