Morning folks, Loving the rugby this morning. We all know people's opinions about sharing bass gear. That has been well discussed and people have very strong opinions about it. Personally I'll share my amp or back-up bass if people ask ahead of time with a genuine reason or if they have had an emergency on the night. Quick question about your experiences sharing drum gear from a non-drummer. It seems to be generally the case that at our gigs the band playing last provide drum shells (bass and toms) and stands whilst all the other bands bring their own breakables. As the band leader (with no experience of playing drums) I make it a pre-gig courtesy to get in touch with the band playing last to say hi, offer local help if they are from out of town and to check that drum share is ok with them. If we're playing last then we would of course bring drums and expect to be sharing them with the other bands playing. Is this necessary? Would your drummer be annoyed if another band didn't explicitly ask about drum share ahead of time?

I can't believe places like this still exist.

[/quote] Sorry, didn't respond to your full post. IMO your rig should hold its own with the band. I used to use an EB12-180 + Mag 210t in a 2 guitar punk/grunge band. No problem for on stage sound and as mentioned for bigger venues DI is the way forward in most cases. I carry a spare bass, cables and straps (along with strings, batteries and a little tool kit) to all my gigs and now I'll be taking a DI box in case the amp packs up. There are loads of DI boxes out there which would serve as an emergency back up. I'm afraid that I only every use one in emergencies so am not really an expert. Do a quick search in the effects forum and there'll be reviews and opinions a plenty.

The mid end gear that they produce is pratical and affordable and therefore are still a regular choice.

Isn't the clue in the word [b]partner[/b]?

Say that if his heart isn't in it (or is getting bad enough earache to mean the same thing) then it isn't good for him or you. He might change his tune, he might not but you've told him how you feel. If nothing changes then take the drummer (or get playing with the other one you mention) and set up your own thing. There are plenty of guitarists around and if you do the recruiting then you can be sure that they have similar tastes/skill/commitment before you get them in.
